I have a G1035P, very similar to the G1026, so you videos on this machine have been very helpful. I have yet to adjust the gib on my shaper but the movement of the spindle has bugged me for a while but I didn’t think there was anyway to correct it. Thanks for the videos and ignore the criticisms you get. I believe your opinions are honest.
I have the exact same model and my thoughts were; well it is around the same price range as a cast iron router table (no mdf table with aluminum fence! (Junk) and it has a 3HP motor. But yes, I feel your pain with everything you discussed in the video. If need be I will remove the motor and install a router.
It’s working just fine now after the tweaks. About the only thing to complain about is no spindle lock.. no biggie just inconvenient. Thanks for your comment
I have two JET shapers for building cabinet doors and other operations. A friend of mine had a Grizzly and he was not happy with it. The JET has a nice fine adjustments on the fence. The spindles have a spindle nut to attach it to the main spindle and a draw bar. It runs very smooth with no spindle run out. The Grizzly fence adjustment has crud threaded rods and just a draw bar to hold the spindle on to the main spindle. Grizzly quality is just not there.
Grizzly G1026 3HP Shaper is that the same as the Shop Fox W1702 3HP Shaper ? They look exactly alike. Only difference is the Fence / Grizzly has a large block ( Shroud) of steel over the spindle where as Shop Fox has a plastic shroud in that same location. I purchased a used Shop Fox w1702 without a fence and when I went to get a replacement. I was told at the Service center that the top is predrilled for both the Grizzly fence and the Shop Fox Fence mounting so which one would I want to purchase. I went with the Shop Fox and made a Felder ( AIGNER) style fence guide out of Hardwood with sliding dove tail for the gap. infeed and outfeed sides. Only thing I don't like is the 3inch dust port and finding a 3 inch to 4 inch adaptor.
Yeah that 3” dust port just adds to getting it set up. Mine is pre drilled in two spots. I just moved the fence assembly to the rear set to give me more adjustment room.
I just picked up a used version of this and then bought the dust port (G4839). At $30, I figured it's worth a try. I haven't installed it yet so I have no opinion to provide, just pointing out that one exists. Thanks for a solid review! Would have loved to see it in action.
Dust port is a definite must unless you want your shop ankle deep in shavings. I would love to do more extensive videos, but my rural dsl limits me. At maximum 8mbps, my videos generally take 13 hrs or longer to upload. With better internet I could put out more content for sure. Thanks for the compliment and best of luck with your new machine.
I'd really like to see the dust collector hookup you build! I'm struggling with an old discontinued tablesaw that needs a guard and top dust collector.
Unfortunately not yet. I have made cabinet doors with a stile and rail kit on mine. It’s pretty easy after you’ve done it a couple times. I will make one soon and video it. Happy Easter
I had a Jet before this one and it was better. Had a spindle lock for loosening bits. Beats double wrenching. The Grizzly works, it’s just like a lot of things they make. Just lacks some engineering features, and sloppy on quality control in assembly.
Same model? I saw the dust collection chute as an accessory. The dust chute i can make, but the shaft movement is horrible to deal with.. Hopefully if yours is the same model, they corrected the problems..if so..Great for Grizzly.
@@tupelowoodcarver1785 G1026, I bought mine in 2014, like i said mine doesn't have that play, I mean lets not kid our selves, I bought grizzly because I was stepping over a dollar to pick up a penny,

Thank you very much. My shaper is much better since the adjustment. I try to be honest about my reviews..good and bad.

Exactly. My Jet had a spindle lock for removing bits too which my Grizzly lacks. The Jet was a much better machine..

Thanks for the review. What was the part# for the router bit collet? Did you get it from Grizzly?
Thanks for the nice comment. Yes I got the collet from Grizzly.

There's a lot of complaints and I am trying to figure out why you bought it in the first place.
Actually the planer runs fine now. A helical head would have been better, but I’m not unhappy with the unit. It hasn’t had any more problems.
I'd really like to see the dust collector hookup you build! I'm struggling with an old discontinued tablesaw that needs a guard and top dust collector.
I will upload the video for you. I will try and get it up by this weekend. Does your old cabinet saw have an enclosed or open base?
Had a tree fall on my shop. Dust collection video is on “pause” for a few days, but I’ll try and get it out this week.
I have the shop Fox w 17 0 2 It almost looked identical to yours Do you have any videos of you making cabinet doors With router bits

They are well aware, that no one will use that guard. It's included, so they don't get sued, when someone feeds their hand into it.
Easier to do with the guard on actually..lol
Yo conseguí una pero le falta el eje me puedes ayudar con más información como los puedo conseguir?
I'm shopping for a shaper now and this video is enough for me to steer clear of Grizzly. It's a shame because they are based in my state.

Mine came with the dust collection hook up, and mine doesn't move when i lock it either

How old is the machine?
The machine is 3 years old.
Did you change the belt speeds to run router bits instead of the cutters?
Yes I switched to the high speed for router bits.
Kick ass

How do I check or change the oil on the G1026,
