Great video. I’m fixing to do this job on my ‘06 X5 E53 3.0i. Your video has given me lots of notes to write down. Great order of steps. Plus a list of parts to replace while the lower sun frame is out. Best video I found on this job. Other videos of X5 are newer models with the same problem! If only BMW ran their engines cooler and not used recycled plastics for parts, BMW would be less oil leak and cooling hose break free.
Im doing a E53 now on the ground with jacks and engine support bracket this was by far the best video iv seen on youtube. Thanks for sharing it i dont think people realize its not just doing the job you also have to keep the camera on you while you work. I Subscribed!!!!! Great work.....
Great job Sergei, big job as some sump gasket are easy to change, no wonder the beemer guys leave the oil leaking !, thank you Sir................from NZ
Brilliant video. Was considering to work on the ground but I change my mind. I have a quick question. I just changed my front suspension such as lower arms, drop link, lower ball joints BUT NOT the tie rods. I then took it for a road test and my wheel alighment is completely out. Any suggestions why its out? My conclusion is that previously, wheel alighment was carried out with worn suspension parts. Tomorrow I will fit new tie rods and carry out a full wheel alignment myself. Update tomorrow guys.
Hello, i have an e93 with the M57 diesel engine, probably soon i have to do this job, for now i don’t have a serious leak, but soon i’ll change the gasket, can you tell me how much time would this take? Btw i’ll let my mechanic do the job (It’s only rwd so no front diff)
Theres a repair hsck for this L6 engine; first cutting the new gasket in two specific places to allow you to insert after removing the old gasket without having to drop the subframe amd applying a few dabs of ultra black sealant at the cut locations to seal the gasket. Would love to see you show is that version of the repair. Obviously at our own risk, since its not the bmw standard procedure
damn it, I bought the sump gasket along with the oil filter thinking I would do both jobs at once single-handedly haha 😁 Not going to happen...should have watched this before
Sergey, I live in the Bay Area and have a X5 E70 (2013) with this issue. If you are available can you send me your contact info, I'd like to see if you can fix it. Thank you!
Your video is OK, but the most important part you didn't show that how to take out the reinforcement sub frame plate because that's the pain to take it out.
That is an insane job for an oil pan gasket leak.

Same thing here. Question, when you used the support bar did you attach to both engine lift points or just the front like in this video?
Thankyou. I'm doing the rear main seal seal now, and realised I also need to do the oil pan gasket. Thanks for the video. (From Australia)

AWESOME!!
great video. Thanks
I got a metal gasket for the lower portion of the oil pan. Did you use an adhesive? Should I use a adhesive/sealant on a metal bmw gasket
Would this be the same process for a 1009 X3?
FANTASTIC
Hey.Can i replace the oil pan e53 without sub frame? Transmission is not installed, only motor lift helps me to get access to oil pan?
So does the front diff come off the car before dropping the pan?
You are very talented doing that and filming, thanks for doing this! Are you in California?!
Good job.

Where in San Francisco is your shop! I have the same problem on my X5!

What a great video, but I will never buy a BMW again. So many problems with these cars make them the Ultimate Stopping Machine
