I love that they have J returning home in this. (But his plane was 3 hrs late!)
A lot of the costuming and makeup is from My Mother Told Me. It was a typical Florida day, they all wore leather and furs, and the air conditioning in the studio was out! Among their tattoos are runes spelling out VoicePlay.
Eli did the amazing backgrounds using Unreal Engine like he did MMTM. It was filmed, not green screen, but at a studio with immense (Full wall!) LED screens.
The music in the outro is the karaoke track. The percussion and background vocals and it could be a piece on its own because it’s also gorgeous.
Note to Geoff: Heimdahl called. He wants his Gjallarhorn back. ☄️
When you watch other reactors, you'll laugh. What it Do Dave's face goes in 100 directions with expressions. Saucy loses his mind but Oofy loses his mind and falls on floor awhile. I was crying laughing!😂 thank you for your reaction! I really enjoy your channel!❤
Actually J was with them, though his plane was three hours late which was stress inducing.

Oh, and JNone playing a black Viking rapper has broken just about every reactor. It IS in keeping with the Viking spirit of going into battle and fits in this updated version but is totally unexpected. According to some research there may have actually been some very dark Vikings in Greenland at one point.
Great reaction to this. This has broken all the other reactors so far. 307 Reacts will be reacting this coming week as well as Kaz and hopefully Sarah. Have already warned them that they can't be prepared for this. Geoff Castellucci released a new solo version of "Man Of Constant Sorrow". He even wrote a new bridge to add to song.
Kaz will totally malfunction when her and Sarah watch this.

Now this is just my observation, but I think the reason J None was filmed away from the rest of the group at the beginning was to represent him being away with the Navy, then coming "home" to his brothers to slay our senses with their immense talents and mind blowing vocals.

I've watched this a bunch of times with a bunch of reactors, and I think I just figured something out. (Maybe i am thick and everyone else already got this, but...) The group of four singing ARE ALREADY IN VALHALLA, and they are calling to J-NONE to come join them. Thats why that first time the 4 sing together "Valhalla calling" and then J-NONE sings alone "Me." Knowing that J-NONE is on active duty tour with the US Navy, I wonder if this is a way for Voiceplay to say they are holding his space open if and when he wants to return after serving.
I never thought of that, but I really hope that it's right.

These guys have NO limits. EPIC!! That very first *really* low note you hear from Geoff is a B0 and he held it for 15 seconds. He's only hit it one other time (HALO) but he hits it THREE times in this. Layne's arrangement and percussion was off the chain. Cesar channeling his inner warrior was awesome to see. Eli the rock god did a ton of technical work on this with the backgrounds. And then J spittin' out those bars. No way to pick a favorite for this one. J actually was there with them to film. The backgrounds were created by Eli with Unreal Engines, an alternative to green screen.

We have to remind ourselves that VoicePlay are the Theater Kids of Acappella. Caesar embracing his inner Viking, Geoff putting out the Viking War Horn, Eli throwing in Rock God bits are all ways to make these characters stand out in our mind forever. And I think Eli did go "Raaah" and put a few layers on it in post production. He did the backgrounds with Unreal Engine software.
He was with them at some time, He was flying in, Cathy was picking him up, plane was 3 hours late.
I think he got dressed and walked right onto set threw those doors.
Upper 90s and no AC the guys in full costume where waiting on him.

You were right initially, JNone was off site and Eli put him "IN" with them using Unreal Engine. It's all part of upping their game every video.
I’ve seen others saying this and I have no clue where it came from.
J flew in and they did this all on site together. The behind the scenes video included Kathy talking about J’s plane being late, and plenty of footage of him on set and horsing around with the guys.

They definitely weren't tiptoeing through this one! They've broken SO many reactors it isn't funny. I am not sure any of us were ready for this phenomenal piece, but we're so glad they gave it to us anyway.

I can sympathize with you. I gave up trying to do critical analysis of this one when Geoff hit the B0, came up a couple of tones for a few seconds, and then went right back down to the B0. In a year or two, after I've seen a few dozen more reactions and gotten some more ideas, I'll have figured out a part of what they did in this one. Maybe.

closed captions are my friend, ESPECIALLY when J None starts rapping! When the patron list was scrolling they were playing their karaoke track, you could hear those harmonies so well. This was just amazing. Layne was amazing in this! I have to remind myself that J didn't actually crash through a wooden door that creaked shut behind him. That was all Layne too!

You are one of the few reactors I subscribed to on my first viewing of them. But you were so fun to watch, such enthusiasm and appreciation for Voiceplay, I just had to. Usually I watch at least three videos first, before I subscribe, if I do.
Who would each of them be as Norse gods? I’m pegging Eli for Loki and Layne for Oden, but I’m willing to listen to arguments.
This might have been said before in a comment so if I repeat someone, I apologize but I wanted to say that I watched their Behind the Scenes for this song and they actually were all in the same room singing this. Eli created the backgrounds through an AI/video game simulator program but they were all in the same room. It was also 90 degrees in Florida when they were filming this and the AC broke in the building in which they were filming so they were all dying of heat but they love what they do and thus persevered and hell yeah!

Wot?!?!? The same day???? That takes nerves of steel, especially after his flight being 3 hours late... Amazing they were able to shoot the required scenes and parts of the song to such a great level with that amount of stress going on and in less time.
Most accopella groups are 5 members. For a while now the group has rolled 4+guest. If they go to 5 permanent members someone must sit out to allow for a guest and I don't see that happening on a regular basis.
J.None also rapped in their cover of Superstition.
Another broken reactor! 😂I was excited about this release after seeing the short that heralded it. I love this song and VP did not disappoint! I now have 6 versions of it on my Vikings playlist and I couldn't say which is top because they are all so different yet great in their own way.
The guys all look so fierce. Cesar was scarily fierce and into character! They all, to a degree, brought their inner rock gods out to play (some more than others) and I'm all for that! In the credits, if I remember correctly, they state who wrote the rap section - it wasn't Gavin, Miracle of Sound, who has commented that it's the most creative version of his song that he's heard.

Coz it shifts me back living in Iceland and in a times when I went to university and there was bunch of bands, from Iceland, Norway, Denmark and sounds those voices could produce to make that viking atmosphere wich is part of their culture and history.. some bands would just cause you to shiver.. if you are into that type of Nordic viking songs you should check band skald and their songs vallhala,odinn, gleipnir, band wardruna and their song lufjaberg. If you will be interested to check those I can provide the translation of lyrics if you would ever be interested in those...
