I am 12 years old but I race probably every weekend and I have been for 2 and a half years. when I started out my dad bought me a $200 traxxas slash and then we went to a track that was about 20 minutes away. Now I am sponsored by a company called Tekno and I have won very big races against very skilled drivers, all I can say is thank you dad because this past two years have been the best of my life
29 years old I was focused on ridding my dirt bike heavy for about 4 years. I bought my first rc car almost 7 months ago and I’ve been hooked I have 3 upgraded 2wd slashs and a few drift cars I sold my dirt bike in fully 100 putting my all in to rc. I love it
Great documentation which shows the up- and downsides of this hobby. 👍🏻 P.S. addicted people are everywhere some are work addicted, some sport addicted and it seems some are rc addicted. You need to find the balance.
47 here. been in this hobby for 3 decades. you can't find a better hobby. I recognize many faces in this doc. Good people. Current home track Thunder Road(Moline). Cannot recommend this hobby more. The skills, mechanical knowledge, performance under pressure, even social skills that it promotes says it all. All that and you don't have to risk your life riding in it. Plus a person that's comfortable at rc tracks can travel anywhere in this country and find the same group of guys at every one of them, might not be the same names, but its the same people. Its a highlight when I travel for work. Luckily I'm able to take my rides.
30 years old, and i have about 6-8 thousand in the sport. I can not imagine this hobby taking precedence over my family. If it got to the point where my wife was going to leave me, or my kids were suffering, I would rid myself of the distraction and not be so selfish and absorbed. I was excited to watch this documentary, which was extremely well put together and well done, but I got a bit depressed / disgusted with the type of people who are the "best" and have chosen to shed personal relationships to spend 20+ hours a day perusing a hobby, and instead of being remorseful about it, they are actually proud of it.

The idea is have a balanced live. Time for family and kids, time for work, and time for what you like to do the most.
My wife is the race team book keeper. If she says that it isn't in the budget, then its time to listen! It keeps her involved and hopefully it'll keep her from leaving one day...
Yep, it is an addiction. But there are extremes to it for sure. Guys that go from work to the track then home, rinse repeat, are different than the guys like myself who casually race when they can. It's all about it being a hobby and making friends.
hate when people say TOY Rc Cars, They are Rc MODEL Racing Cars, they are are literally scaled down cars. but at the say time I dont blame them because not many are into this until they really try them, but again i understand them because they can be really really expensive to get and run.
ripmax333 i wouldn't be offended or irked,as i'm sure they are not comparing a child's toy to a thousand dollars racing kit , to me anyway ,whatever you do to have fun is a toy .

The video talks about RC as a hobby no matter how much expensive your car is.
But that’s what they are. They are toys. That’s not an insult, it’s just what they are. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy mine (I’m a couple generations behind now in buggy technology) but it’s still just a toy. It’s not a $100k race car where you can win serious money.
Cool People! 25 Years ago i was raced a Tamiya Top Force. Last week i bought me a new 1/8 Buggy. And it is the same fun as before! Love all the RC Stuff.
thats one big doku about the RC scene! good kamera- nice researche- cool edit! thanks for showing this honest approche on the theme! this is some existencial stuff going on here. big-biglove!
Well, I have 6 or 7 of them, including a boat. Been many years in the hobbyb so I know a thing or two. At the end of the day we play with them, so yes they´re toys LOL. Only if you're a competitive professional racer and you do this for a living you´re allowed to say otherwise. So, don't take things so seriously, relax and enjoy your toys!
Im very much a racer an in the northeast part for now racing just seems to be about them bigg weekend racing an tracks here close cause of it so with tha family an things going on all summer i hit races an still do things with the family has to be sum balance cause im racing all year long weather its indoor electric offroad carpet are traveling to a offroad dirt race an it all cost $$$$to be the boss so when i do race i enjoy it either way an the turnout of me racing doesn't matter cause its the fun of it all
