Also being spooked for fun isn’t the same as facing a phobia. Being scared in a game is intentional and can be brushed off, while having a phobia is a type of anxiety disorder.

I'm exactly the same... For me, it even extends to movies. Even though rationally I understand it's a fake scenario and nothing actually happened, seeing the actors perform a scene that focuses on a character being humiliated or embarrassed makes me have to leave the room because I feel so bad for them lol
I truly hope I don't sound rude, but if you other phobias aren't that bad, they probably aren't phobias at all. A phobia is a really, REALLY intense and irrational fear. If your other fear don't makes you feel as bad as your fear of animatronics and needles, then they're probably not phobias, just some fear/discomfort. Like, I have trypophobia (intense fear of small holes to close) and acrophobia (intense fear of heights. When I'm in a situation dealing with trypophobia, my insides feel like turning, I feel like puking and my legs get weak. It bad, but if I avoid it quickly I'm fine. BUT, with acrophobia, my stomach DROP, my legs lost all strength, they SHAKE, I feel cold like I have ice inside my veins, my brain FREEZES. I literally can't move. It sucks. I hope I not sound like belittling your problem or anything, just reassuring you that your other fears can be not that bad and more easy to treat.

I want to ask tho, like if i said i am scared of worms or caterpillars, and i see a lot of them crawling and it makes me cold sweating and want to puke, like i want to cry. But when it's individual or just a pic it's not as bad and didn't really effect my body. Is that still considered as phobia or not? Sorry if i dont really understand how phobias work. I personally has smaller fear and i thought that these smaller fears are not phobia and my middle-upper fears are phobia (in like affecting my body and how i react). Yeah I'm terrified of fishes, specifically their eyes. I have no idea but I just find them hella terrifying and am very uncomfortable around them. I probably saw some fish flop around and die in front of me at a young age.

Phobias are exhausting, like you're under so much distress from something that you'd think shouldn't affect you as much as it does. I have a phobia for vomit (emitophobia), so whenever I feel sick or someone says they're sick, I start kind of panicking, and if I vomit I start hyperventilating. I also have a phobia for deep water where I can't touch the bottom with my feet. Then there's my phobia for saliva, like even my own saliva makes me uncomfortable but hearing someone spit or even kissing someone makes me nearly panic. Needles make me lightheaded and I almost faint when I get vaccinated. I feel for Ike and his phobia, it's terrible to feel that way about things. 💙
I feel you, I have emetophobia as well. My then bf once threw up just outside our tent (whilst sitting inside still, luckily nothing was soiled), so I slept outside that night and still can't really comfortably sleep in a small tent :(

I have emetophobia (Or however it’s spelled) and the same issue with needles and saliva - another weird thing that’s probably just sensory issues induced by the fact that im autistic on top of that is chewing and anything that’s really loud. I HATE body/surgery stuff. My family and I watched outlander, a ND the main character is a surgeon, so every time she has to cut someone open or do anything inner body related I had to look away. To clarify, it's not a gore phobia, I can play mortal kombat or watch most horror movies fine, it's specifically surgical gore I can't stand
I have a very irrational fear of needles. I can't look at them without feeling sick to my stomach. I passed out from hyperventilating when I got a flu vaccination, I passed out from hyperventilating when I got my ears pierced, I cannot be close to needles without going into a panic attack. There is no shame in being afraid of something, no matter how dumb or silly it may seem. All fears are valid, and if we are aware of each other's fears, we can help each other out like we did here with warning Ike. Myself and some discord friends were the first to realize that there were bells in this game and we began to warn Ike in chat. I am so so so thankful the other Quilldren were quick to pick up the message and follow suit to help Ike get the message. With this in mind, those of us who have played games that Ike wants to try can give him advance warning to help make his gaming and streaming experience better like someone else did for the game Sky by posting about it on twitter! I will point out though that some of the chatters, while meaning well, were spamming the bell emoji in chat to warn Ike and that is not a good idea. Sometimes the site of our fear can cause extra, unnecessary anxiety. The yellow warning triangle is the perfect symbol to catch a streamers attention when warning them about something.
Just to let you know, I have the same fear of needles that you do! Especially seeing needles going into skin. First time I had to get my covid vaccination, I was hyperventilating pretty bad, too. So you're not alone. There's always someone out there who probably has the same fear as you.

I have an irrational fear of balloons. Like, if I see a video with a balloon or if a person is holding a balloon I get so scared. Water balloons are fine tho. The fact that they’re so fragile and make a loud noise when they pop gets to me. I’m always expecting it to pop at any second and I get so on edge that I’ll literally leave whatever is happening when there’s balloons involved. The worst birthday party I went to was a sleep over in someone’s basement with lots of balloons and pointy things and static electricity. They kept popping and like a couple hours in I was crying in the corner cos I couldn’t go home lol
same here lol my parents used to think that i was just joking, and i actually liked them, so each year i was showered with balloons on my birthday, which just made it worse over the years :')

I feel for him, phobias suck. The shit thing is that you know it's irrational and you're like, "Oh this is a thing that I shouldn't be scared of" but your brain just goes into fear overdrive. Nothing really surprises me that you can get a phobia from literally anything. I have my own weird phobia and it sucks having to mask it or suck it up out of embarrassment because people are usually never scared of these things. Also chat warning Ike about the bell incoming was so wholesome, it made me tear up
I used to have really intense pyrophobia (fear of fire) from trauma. Thankfully It got better after exposure therapy/having friends that smoke. But I really empathize with people that have intense phobias. Even if mine wasn't all that uncommon I just wanna let anyone reading this know that it's okay and nothing to be ashamed of. ❤
I understand Ike so much because I have an even weirder phobia which is I am very very afraid of orchid (yeah, the flower). I used to afraid of all the plants (especially flowers), but I got better and better dealing with the fear. Now, the ones that I couldn't went through are the orchid flowers and some of other weird-looking plants. I feel orchid is the most scary thing in the world. I would freak out when I see the flowers, and even cry or scream when being too close to them. I couldn't even look at pictures or drawings. Imagining the scene in my head also makes me very uncomfortable. Actually, I am shivering when typing out the word "orchid". I don't know where the fear came from. I didn't have this phobia when I was very young. It just appeared with no reason on someday that I have no memory about. Many people (even my family at first) think my behaviors are reasonless, and I always feel I am awkward because of this phobia. So I am kind of glad and also sad at same time when knowing there are many people such as Ike that have similar situations. PS. When the bell rang, I saw Ike closed his eyes. I feel very bad at that moment because I know what he was experiencing exactly.

Oh, that's so sad! I have a basic one, acrophobia, and I physically regress (like tear up and near-hyperventilate) whenever I see things like plasma balls or anything that reminds me of veins. I'm glad he was strong enough to do this. Dealing with phobias or even small fears can be really hard.
The clip of him trying to sit through all those bells was very sad. That's such a unique phobia. I also saw some people in that chat telling him to mute the audio of the game or taking off the headphones. Which I agree with. I hope he doesn't feel like he needs to put his comfort and mental well being in jeopardy just to appease his audience and improve the quality of his streams and videos. I can only imagine what a fear like this would be like. Especially since it’s over something that a lot of people find almost harmless. I have a horrible phobia of loud and sudden noises, and it’s to the point of if I’m doing anything and a thunderclap goes off, I’m dead frozen or I scream. I sometimes can grit my teeth and bare with it like he did, but my head starts pounding and I almost immediately tear up. Mind you, I can stare at viscera or horrible injuries and not even flinch, and I have watched a lot of horror movies that have barely gotten a reaction out of me that everyone else considers horrific, so I’m not exactly a chicken. It’s just that I am terrified when someone yells a bit too loud, a storm rolls through, or someone claps their hands when I’m not paying attention.
I have pretty common phobias but by far my worst one is my trypophobia. Because my friends/acquaintances done have it, they often showed me pictures that really triggered it to the point that my reactions have gotten worse-- to the poiunt that just thinking about it can be bad. And as much as I love the sea(ironically I also have thalassophobia), I cant look at coral reefs or many aquatic animals (like starfish and sand dollars) without feeling nauseous and anxious. I understand how ike feels because things like irregular patterns/clusters and bells are(most times) unavoidable in daily life. I get headaches, break into cold sweat, I get nauseous in my stomach and throat, I get extremely tense and lock up (if i cant avoid it in time), and I get terrible, terrible skin-crawling chills that will last for days if I'm on edge. Its never fun to experience but regardless may ike only get stronger! Bells may be scary but we are stronger!
There's a church that plays bell sounds every 15 minutes near me, I wonder how he'd react to that. Hopefully with streaming he'll play enough games with bells in it to get over the fear. It's helped me a lot with thalassophobia

Yeah I'm terrified of fishes, specifically their eyes. I have no idea but I just find them hella terrifying and am very uncomfortable around them. I probably saw some fish flop around and die in front of me at a young age.
Mine are not phobia-level but i understand the fear...especially coz im a biology student and I unfortunately know a shit ton of info abt them...

Phobias are exhausting, like you're under so much distress from something that you'd think shouldn't affect you as much as it does. I have a phobia for vomit (emitophobia), so whenever I feel sick or someone says they're sick, I start kind of panicking, and if I vomit I start hyperventilating. I also have a phobia for deep water where I can't touch the bottom with my feet. Then there's my phobia for saliva, like even my own saliva makes me uncomfortable but hearing someone spit or even kissing someone makes me nearly panic. Needles make me lightheaded and I almost faint when I get vaccinated. I feel for Ike and his phobia, it's terrible to feel that way about things. 💙
I feel you, I have emetophobia as well. My then bf once threw up just outside our tent (whilst sitting inside still, luckily nothing was soiled), so I slept outside that night and still can't really comfortably sleep in a small tent :(
Yeah I definitely feel this comment so much. I have emetophobia (Or however it’s spelled) and the same issue with needles and saliva - another weird thing that’s probably just sensory issues induced by the fact that im autistic on top of that is chewing and anything that’s really loud. (For some reason music doesn’t trigger this if I’m listening to it with headphones on) So yeah, I definitely feel for Ike and understand what it’s like to have kinda random phobias and I love chat warning Ike about the bells so much 💙💙💙

My family and I watched outlander, a ND the main character is a surgeon, so every time she has to cut someone open or do anything inner body related I had to look away.
To clarify, it's not a gore phobia, I can play mortal kombat or watch most horror movies fine, it's specifically surgical gore I can't stand

I have a very irrational fear of needles. I can't look at them without feeling sick to my stomach. I passed out from hyperventilating when I got a flu vaccination, I passed out from hyperventilating when I got my ears pierced, I cannot be close to needles without going into a panic attack. There is no shame in being afraid of something, no matter how dumb or silly it may seem. All fears are valid, and if we are aware of each other's fears, we can help each other out like we did here with warning Ike. Myself and some discord friends were the first to realize that there were bells in this game and we began to warn Ike in chat. I am so so so thankful the other Quilldren were quick to pick up the message and follow suit to help Ike get the message. With this in mind, those of us who have played games that Ike wants to try can give him advance warning to help make his gaming and streaming experience better like someone else did for the game Sky by posting about it on twitter! I will point out though that some of the chatters, while meaning well, were spamming the bell emoji in chat to warn Ike and that is not a good idea. Sometimes the site of our fear can cause extra, unnecessary anxiety. The yellow warning triangle is the perfect symbol to catch a streamers attention when warning them about something.

Just to let you know, I have the same fear of needles that you do! Especially seeing needles going into skin. First time I had to get my covid vaccination, I was hyperventilating pretty bad, too. So you're not alone. There's always someone out there who probably has the same fear as you.

The newborn baby girls are given piercings on their ears for earrings when they're still babies. Even tho not all females is given that, my cousin is one of them. It's according to the parent's will.
I still have my ear piercings, but I don't wear earrings. I think the holes started to wrap up, but I don't really care.

I remember i known this abt him at the mysta NY stream but forgot. Then i was watching selen's stream and heard ike getting surprised/shocked(?) bc she was running through a bell in the game. Then in the humanfallsflat(i forgor), there were bell sounds in the background and nina pointed it out to him. There was also a church bell in map and i was DESPERATELY praying that ike won't notice it at the background. Phobia is a scary thing (no pun intended)

I know the feeling of having a weird fear that's difficult to avoid and understand. It was so heart-warming to see chat so ready to help him out, warn him, and make sure he felt okay before they continued! I'm so glad people like this still exist in the world

Tbh I remember the Gris stream and when he wasn't ready for this first bell sound like I wasn't there because I was looking at other stuff then I came back to see the whole chat freaking out for him and bells, that took me a moment to figure out on what actually happened but then it's strike I remembered from his wiki that he has a phobia for bells because the chat was saying bells which what hits me, which is not a stupid phobia because I believed a lot of people have struggles with their phobia, like one of my classmate back in highschool have a phobia for rice

I have an irrational fear of balloons. Like, if I see a video with a balloon or if a person is holding a balloon I get so scared. Water balloons are fine tho. The fact that they’re so fragile and make a loud noise when they pop gets to me. I’m always expecting it to pop at any second and I get so on edge that I’ll literally leave whatever is happening when there’s balloons involved. The worst birthday party I went to was a sleep over in someone’s basement with lots of balloons and pointy things and static electricity. They kept popping and like a couple hours in I was crying in the corner cos I couldn’t go home lol
same here lol my parents used to think that i was just joking, and i actually liked them, so each year i was showered with balloons on my birthday, which just made it worse over the years :')

I feel for him, phobias suck. The shit thing is that you know it's irrational and you're like, "Oh this is a thing that I shouldn't be scared of" but your brain just goes into fear overdrive. Nothing really surprises me that you can get a phobia from literally anything. I have my own weird phobia and it sucks having to mask it or suck it up out of embarrassment because people are usually never scared of these things.
Also chat warning Ike about the bell incoming was so wholesome, it made me tear up
I used to have really intense pyrophobia (fear of fire) from trauma. Thankfully It got better after exposure therapy/having friends that smoke. But I really empathize with people that have intense phobias. Even if mine wasn't all that uncommon I just wanna let anyone reading this know that it's okay and nothing to be ashamed of. ❤

I understand Ike so much because I have an even weirder phobia which is I am very very afraid of orchid (yeah, the flower). I used to afraid of all the plants (especially flowers), but I got better and better dealing with the fear. Now, the ones that I couldn't went through are the orchid flowers and some of other weird-looking plants. I feel orchid is the most scary thing in the world. I would freak out when I see the flowers, and even cry or scream when being too close to them. I couldn't even look at pictures or drawings. Imagining the scene in my head also makes me very uncomfortable. Actually, I am shivering when typing out the word "orchid". I don't know where the fear came from. I didn't have this phobia when I was very young. It just appeared with no reason on someday that I have no memory about. Many people (even my family at first) think my behaviors are reasonless, and I always feel I am awkward because of this phobia. So I am kind of glad and also sad at same time when knowing there are many people such as Ike that have similar situations.
PS. When the bell rang, I saw Ike closed his eyes. I feel very bad at that moment because I know what he was experiencing exactly.

Oh, that's so sad! I have a basic one, acrophobia, and I physically regress (like tear up and near-hyperventilate) whenever I see things like plasma balls or anything that reminds me of veins. I'm glad he was strong enough to do this. Dealing with phobias or even small fears can be really hard.

The clip of him trying to sit through all those bells was very sad. That's such a unique phobia. I also saw some people in that chat telling him to mute the audio of the game or taking off the headphones. Which I agree with. I hope he doesn't feel like he needs to put his comfort and mental well being in jeopardy just to appease his audience and improve the quality of his streams and videos. I hope that he does listen to their advice and puts himself and his well-being first from now on. If there's a part in a game with bells, feel free to mute the sound or take off the headset, or just not play the game at all. He has every right to make those choices and decisions🩵

I have a phobia abt sound of footsteps, so when i was 3 yrs old ive played a game then i thought its like a rlly funny game but then its actuslly like a hunting game, i wore a headphone so i can listen to the game clearly but then i heard the ghost's footsteps then i just immediately left the game and also what a unique phobia that Ike got!

I can only imagine what a fear like this would be like. Especially since it’s over something that a lot of people find almost harmless. I have a horrible phobia of loud and sudden noises, and it’s to the point of if I’m doing anything and a thunderclap goes off, I’m dead frozen or I scream. I sometimes can grit my teeth and bare with it like he did, but my head starts pounding and I almost immediately tear up. Mind you, I can stare at viscera or horrible injuries and not even flinch, and I have watched a lot of horror movies that have barely gotten a reaction out of me that everyone else considers horrific, so I’m not exactly a chicken. It’s just that I am terrified when someone yells a bit too loud, a storm rolls through, or someone claps their hands when I’m not paying attention.

I have pretty common phobias but by far my worst one is my trypophobia. Because my friends/acquaintances done have it, they often showed me pictures that really triggered it to the point that my reactions have gotten worse-- to the poiunt that just thinking about it can be bad. And as much as I love the sea(ironically I also have thalassophobia), I cant look at coral reefs or many aquatic animals (like starfish and sand dollars) without feeling nauseous and anxious.
I understand how ike feels because things like irregular patterns/clusters and bells are(most times) unavoidable in daily life. I get headaches, break into cold sweat, I get nauseous in my stomach and throat, I get extremely tense and lock up (if i cant avoid it in time), and I get terrible, terrible skin-crawling chills that will last for days if I'm on edge. Its never fun to experience but regardless may ike only get stronger! Bells may be scary but we are stronger!

I can kinda understand the fear. It's like the sky is playing an ominous sound and it sometimes brings me the feeling of dread. It doesn't even tickle my brain right or wrong, it gives me alarm and it echoes
