Great review! I used that hand pump wax injector when I was in high school 1981-85.

The hand pump one is soooo old, but it hasn't given up yet. Probably last for another 20-30 years lol

Great video. What compressor do you use?

Good review of the wax injector, had one similar many years ago but have moved on to a vacuum wax injector. Came across some good clamps a few months ago, on utube, maybe you should look these out , Bessey Auto adjust toggle clamps , easy to adjust and applies the same pressure on an object regardless the difference in the thickness. will be getting some of these myself soon , not cheap but sure that 2 clamps could be set up on a piece of timber to help with a lot of moulds. the fact that the pressure is the same each time is the key to getting good consistant waxes out. Hope this helps . regards, John from Australia

something along the lines of the ideal gas law applies here. ya got pressure, volume and temperature as outcome dependent variables in one piece of equipment. its kinda remarkable. wax depletes, volume increases in wax chamber, volume increases pressure goes down, heat has less wax to go into, less energy going into the system. mold not filling out all the way? so you increase pressure, increasing pressure, increases temp as well. its whole can of worms that requires active monitoring.
thanks for the demo and i wanna say that spill tray is beautiful.

I have mine on a compressor and have not had the pressure creek you have experienced. I agree with your critique of the the temp control which I find also fluctuates. This unit has a max temp of about 200F so I don't think it can handle carve-able waxes.

You can try the Freeman carvable purple if you are looking for cartable injection wax, its about 170.F.

You’re a pro’ thank you for every video. I have a Chinese one I bought with the temp markings but it’s not really accurate not that I really mind.

Is venting of the mold needed or will the air just force it's way out of the mold?

Vents are needed depending on the design. Something like our droplet hangers are simple enough, we have two molds neither of which have vents. But something like our frog ear weights we have several vents throughout.

What pressure did you use? I kept getting wax flowing out from the sides😢

The pressure and temperature used when doing wax injection will vary between the models you’re trying to inject.
On average, we fluctuate around 10 psi and somewhere in the 140 to 160 Fahrenheit range .
But again, the settings you use will depend on what you’re injecting .
If you have recurring flashing on your injections, definitely would review your mould quality and the pressure that you’re holding on your moulds during injection.

We have it on a smart switch and turn it on an hour before getting into the studio so it's ready to go.

Use the small Vice Grip Paddle clamps. Don't buy the Chinese ones, they have to much thread lash.
