- Today is winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. So I got together with my lovely band and director krassasig to create this tribute to brighter days ahead.

Every single one of you here listening to Olafurs music. I love you so much. I’ve been searching for you all for so long. No one in my life cares to hear this music. I don’t understand it. Listening to Olafur is like a great cleansing. It impacts me in a way I’ll never be able to describe well enough. I love you all. You are a very special type of human. A rare kind. And you deserve love and happiness. My favorite Olafur song is “happiness does not wait” I want it played when I die. If you are a newer fan you should listen to it.

Hello Mamma. I'm glad to see we have the same favorite song. I have tickets for one of his show at the end of May '22 and I know it will be a musical feast. This song leaded me to others from Olafur alone and also with his collaboration with Nils Fram. Just love that kind of music... I love you too!

Loneliness, calmness, sadness, happiness.
I went to his concert in Brooklyn last month and he talked about how he released “some kind of peace” despite not being able to perform it anywhere in front of an audience because of the pandemic. This was just his second concert in almost three years and he said “The way we get to know our music is by playing it for you.” I’m so glad I got to be a part of that.
This album reminds me that I'm still alive and that I can still feel something
Somehow, his music always tends to do that for me as well since 2013.
I've been listening to him for years now; his music has had a huge impact on me of seeing the world so different .
I've been in such a dark place lately, my whole life and dreams of which I was building with the person I loved had been shattered to absolute pieces, after everything came to a halt and we separated, and eventually I plunged into depression. Right now I'm going through such a stressful time with finals at medical school, and between therapy and antidepressants, friends and family support, and the best of my abilities, I'm trying to get myself together through this. It isn't easy, and I've learnt to never judge people for what they're going through and to be kinder with everyone on their own journeys. I'm trying my absolute best to grasp any form of light through this maze that I'm in, I'm trying to see a different reality or to get excited about different sorts of things on my own, however, it really is hard. This piece has been such a solace for me during these times and I'm absolutely grateful for such a delicacy. I can't and won't be able to control anything other than myself. This is a humbling lesson that life gave me as of late.

I cried listening to this music, it exactly paints this undescribable beauty of Iceland. I called it home for the last 4 years, moved out in june. The longer i am away the more it rips my heart apart. I left the biggest part of me behind...

@@guiraus the economy in Iceland is 70% tourism and with Covid19 it came to a total stop. Many people lost their jobs including my girlfriend. We decided to move out to be closer to our families again but being close to them now just made me realise how much my heart and soul got attached to this small island in the middle of the northern atlantic. Icelands landscape and unique location is so soothing and realising that you are on a volcanic island wiht over 30 active volcanos makes you feel soooo alive and appreciative of life and nature itself. It´s simply breathtaking...
I cry every time I listen to it too. It reaches somewhere deep inside. It reminds me that we are not alone in these feelings. Such bitter sweet beauty

I just played this to my 6 year old son. So calming, centering, uplifting and beautiful. It was also an opportunity to explain winter solstice and the characteristic of being north of 60 on the shortest day, longest night of the year. Brings me back to my hometown in the Northwest Territories.

I’ve been listening to him for years now and his music has helped me through so much. I often feel angry that no one in my life knows who he is. I have sent them his music and everything and it just doesn’t move them like it moves me. I’ll know I’ve found my soulmate the day I meet someone in real life who is as passionate about his music as I am. Most underrated artist in our time in my opinion.
Maybe if the world listened more to his music the world would chill Out.

It must've been a super short day. We were in Iceland in January and we had maybe 4-5 hours of daylight. It was really cool to watch the Sun rise and set in the middle of nowhere.

In 2017, I was going through difficult times in many indescribable ways, my heart was so broken that wake up every morning was really painful, and then, like a healing bless from heaven, I discovered the music of Ólafur. Their musical notes were able to trigger a broad feelings range into my heart in such a way that, over time it was as if with each tone and to the rhythm of their compositions my soul was healed. Thanks Ólafur for help me when I needed!

cette musique te fait oublier l'absurdité du monde, toute la haine, tous les clivages, pour l'avoir vu en concert, c'est une grâce sans commune mesure, c'est un instant suspendu dans le temps jusqu'aux dernières minutes qui ne sont véritablement que du silence, il faut le vivre, allez l'écouter, les écouter, car notamment les violonistes sont habités par leur art, par l'amour de la musique

s u b l i m e being a previous director/DOP, I Love how the dolly track encircles the set and performers as well - simple, soft lighting, etc. Even the operator shadow is wonderful... Such a delicate composition - nice detail, light and ephemerallllllllll the JFDR bit is exquisite
