It’s pretty fun role playing as a Corpo, ngl. Lol
Adam Smasher in the show: All the same meat to me. I'll slaughter every last one of you. Adam Smasher in the game: UWU please don't hurt me, I might fall apart~
Yep he is very underpowered in the Video Game, look up his stats in the Tabletop RPG and he is ULTRA powerful. To me it would have been better if you crippled one of his limbs or something to escape rather than taking him out entirely.
aaawwwe Marketa's reaction at the end I felt that though when watching this the first time. I am sooo happy you guys decided to watch this it is absolutely perfect. I don't think there is an overall lesson to be learned in the show but a lot to take from each individual perspectives and psychoanalysis. overall the series portrays psychosis and dissociative identity disorder really well from multiple points of view. you can check out a few different videos of psychologists and MD's that provide insight into the show and share their own opinions and conclusions related to cyber ware and the psychology of the characters.
Ketty, Lucy was going around killing everyone who knew about David's abilities. She accomplished _a lot_, she only got out-hacked by Smasher and when she got cocky and was ambushed
Very bittersweet ending to a tragic story. This show always makes me think of Uncut Gems; you know from the start it's going to be a tragedy, but there's this tiny bit of hope you want to hold onto that they'll end up alright.
In the game the reason V doesn't get cyber psychosis no matter how much you upgrade, is because due to the fractured mind Johnny is simply absorbing it. And they will never do a Johnny Silverhand thing because most of his memories are altered by his ego. In the game there are things that just don't add up when you see his memories. But then you have stuff like Cyberpunk RED where they expand upon how events really went down and who was actually involved. Johnny was never Arasaka's number 1 enemy, he was just mixing in Morgan Blackhand's(Smashers actual rival) stories in to his own.
Militech is the true arch enemy of Arasaka, Morgam is "only" the best Solo on the continent, besides hating Arasaka, so he took any contract that made it possible to screw with them. Morgan participated in the assault to use a nuclear bomb to destroy Arasaka's headquarters along with its database, but the plan came from Militech, even though didn't work 100%, those pulled some strings so that Arakasa was blamed for the nuclear explosion in Nigth City.
Best love story I've seen in a long time and a tragic one at that. I finished CP2077 so many times before Edgerunners came out and each playthrough after haven't been the same. Trigger Studio and CDPR have made probably the most faithful game adaptation shows ever made. You can literally visit every place in the show (except the moon of course). You find easter eggs everywhere and you actually feel like it did happen and you are just discovering it as V a year later.
One of the wildest things about adam smasher, is that he has several other bodies that he can download his brain into upon death. Even if one body is destroyed, he literally lives through his other 6 bodies or wait for a new one to be made. My guy is basically immortal
It's not really a cyberpunk story if it has a happy ending, The best you can hope for is something bittersweet like Bladerunner. Real Cyberpunk isn't a genre where plucky underdogs rise up and beat the corrupted system, it's not where you find heroic tales of dogged resistance fighters changing things for the better. Cyberpunk is the depiction of a world where the system has already won before the story even started. An exaggerated, extrapolated vision of our profit-obsessed world today that just happens to be dressed up in neon and flashy chrome. It leaves you feeling empty because it's not intended to be a story with a moral, there's no silver lining to David's death, no lesson to be learned. It's just today's warning of tomorrow's tragedy. Ultimately nothing David and his crew did will matter to Night City. The city itself will remain, looming over the wasteland like a steel monstrosity that never really even noticed David existed. Night City consumes everyone within it from the poorest street kid to the top most corpo, all just fodder for a machine. Even if the entire Arasaka corporation itself were to suddenly implode, its assets would just be picked over by its competitors and the system of corporate hyper-capitalism would continue on and in the big picture it would be as if nothing had changed.
the most painful part of this episode was adam smasher showing up, knowing the anime takes place before the game made me realize most likely everyone was gonna die since smasher is still alive in the game
I think one of the upsides of the story is that for David, he never had a dream. His mother had her dream of him. Then Maine had his dream of him succeeding him. But in the end. He chooses to give Lucy her dream. It was his way of expressing his love to her, and his life was a cost he was happily willing to pay to give it to her. It's sad, because Lucy decided she wanted to experience that dream with him.
"This is a good show, I'm just sad." that encapsulates the show right there lol

Nomad start to Nomad ending is the best story progression and character progression for V by far. It’s also the only one that’s really punk in any way.
Nighty City crushes your soul, if you're lucky enough to survive it
In the tabletop Adam was kind of a "Rocks fall everyone dies" solution when the players get out of control
This is the definition of the meaning, “We won, but at what cost?” 😭
I love the amount of detail in the whole Pondsmith's cyberpunk world. If you played the game and checked out the drinks in the Afterlife bar youd see one named after David. So they pretty much gave away how this was going to end
Next time you go to the Afterlife bar in game, drink a David Martinez in his honor.
what an amazing finale
lmao the fact that micky didnt know diff paths start differently haha
I stated watching this on a day when I was feeling extra down and trapped by the real world, ready to snap like David at the end of ep1. I feel that that factor amplified my engrossment in this series, and a week later I'm still riding this high.
"You don't make a name as a cyberpunk by how you live. You're remembered by how you die."
Edgerunners takes place in 2076 and there's a drink named after david in the game. The Martinez. He was remembered
“Street Kid” was my first-run where I just played how I would play & decision I would make
Then my second-run I was “Nomad” & role played it as the daughter of Morgan Blackhand & tried my best keeping her build to the T to Morgan’s image & whats known about him, making sure I kill nobody cause it’s said he doesn’t kill, had his entire outfit, made sure I would side with Militech in the very beginning (the woman Dex tells you about)
& right now I’m on my third-run as an Arasaka “Corpo” 😎.
To me it would have been better if you crippled one of his limbs or something to escape rather than taking him out entirely.
now you guys know why I really want to stay at your house is a ptsd trigger for the fans
"Why is she shooting?"
Have you *met* Rebecca?
I hope they check the Lackadaisy pilot.
Any chance we can get Castlevania reactions from you guys next?
Winner of Anime of the year! Let's gooo!
aaawwwe Marketa's reaction at the end I felt that though when watching this the first time.
I cried at the end so much
We all knew Marquetta was going to cry
So soy lol
Ketty, Lucy was going around killing everyone who knew about David's abilities. She accomplished _a lot_, she only got out-hacked by Smasher and when she got cocky and was ambushed
Great reaction yall.
Very bittersweet ending to a tragic story. This show always makes me think of Uncut Gems; you know from the start it's going to be a tragedy, but there's this tiny bit of hope you want to hold onto that they'll end up alright.
Unfortunately there will not be a season 2. This is just meant to be a limited series
Oh man here come the TEARS
Him: a night city tragedy
Me: i guess for you and them. But for night city and smasher it was just thuesday.
Yeah, at that moment V was basically zombie
Rebecca didn't deserve what happened to her ;-;
Fax
the most painful part of this episode was adam smasher showing up, knowing the anime takes place before the game made me realize most likely everyone was gonna die since smasher is still alive in the game
To the editor, yes Faraday is petting the guy which I'm assuming is their signal for the guy to open up and him to shoot Kiwi.
After seeing Smasher in this you can't help but be amazed at how godlike V becomes.
Adam Smasher: You have a construct in your brain, and mods that would kill normal humans
V: Rudimentary Implants
💀
The soundtrack was pure 🔥
