“Despairing of human relationships (people were so difficult), she often went into her garden and got from her flowers a peace which men and women never gave her.”
I came here from the book: The phone booth at the edge of the world - Laura Imai Messina (if anyone is interested, it’s a great book so beautifully written)
For Lucy had her work cut out for her. The doors would be taken off their hinges. Rumplemayer's men were coming and though Clarissa Dalloway, "What a day." as if issued to children on a beach.
This song makes me relive my most painful memories. It reminds me that I am still in pain, but also reassures me that pain is okay - even necessary. It teaches me that a life without pain is a life unlived, and that the greatest skill one can cultivate is to become intimate with one’s pain. An absolute masterpiece.
“Doesn’t one always think of the past, in a garden with men and women lying under the trees? Aren’t they one’s past, all that remains of it, those men and women, those ghosts lying under the trees, … one’s happiness, one’s reality?” - Virginia Woolf, Mrs. Dalloway
Truly one of the most beautiful classical music pieces I've heard yet. It was first aired on a classical music station I support in San Francisco. I can listen to this piece every day, endlessly.
"What is this terror? What is this ecstasy? He thought to himself. What is it that fills me with extraordinary excitement? It is Clarissa, he said. For there she was."
Such music is a perfect gift of Jehovah for us: "Every good gift and every perfect present is from above, for it comes down from the Father of the [celestial] lights, and with him there is not a variation of the turning of the shadow" (James 1:17).
This piece is proof that odd time signatures aren’t a gimmick or make everything hard to follow. Despite this piece being in 7/8, you hardly notice any rhythmic wonkery, and are instead enamored at its beauty.
“She had the perpetual sense, as she watched the taxi cabs, of being out, out, far out to sea and alone; she always had the feeling that it was very, very, dangerous to live even one day.”
Max Richter is a great composer .. Contemporary Classic Music that is beautiful and Filmmusic that moves .... (not like the Zimmer Class) ,,, (even though I like them :) ) Pieces like this and "On the nature of daylight" are divine ... Thank you ...
I was in maccies last night peeing and it was the most zen pee I’ve ever had. Had to Shazam the song, and now whenever I go to the toilet I’m going to play this song because it made it such an enjoyable experience. 10/10 song to pee to, would recommend to a friend
The music and dance dovetails very well. I would've liked to see the dancers begin on the page, then reflected onto the piano and instruments and finally onto the walls. Lovely nonetheless.

"What a lark! What a plunge!" :)

Reading Mrs Dalloway and listening to this divine music is the heaven I have in mind

If you walk through a rose garden and stroke the petals of the roses, I imagine this is what it would sound like.🌹🌹
Glass, Richter, Arnalds, Roach.
Minimalism:
Simple, essential, basic, full, fluid, fresh, frank, self and you.
You're an exceptional artist mr. Richter
trying to go to bed, still listening to Max Richter.

What a great tribute to the Woolf.

Listening on a cold winter's day...a soul warming day.

Richter uses 7/8 and 9/8 in his projects much. This prob comes from his interest in folk music
when I listen to it , I see Virginia Woolf, how do you do that Max Richter ? it makes me emotional, thank you so much
Could find a better time to find this moment to hear such music. Thank you so very Max.
“She had the perpetual sense, as she watched the taxi cabs, of being out, out, far out to sea and alone; she always had the feeling that it was very, very, dangerous to live even one day.”

"The beauty of this piece lies in its simplicity.....how the piano sets the mood and the other instruments join the soiree." - wp♫
