    As a bmw tech I neglected mine as well and didn’t know it was leaking that bad I just kept topping it off .. recently did the oil change and I had 3.5 quarts 😂😅I felt like a customer I was so concerned saw some flakes in the oil but it was fine after the oil change engine still sounds strong . Will be taking care of this today .i find your videos to be more helpful then those really old repair instructions 🤣

    In your opinion why filter housing gasket fails every 6 months?

  • @dogger2186
    @dogger2186 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question? Really ned advice. We have 2 - 2007 X5 3.0si n52 engines. (97k & 102K) miles noticed that both had leaks starting on the Oil Filter Housing. Was able to swap both gaskets on the one without issue the 2nd the lower torx bolt the M8X28 (by the mickey Mouse ear hose mount) is frozen and I can get it removed. Unable to get enough leverage and worried about breaking he head off. The other Torx bolts came out with no issue so I cant change the gasket against the block? Any thoughts? Just break it and then try and remove it?

    • @Zeiten

      Option a) remove the fan you’ll have more room option b) get e10 wrench and point it to the top of radiator (slightly above it) put a pipe on it and break it lose

    Great video as usual ! How about ATS Chemical 505CRO for direct injection? It's an oil system flush- would it cause any issues with seals or gaskets. 2015 N20. Thank you!!

    • @Zeiten

      Inline 6 would be the best choice, no turbo = more reliability, so stick with 3.0si/3.0i or xdrive30i same engine

      @@Zeiten Can I assume petrol engines are better choice for stress free ownership or should I also consider diesel variants without Turbo. I drive very less ( about 10,000 kms in a year- majority is city drive and once or twice in a year a long distance vacation which should be like 3000 km trip- hot weather throughout the year in my place). Planning to use this car for next 6 years. Thank you

      There is no oil filter housing gasket on m62 engine since oil filter housing is separated. On n62 engine either although there is an alternator bracket gasket and it’s completely different job

    Just wanted ask which petrol X5 inline 6 to buy . 2005 E53 or a 2007 E70 . Which one is more reliable and less expensive to maintain. Are there more reliability issues with E70 than E53.

    • @Zeiten
      @Zeiten  ปีที่แล้ว

      E53 would be more reliable and cheaper to fix, simple example parts cost for water pump and thermostat on e70 n52 are around 600$ for e53 m54 it’s gonna be about 100$

      @@Zeiten here in Australia there are more 4.4 v8 . Saw one with history of service ( 2 ownership) . 138kms odo. Kind of tempted to buy. Are these an absolute no-no cars for reliability. Like long distance travel ( 700kms-800kms) drive in a day is the kind of drive I do occasionally( plus weekend grocery shopping drives- 15-20 kms). We have the glorious sun at very high temperatures . Are these 4.4 v8 an absolute nightmare.

    Easier to loose fit Vanos line to the housing while it is out of the car. Less fiddly than trying to install it after, then just tighten the banjo.
