  • These days Carhartt has found themselves light years away from their blue color beginnings. Adopted by an entirely new generation, Carhartt is a front runner in the work wear as streetwear trend for a reason.
It's sturdy, its practical, it's stylish, but would you be suprised if I told you that this brand is over 100 years old? Which means I gotta ask the question, forget about Stussy or Supreme, is Carhartt the oldest streetwear brand?
Lets find out. I'm Nate the Great from Take flight 214.com and this is the History of Carhartt.

I find it hilarious when I see fashion influencers vlog about when workwear becomes “the new trend” and then suddenly “this is the year the workwear trend dies”. Hahaha! I’m from Cali and all workwear, whether Carhartt, Dickies, Ben Davis…it’s BEEN a part of our style since the late 80s! We’ve been rockin this before these “gatekeeping” influencers were even born!

I keep hearing about the 90s are back in fashion , that carhartt is fashionable and combat trousers are back ( M65 ) . As a devoted hip hop music lover, it never went out of fashion because it was never about fashion . Like timberlands were hiking boots and then hip hop made it fashion.

@@user-xl6pn6xy9r SAME! Speaking from the west coast, workwear has always been a nonstop staple. And instead of Timbs, it’s Chucks lol

Carthartt is cool as heck! It has that “manly masculine aesthetic” of a hard working man. The jackets ooze “rough and tumble” ruggedness.

I cant honestly give a take on Carhartt as a streetwear brand cuz i aint ever worn it in te street like that, but i know as far as work clothes go…theres not another brand of work jackets or FR work pants thats fuckin with em as far as durabiity, wearability and comfortability goes, from my personal experience at least. My first Carhartt jacket that i got in either 04’ or 05’ as a 15yo that put it thru hell is STILL in good condition with no rips or tears and only one small hole from a blunt wen i ducked out one day without passing it lol. Zipper still works and everything and is now being worn by my son. 20 YEARS LÀTER!

P.S. Their FR long sleeve shirts fuckin suck though lol. Bought 2 of em a couple years ago at the start of winter. Not a nare mf one made it to Spring without the cuffs stitching coming apart and getting holes all in em just from the washer/dryer😒

In days of social media, anything has the potential to be widely adopted. Work wear, street wear, bathroom wear, or whatever. Maybe who you are is more important than what you wear.

Love Carhart WIP, great clothes, great ethos and if you look after them they let for years. No no I had a a Carhart Wip coat that lasted me from 1994 to 2007 and I got 6 -7 year old WIP T shirts that still look brand new. From buying OG and WIP, WIP has much better materials, organic and better fitting plus more comfortable than the OG T shirts and coats. I have both clothes and always feel WIP is much more better quality than OG. OG is amazing clothes and long lasting but WIP is like Carhart with that extra special something 👍😀

Lol what do y’all even know about real work. Streetwear didn’t adopt shit. Work wear will always be around for real working class men. Not TH-cam kids.
