  • Landbased squid fishing in the winter can be a challenging but rewarding experience. Squid tend to move closer to the shore during the colder months, making them more accessible to land-based anglers.
    Here are some tips for land-based squid fishing in the winter:
    Look for areas with structure: Squid tend to congregate around structures like rocks, jetties, and seaweed beds. Look for areas with these features and focus your fishing efforts there.
    Use a bright light: Squid are attracted to light, so using a bright light to illuminate the water can help attract them to your fishing area. Many anglers use a submersible fishing light or a powerful flashlight.
    Use the right gear: Squid are usually caught using specialized squid jigs or lures, which are designed to mimic the appearance and movement of small fish or shrimp. A light spinning or baitcasting rod and reel combo is also recommended.
    Pay attention to tides and currents: Squid tend to feed more actively during the outgoing tide, so try to time your fishing around this period. You may also need to adjust your fishing strategy based on the strength and direction of the current.
    Be patient: Squid fishing can require patience, so be prepared to spend some time waiting for a bite. If you're not getting any bites, try adjusting your technique or moving to a different area.
    Remember to check local regulations and obtain any necessary licenses before fishing. Stay warm and stay safe while fishing in the winter, and good luck!

    i don't measure squid normally.. even the big ones but we did in this case.. , i think we did it wrong so its only a 46cm if you measure Hood Only .. Zac was in a comp where they measured the head as well so that's where we got it from ..

    Man what a monster squid the young fella caught, I was nervous for him as well. The new camera looks great too. I'm gonna have to try a bit of squid fishing on the pier I think.

    Boys got any good tips. Getting into squidding but can't seem to get anymore than 1 or two at a time. Question is how often do you flick the rod, do you reel while flicking the rod? Do you reel at all to begin with? Cheers appreciate it, got about 4 jigs...3s and 2.5s different colours aswell

    • @ReedysRigs
      @ReedysRigs  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the squid will take the jig as it sinks flicking the rod just brings it off the bottom again , just try let it sink more .. close to the bottom ..
