For the love of god do Bastion's short animated, it's insane how they manage to make us feel so much for a robot, how they manage to convey emotion without human features and not a single line of dialog !! Amazing story telling
I look forward to reacting to that, I will also discuss filmmaking techniques so peeps understand how the stories work better. Hope you like it once I've done it. Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss out. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! KZ.
I love the fact that even in the background small bits of backstory are told, like the giant tapestry with writing on it being cut and splattered with blood, telling us that this is where the duel took place, that "killed" Genji. And the handle of the blade being wrapped in blue clearly shows that this is the blade Hanzo used to do it and that he must have been the better swordfighter back then, but also that he has put the blade down for good afterwards, clearly not even tempted to pick it back up, which would obviously be the smart thing to do in close quarters like this.
All of the Overwatch character cinematics are awesome but my two favorites by far are "Dragons" and "Honor and Glory." Pretty much all of Blizzard games (Overwatch, Diablo, World of Warcraft" cinematics are incredible. I wish the Blizzard cinematic team could be given money to make feature length movies.
Story wise, Hanzo was lost after he “kills” genji. He disowns his family for forcing him to do that and he basically becomes a drifter. Talon, the terrorist organization in the overwatch universe, attempts to recruit Hanzo into their ranks. He more than likely would have said yes. Once genji catches wind of this, he decides to come out of the shadows and reveal to hanzo he’s still alive. That’s why he tells him the world is changing once again and that it’s time to pick a side. That’s why genjis forgiveness of hanzo is so powerful in that scene.
Another lovely part of this particular short is that it was an in-game place before the short came out, so he climbs walls that the viewer is familiar with, takes flank routes that players often take, and the phrases they say when they unleash the dragons happens in-game as a warning to enemies. It's such a unique level of intimacy with the cinematic that I've just never seen anywhere else.
Additionally, you can actually find the arrows that genji deflected, the throwing stars that missed Hanzo at the beginning, and all the damage that occurs in this cinematic in the playable ingame map.
My favourite detail about this whole cinematic is someone in the cinematic's comments says that when hanzo gets hit by the dragons, he only gets hit by his own, genjis green dragon not even coming close to him. possibly symbolizing that hanzo is only hurting himself, touching stuff... great video!
One little detail I always enjoyed in this, is at around 33:15 in your video, when Genji has dashed forward and is holding still with the blade against Hanzo's neck, both of them have a ribbon on their wardrobe, fluttering from his dash. They almost blend into each other from the camera placement, but if you look you can see how Genji stopped so fast, his ribbon still fluttered forward on the breeze, and Hanzo's got swept up in that same breeze, to flutter, side by side with his brothers. Almost like 2 dragon tails.
My favorite detail is that Hanzo has a green headband and Genji has a blue one. This further shows that without one brother, there would literally be no other, because they grew up together and are an important part of each other's lives Thanks to your analysis, one can notice many interesting details and understand what a difficult job was done.
The music was the first thing for me, probably why it hit me right in the feels amd got me all emotional. Thanks for watching the video, hopefully you'll like my content enough to subscribe ✌🏻KZ.
I love it, kind of makes that scene have even more meaning now. I wish I had your knowledge just for that first time viewing. Yikes! Thank you for watching too, more Overwatch to come so I hope you enjoyed it enough to subscribe as they are on their way. KZ.
One thing I’ll say here, is that placement of the chipped sword in front of the banner was no accident. It’s actually a shrine exactly where Hanzo struck down his brother Genji. That’s why the banner had been ripped and you could what looks to be blood marks on the banner.
If u havent already seen it i would recommend another Overwatch cinematic called “Honor and Glory” Its another moment where there is alot of caracter building and life impacting moments for a caracter as he realise that life isent just a big playground and there are responsabilitys and consequences to your actions. If u liked this then your gonna love the “Honor and Glory” cinematic.
Thank you for the recommendation, I will certainly do a reaction and filmmakers analysis on it. Please consider subscribing so you don't miss out when I post it. Thanks for watching and commenting. KZ.
Honor and Glory never fails to make me emotional. For a long time I was a Mercy one trick but that cinematic convinced me to try Rein out and now I've got a couple hundred hours on him.
this is the only animated trailer that makes me cry every time, I don't have a brother, but I feel the whole atmosphere and mood, all this tension, this tragedy, how did they manage to fit all this storm of emotions for such a video...
I've watched Dragons several times, and I've watched many others react to it. I never noticed until you pointed it out, Genji observing Hanzo outside of the Shamada compound at the beginning.
Made my way here from your Bastion review. Super happy I came! Not all the Overwatch shorts are quite as emotionally impactful but you’ve selected two of the best. Honor and Glory is a fabulous character study. Another great bit of world building is Alive. Thanks for diving in, dude.
Your channel just randomly popped up because you were covering games that I love - and I've been hooked ever since. It's fascinating seeing you catch things that I noticed even when you know barely anything about the subject in the videos/cinematics! I especially loved watching you cover Starcraft and drawing your own blind conclusions on what was going on specifically because of how they set up the shots.
Great reaction and insightful breakdown! Please do more Overwatch cinematics - your filmmaking analysis and appreciation for the art is incredible! Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more!
Thank you, best comment ever! Thank you for subscribing and I will certainly do more reactions to the Overwatch Cinematics. More to come but with a slight twist in format as I'm still find my groove✌🏻 KZ.
Thank you for watching! Going forward, I may not go into that much detail/information as putting them together is proving time consuming. More Overwatch cinematics coming, make sure you subscribe so you don't miss them. Thank you again for watching🙏🏻 KZ.
...what I just noticed rewatching your breakdown is the shot you paused at 35:43 ... Not centered ... Two pillar gaps behind Hanzo, only one behind Genji ... Number of dragons they control. Going down another rabbit hole with this one
If you have stereo headphones: 4:40 " ... that your Brother disobeyed the clan ..." You can hear Genji in your left ear. Hanzo shoots the arrow in that direction. 4:44 "... and you had to kill him to maintain order." Now you hear Genji's voice in your right ear, and Hanzo looks over his shoulder to see Genji standing to his right. This is subtle and foreshadowing, strengthing Genji's reveal. I love how games fool your eyes and ears. Please note: I don't know the exact wordings for each character. I just wanted to point out the stereo effect pulling the viewer left and right.
The beautiful part is, the whole trailer was shot on the in-game _Hanamura_ map, and all those little Lore details are there in-game, including the arrow Hanzo shot that got stuck in the floor at the entrance. 18:32 Notice the notch in the katana blade. Hanzo used to fight with swords, but after he lethally wounded Genji with that blade, he swore to never used it again and only used the bow since then. 40:43 the feather that floats away when Genji disappears in a puff of smoke like a stage-play Ninja is there because Genji's nickname as a boy was "sparrow", according to the description of the "Young Genji" in-game character skin.
Quite late to this but what I loved about it that I don't think you mentioned, was around 4:40, when Hanzo fires two arrows at Genji. Genji tells Hanzo that Hanzo tells himself it was his duty, Hanzo doubles down on it and say its WAS his duty but also his burden. The way Genji deflects the first one is done so nonchalantly it feels like a dismissal of Hanzo's assertion. Then with his second arrow, he claims to continue to honor his brother, and for this one Genji slices it in half, more like an outright rejection of his statement this time. Hanzo's reaction sort of supports that, given he rushes angrily like what Genji did was disrepectful or saying "You are no threat to me." Genji doesn't want his brother stuck in the past, that is why he is there, to reveal himself and push him in the right direction after all this time. He tells him he is forgiven but that he must still forgive himself and move forward. I might be reading into it but it feels intentional. Very well-choreographed it feels like. Genji isnt able to show his feelings like Hanzo's face can, but if I were there to help my brother and he was saying stuff like that it would probably anger me too. His fighting style may reflect some of what Hanzo's face is doing, and given all the effort you pointed out that went into that, I could absolutely see that being the case with the choreography too. great video.
It's the clever storytelling beats filmmakers use, I use a lot of hidden messaging within my scripts. If you enjoyed this, please consider subscribing as there is more Overwatch reactions to come, I hear they are just as good as this one so I'm excited. I may not go into so much detail/breakdown going forward as they take so long to produce however, I will deliver clever techniques like the Hanzo eye transition in a rapid fire section. I hope you like, thank you again for watching. KZ.
Thank you for this breakdown ... I've always loved this story because a lot of it requires inference. When you broke down 'the voice of god', was absolutely true if you also infer that in a child's eye, your parent is god. And in this case, the brilliance of Cary's voicework is done as Hanzo and Genji's father, only adds to the poignant and inescapable nature of HIS story. You get to infer so much once you realize you are not being told this story - you are hearing it as a fly on the wall (so to speak) as he's telling it to his children. Reinforced by the simple, but important line near the end "real life is not like the stories our father told us, you are a fool for believing it so." You get to infer that this was fabled to happen to House Shimada - and why Hanzo gives up his sword - his dragonhood - to be human. Because of how you've explained the nitty gritty of cinematography though, I no longer have to infer the things I can't. Your details on lighting were very informative. I've only ever known how to describe the characteristics of a Leitmotif, but didn't know what it was. Very informative - but you also never shied away from the fact that the story has to work FIRST. And love we get to watch your reactions first before you break everything down. Already watched your Last Bastion video and will watch everything to come. Absolutely fantastic Kai.
Amazing! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. Bit of a difference in format but The Last Bastion is how I'm going ahead in the future (for now). Regarding the voice of God, I never considered it to be their father, that's a very powerful VO if so. Love it! I hope you enjoy all my upcoming video, KZ.
late comment, but i love how you discuss the plot in the overwatch cinematics. obviously, they’re visually stunning, but the symbolism and the way the cinematography emphasizes the storytelling is something i don’t see many people break down. awesome video!
The Kiriko short from Overwatch is hands down my favorite, brings all the emotions to the surface. I can't not get a chill down my spine when I watch it.
If you notice, the characters' colour scheme is the same as the dragons. Hanzo's blue is subdued throughout the trailer until the climactic dragon arrow scene. On the other hand, Genji is grey in the earlier part of the cinematic UNTIL the assassination scene where he goes BAM! Green. This also comes after the confirmation (min 20:25) of Hanzo's blue dragon. Amazing!
Love your analysis, very insightful. One lil thing i'd like to add, though: 37:20 No, he doesn't look that grotesque, but there is overwatch lore to consider, aside from the fact that Hanzo also bears the responsibility. Overwatch happens after a massive war against robots, that humans won. And while peaceful robots still exist, they are often shunned and hated by many people. And while Genji is still technically human, most of his body is robotic after his near-death. Which is something he initially really struggled with, on top of the fact that his brother damn near killed him and his clan evidently doesn't care about him anymore. So that little exchange of "What have you become?" "I have accepted what i am" i think more refers to that bit of overarching world lore.
guyver reference damn. i dont usually stick around for breakdowns but youve got a hell of an eye and ability to interpret queues and good story flow. im a graphic/motion designer, mostly slapping togethers ads, but i love fantasy and videogames and storytelling. wow i wish i pursued film or something narrative-based. great vid! i see lots of good recommendations in the comments - most of these are banger cinematics. overwatch 2 had a super cool cinematic trailer called 'zero hour' which id recommend checking out after you see all of the overwatch 1 cinematics. great stories jammed into just a handful of minutes, all of these
I love the Guyver, if I move my body enough in the Filmmaker Reacts videos, you can actually see my Guyver collection in the display cabinets! I've changed the way I do the Filmmaker Reacts now so it's more information over a shorter period of time, I hope you still enjoy them (my fingers are crossed)! My main thing is story analysis with these so I sound like the perfect channel for you! BTW, it's never too late to get involved with filming or storytelling. Make your own films just for you, TH-cam perhaps? If you have no spare time because of family and life commitments, just write it down and start that novel. Everything I go over within these videos, you can use in a written form too. The way I talk about lighting, describe it, if you're shooting it with a mobile phone, try and back light it. Let me know if you do dabble in anything, I'd love to hear it! Lastly, thank you for the recommendation and just to give you a heads up, the video I'm editing right now, is another Overwatch short. Should be out either tonight or tomorrow. I hope you enjoy it my friend, KZ.
@@kaizammit Brilliant, easy subscribe! I've been writing all year. I just enjoy the process to be honest. I hope it all culminates to something! Watching Guyver 2 Dark Hero as a kid did things to me. It was like Power Rangers on crack. I love that impactful and sometimes brutal style of action. Looking forward to all and any new content!!! Btw, if Star Wars The Old Republic cinematic trailers aren't on your list - those are really good ones too 👍- cheers!
Good to hear! I'm sure the writing will, it will probably change the way you put ads together. Looking for a way to give it a story, even if it's in the layout of something. Biobooster Armour, it made me the fanatic I am for anime today. I watched the manga first (12 OG episodes) and then Dark Hero after. I still to this day, shout Guyver or say Guyver like how the first Zoanoid did in the woods (the bear). I've had a few comments on Star Wars and they are on my list so I hope you enjoy those videos. Thank you for the sub and thank you for helping my new channel grow, KZ.
Newcomer here, great video! I really like your breakdown after the video, really insightful, i'm subbing, and hoping to see more, you have a love of these Overwatch cinematics to watch!
I'm glad you enjoyed the breakdown! I've changed the format slightly on how I analyse the films, check out my Space Marine 2 reaction to see what my future content (format) looks like. Still heavily broken down, just without the fluff so it's shorter for you peeps. Thank you for the sub and I look forward to seeing your comments on future videos. It want the channel to be shaped by viewers like yourself. ✌🏻KZ.
I've already covered The Last Bastion, it's on the channel. I'm going to be filming Honor and Glory next week so that will be out soon on the channel. Thank you so much for watching. KZ
Another great video! Your analysis of these shorts is unparalleled on TH-cam. Please do all of the OW shorts in chronological order. I would love to hear your thoughts on the whole story they tell.
The other really cool motif to me in this that you need a bit of lore to know about is the feather that Hanzo brings with him and that Genji leaves behind when he vanishes is a Sparrow's feather because Genji's nickname prior to almost dying to Hanzo was Sparrow
Sorry but had too much to mention for one post. Nice pickup on the Gyuver influence. That’s intentional, along with other sentai design sensibilities. And you’re right about the weapon showcase. Part of these as a sales tool is to show players what they can do in the game. They managed it in ways that draw you into the scene rather than pulling you out. Loving your work!
I never did catch on during that transition of Hanzo's face to the story and the sound of the sword swing might mean he's reliving the moment he mortally wounded his brother and he still comes back every year to remind himself if not punish himself for what he did.
Ooo since you watched this, you can continue the story with Kiriko's(new character) cinematics. She is family friends of the Shimada Family the 2 in this video. :) Oh! Those guards from this video is in it too XD. That is all I'll say lol.
I've covered the Last Bastion if you haven't already seen that video!? I've only just started the channel but I will be covering all the OW cinematics and the other franchises of Blizzard. Depending on how I react to the film, it will either be a story analysis or filmmaker breakdown (tips and tricks about filmmaking). Hope you like them, KZ.
@@kaizammit Yes! I am so excited to hear you say this! One of my favorite pastimes is to watch people react to these Overwatch cinematics! I love the joy that they usually express towards these works of art. I was already going to watch the Bastion video after this one but I was dreading that their might not be any more after that. I am now eagerly waiting for the one after Bastion. ^_^ Thank you for your amazing breakdown, too.
Thank you so much for watching! My next Overwatch video will be Honor and Glory. Not sure when I'm filming it though as I'm dabbling with other franchises too. KZ
if you liked this cinematic you need to watch the 2 cinematics riot released for yone and yasuo. its sort of in 2 parts. 1st is "the Path, an ionian myth 2nd Kin of the stained blade both are done really well and if you watch them in that order you will appreciate the 1st one more after watching the 2nd one. the 2nd is the better one throwing in multiple animation styles to vary between flash back and present. its beautiful
I actually just found your channel today and I have been bingeing your videos! Thanks for sharing your insight! Blizzard, in my opinion, produces arguably the best short/intro cinematics. I would love to see you react to a world of warcraft intro cinematics (perhaps wrath of the lich king) or the overwatch 2 announcement trailer, leaning a bit more to the latter! I subbed and looking forward to future content
I don't think anyones mentioned it but the story also effected the map itself. The broken lantern and railings are there in the map, hanzo's arrows are still lodged in the wood and tatami mats.
Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed it and if you're into filmmaking, learnt something too. ✌🏻 Oh, you're the first person to comment too which means, you're a top 🍌 in my books. Thank you again.
It's an understated detail, but Hanzo (The Archer) believed that Genji was an omnic (robot) at the start of the fight. It's one of several factors of why he had so much distaste for him, aside from self defense. Remember, he took out all the guards non-lethally. Except the onjoc guard. He just straight got an arrow to the chest!
Yeah, _Dragons_ is indeed one of the best Overwatch cinematic character trailers, alongside the story trailer for Bastion ("The Last Bastion") and the one for Reinhardt ("Honour and Glory") which were released when the Eichenwalde map was introduced to the old Overwatch, as they are both set in the past during the Omnic Crisis and the siege of Eichenwalde on the Omnic robot army's way to Stuttgart, being stopped by the German army's power-armour platoon, the Crusaders. So those two go side by side, one seen from the side of the human defenders and the other one being about one of those machines (who got lost on the way to the battle). The second story trailer for Junkrat and Roadhog that went along with the Junkertown map ("Junkertown: The Plan") was a funny character piece, but it was less a full animation and instead just Machinima; custom character animations, sure, but the whole vibe and how it was lit looked more like in-game footage and less like a movie. Its music and intro sequence felt very Cowboy Bebop.
Also, Hanzo is just such a delightful "giant ham", even in his in-game voice lines. Everything he says is always so grave and so over the top melodramatic, as if he walked out of an stage play. Not to mention him walking around in that anachronistic Japanese outfit and with bow and arrow in the 2070s in an age of cyborgs and flying cars. The other characters keep gently teasing him about it. Although Blizzard later gave the character additional alternate model versions where Hanzo "goes on a journey of selfdiscovery" and puts on some damn clothes that are more modern. But those street clothes are so damn Hipster, with a hoodie and a golden dragon printed right across the bottom of his trousers, and his top-knot hair now with an undercut... but with his greying temples he looks like he wants the whole world to know he's going through his midlife crisis. 😄
I never looked into what the Spirit Dragons do to humans from the lore of Overwatch, but my guess is that they rob whoever they hit of all their current energy, leaving them severely weakened or knocked out.
My theory is that they also burn in a way, mostly because Genji’s skin looks burned in this and in some of his skins. I assume that’s why Genji only sends Hanzo’s own dragons through him, since he probably can’t be as hurt by them.
You should check out Kiriko, another overwatch cinematic. Dramatic, emotional, story-driven, action. My favorite, and I haven't played the game for literal years.
Thank you for watching, I'll add that to my list. From how you've described it, I'm excited to watch it, sounds like my kind of shortform content. I'm filming another Overwatch cinematic tonight so make sure you subscribe so you can check them out. Thank you again, KZ.

TF2's End of The Line is a great piece of animation with a story that has no words said at all, or Once Upon a 2fort Pt 1 and 2. Both are great pieces of content made by fans with End of the Line being used by Valve in the Official Update as the trailer. There is a great deal of SFM creators that have done good pieces of story telling.
"Did the story work?" ... oh well, did it now? For me, as a younger brother of two, it always makes the waters work ... and this cinematic helped me to become closer and more understanding to my older brother ... it is one of a kind.
One of my favorites as a cinematic, but definitely one of the maps I hate the most 🤣 I have always loved Blizz's cinematic's they never disappoint in that department at least.
They are coming, still debating if I do them individually so you get the content faster or put a few together so it's a bulk watching. Out of curiosity, what would you prefer? Thank you so much for the sub, you are now considered a friend! ✌🏻KZ
@@kaizammit Hard to say. I think whatever brings the better quality analysis. If neither of those changes the way you analyze the trailer then I think I prefer the individual videos.
Did the story work? - He asked, after half an hour of breaking down this masterpiece. Blizzard deserved their fair share of criticism for some things, but their cinematics are just great. Might as well just go ahead and add all of their works to the list. Some of them might be a little disappointing RELATIVELY TO THE OTHERS, but when they hit - they hit hard.
Little extra tidbit to the overall story. The voice of the narrator is actually the father of Hanzo and Genji, the former leader of the Shamada crime family.
I'm not overly familiar with the lore of Hanzo and Genji except what is revealed here. While playing the game though, there are dialogue between other characters that kind of hints that the Shimada family/corporation aren't really good and is implied they are a crime syndicate. As for Genji's return, he essentially had to be brought back with cybernetic implants to keep him alive (i.e. Robocop) and left to stay in a monastery with monks to come to peace with himself (and his brother). Also, the sword at the altar is implied that it belongs to Hanzo and the scroll on the wall had a cut and blood stains on it which I can only gather was from when Hanzo supposedly killed Genji; in the game, Hanzo makes mention that he won't ever use a sword again, implying it was used to kill Genji. That said, if Genji is that skilled with a sword, makes me wonder how good Hanzo had to be with a sword to have killed him with one.
A viewer told me he was a master with it hence he overpowered his brother. Thank you for watching and commenting on multiple videos. I hope you're enjoying my channel and what I bring to the world of TH-cam. KZ

Very knowledgeable and entertaining breakdown. The Blizzard cinematic team does incredible work.
Thank you for watching! Going forward, I may not go into that much detail/information as putting them together is proving time consuming. More Overwatch cinematics coming, make sure you subscribe so you don't miss them. Thank you again for watching🙏🏻 KZ.
@@kaizammit Understandable.
You should definitely add Star Wars Old Republic "Betrayed" cinematic to your todo list.
Consider it added, thank you @brbrd102.
...what I just noticed rewatching your breakdown is the shot you paused at 35:43 ... Not centered ... Two pillar gaps behind Hanzo, only one behind Genji ... Number of dragons they control. Going down another rabbit hole with this one
Could be! You never really know with these things. Great spot! KZ
The best reaction and analysis. Tyvm for reaction!
Thank you for the very awesome comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it, KZ.
Oh my lord, I didn't notice the eye-match cut actually! I love this mate!
Wait, that is their father?! :o I never realized that! That adds a whole new depth to one of my favorite cinematics! Thank you for the knowledge. :D
How did i never notice genji all huge in that first shot?!
late comment, but i love how you discuss the plot in the overwatch cinematics. obviously, they’re visually stunning, but the symbolism and the way the cinematography emphasizes the storytelling is something i don’t see many people break down. awesome video!
Thank you so much for watching! It doesn't matter how late a comment is on a video, I always read them.
The Kiriko short from Overwatch is hands down my favorite, brings all the emotions to the surface. I can't not get a chill down my spine when I watch it.
Sounds good, I'll look forward to that then, thanks. KZ
One lil thing i'd like to add, though:
37:20 No, he doesn't look that grotesque, but there is overwatch lore to consider, aside from the fact that Hanzo also bears the responsibility.
Thank you so much for watching.
guyver reference damn. i dont usually stick around for breakdowns but youve got a hell of an eye and ability to interpret queues and good story flow. im a graphic/motion designer, mostly slapping togethers ads, but i love fantasy and videogames and storytelling. wow i wish i pursued film or something narrative-based. great vid! i see lots of good recommendations in the comments - most of these are banger cinematics. overwatch 2 had a super cool cinematic trailer called 'zero hour' which id recommend checking out after you see all of the overwatch 1 cinematics. great stories jammed into just a handful of minutes, all of these
I love the Guyver, if I move my body enough in the Filmmaker Reacts videos, you can actually see my Guyver collection in the display cabinets!
✌🏻KZ.
Love the reaction 🤎 all the overwatch cinematics are beautiful, i suggest checking out 'the last bastion' next! It has no dialogue
Amazing, I'll make sure that's the next Overwatch film to checkout. Curious with the no dialogue... thank you, KZ.
You gotta do Honor and Glory. My personal favorite OW cinematic.
I'll add it to my list! This Saturday, I should have finished editing my reaction to another Overwatch short film. Keep an eye out for it, KZ. ✌🏻
first video I’ve ever seen from you and I’ve already subscribed. I cant wait to see you review other of the overwatch cinematics!!
Ryujin no ken wo Kurae !
You should Watch the Overwatch2 intro, that’s pretty dope!
I will be covering all of the Overwatch shorts/intros so stick around with the channel and I hope you enjoy! Thank you for watching, KZ.
Crazzy how this cinematics are still the best thing blizzard did for Overwatch ALL these years later
quality of the reaction for such an small channel is amazing, keep it up
Glad you enjoyed it! Hope you stick around with the channel. KZ
Oh! Those guards from this video is in it too XD. That is all I'll say lol.
I look forward to watching it! I'm guessing the one that hit his head!? That bit cracked me up.
@kaizammit indeed! haha
I'm excited for the inevitable visit to "Honor and Glory".
I have watched this multiple times and somehow never noticed Genji in the first few seconds of the short before.
I love this. Please do more blizzard cinematics
KZ
You'd genuinely enjoy the burdens of shahao series they made for mists of pandaria in wow. Highly recommend it
First time seeing this video.
I liked Genji for his play style. Now I love him for his character.
You gotta do honor and glory from the Overwatch Team as well. Very well done storytelling.
if you liked this cinematic you need to watch the 2 cinematics riot released for yone and yasuo. its sort of in 2 parts.
1st is "the Path, an ionian myth
2nd Kin of the stained blade
both are done really well and if you watch them in that order you will appreciate the 1st one more after watching the 2nd one. the 2nd is the better one throwing in multiple animation styles to vary between flash back and present. its beautiful
If you didn't know, sword guys name is genji and bow guys name is hanzo
I actually just found your channel today and I have been bingeing your videos! Thanks for sharing your insight!
Blizzard, in my opinion, produces arguably the best short/intro cinematics. I would love to see you react to a world of warcraft intro cinematics (perhaps wrath of the lich king) or the overwatch 2 announcement trailer, leaning a bit more to the latter!
I subbed and looking forward to future content
Thank you for watching! I've only just started the channel so thank you for being here at the start, means a lot. KZ
I don't think anyones mentioned it but the story also effected the map itself. The broken lantern and railings are there in the map, hanzo's arrows are still lodged in the wood and tatami mats.
That's amazing detail.
Nice react mate!
Thank you for watching! I hope you enjoyed it and if you're into filmmaking, learnt something too. ✌🏻
Oh, you're the first person to comment too which means, you're a top 🍌 in my books.
You need to do honor and glory. Easily on par with this one. Imo its even better 😁

About every overwatch cinematics, really!

"Did the story work?" ... oh well, did it now?
For me, as a younger brother of two, it always makes the waters work ... and this cinematic helped me to become closer and more understanding to my older brother ... it is one of a kind.
I miss Hanamura as a map. I know we have Hanaoka now, but its just not the same 😩

One of my favorites as a cinematic, but definitely one of the maps I hate the most 🤣 I have always loved Blizz's cinematic's they never disappoint in that department at least.

Would love to see some World of Warcraft Trailers, especially Wrath of the Lich King and Catacalysm!
Please do the dva one, basically all the overwatch ones!
I'll certainly do my best and I hope you enjoy them. KZ
Little extra tidbit to the overall story. The voice of the narrator is actually the father of Hanzo and Genji, the former leader of the Shamada crime family.
Oh... loving that little bit of lore there, thank you fella! KZ
Probably something blizzard is best at. Cinematics. Incredible.
this cinematic gives me chilss always (im a genji main)
This was such a treat to watch, I loved it! KZ
KZ
I also recommend watching Valorant cinematics, I love the Game On one!
I've heard this, I must check them out. Expect one sooner rather than later. Hope you enjoyed the breakdown. KZ
I wish Blizzard made actual movies...
Genji's not dead, he's a cyborg xD he almost died but got saved.
