Thank you Shaun for giving me the platform to share my story, in the hope of helping other victims, survivors speak out and begin their healing journey and fight for justice. Their is no safeguarding deterrent and prevention set in place for victims of incest because our UK law says a child is complicit in this heinous crime. I want to set up a petition to change this. I know I cant save all children from incest sadly because there will always be parents who choose to do evil to a child in the world. I wish I could!

I have had the same experience of police covering up a rape crime on me. I've been suffering now for around 30 years. The crime was covered up by the Met police with the MOD police collaborating with them to make sure I never get justice. I have tried twice. The second time I got an admission from the met and an apology recently. Nothing from the MOD police. I still cant get conviction because of 'lack of evidence' I'm still waiting for compensation from the Met. I probably won't even get that. I have Complex PTSD and my life has been ruined. I don't know what else to do bare Murd**. Well done Carol. Love and respect to you. PEACE!

Anyone who has heard the phrase stop crying or I'll give you something else to cry about, as a northener feels her pain. My sister and I decided it had to stop in our family and it has but it has taken us to put our heels in and cause some trauma in the family to do it. I admire Carol's tenacity and believe God has sent her to help people.
This type of abuse happened so often in the area I lived in ,I knew of four families just in our street, that was going through sexual abuse, sadly ba k in the day the police did nothing whatsoever, even though people went to the police, I know of three girls that had children to their father, and it's only in past 10 years has anything been done, and that's because of dna testing.
I was bashed for little or no reason most of my childhood and i didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary until i got older because it seemed most of my friends parents did the same .
I have a two year old boy now and I'll NEVER lay a hand on him.

Such a sad and distressing life Carol has had to endure. The courage, strength and sheer determination she has displayed throughout her life where many would give up hope. My heart and love goes out to her, and so many others.

I didn't know any different Anni, your right, how many other children don't, and hang onto every word their dad tells them? Incest is rife like the grooming gangs but not enough is being done about it. I went on a mentoring course in an adult collage and the word incest had been banned from the search engine by the director of the collage, preventing any research on the subject. Why? I think she is up there with all of the other women and men in the world that are true survivors of evil men & women that commit these hideous crimes on the most vulnerable members of our societies, it must be very scary for young children trying to navigate in broken systems that blatantly allow these abuses to continue in society world wide. I have the utmost respect for the grown up women & the men that have the guts to speak about these crimes they have experienced, as they are awakening people in droves to what has been taking place world wide in the past & still continues today. Jesus, the anxiety I felt listening to Carol had me reaching for cuddles from my kitty and my pooch! Raised in 2 of Ireland's Industrial schools for 12 years left me numb to the world at large. How Carol is so 'together' beggars belief! I witnessed Saville in action as a porter in Chapel Allerton hospital in 1970 where I was training as a nurse. His mother was a patient and you could hear him always before he arrived in the ward. He was a vile creature.

Think this is my favorite video of yours yet Shaun....sounds to me like pure simple facts, the real and all-too common story of someone with legitimate reasons to be heard and recognised, yet shunned by those in her own community that were supposed to be out to protect her.

I recently met carol at a car show she was giving out pamphlets and sharing her story it was heartwarming as a 16 year old who was sexually assaulted and harassed and the police did nothing and I told her my story witch it happend in school and she hugged me and signed my book and told me to be strong she’s just like us we stand with you carol always!!! ❤️

Evil always seems to win, in my experience. Evil knows who to connect with and who will protect it. Evil knows exactly what to say, and to whom. If you try to fight back or explain, you always lose. All you can do is run as far as you can get, leaving everything and everyone you love behind, and pick up what pieces you can along the way to scratch out a life as far from evil as possible. Evil feeds on your pain, your misery, your sadness, and all that it has perpetrated upon you, because evil is a parasite of the negativity it creates.

Feel really guilty about Carol's treatment. I only live about 6-10 miles from where she lived/existed. What a lovely brave and honest woman she is.
Wish I could have helped her get away from her scumbag "dad". Is there any worse betrayal than a parent abusing their child?
How can we do more to protect people/children in this situation?
Maybe something akin to the bullying bench adopted by some schools, but obviously at a much higher, more sophisticated way.

Her Mum was my dinner lady at primary school, Upper Denby. To say I'm shocked is an understatement. Thanks for sharing your story carol and thanks Shaun for giving her the space to speak openly. I've reached out personally as a number of things Carol spoke of, I also endured.

Carol Higgens should speak to Ed Opperman, William Ramsey, and Jay Dyer on their shows. This is not isolated. If you haven't seen The Clown and the Candyman series on ID you should check it out, and even THAT is only scratching the surface of these organized rings protected and enabled by the authorities.

What a courageous lady, I remember when I was waiting outside my junior school in Leicester for my dad to pick me up, a grown ass fair ground worker approached me, offering to show me his caravan and free rides, he took my hand to guide me away, but I pulled back and said I could see my dad, so he scarpered! I bow my head. I'm so sorry, Carol been through hell. Police practically concealing the degenerate... 35 years... it is just disgusting. This "sorry" thing (with wet kiss) and the meeting with her father girlfriend - this was HARD to listen. She remained adamant and achieved her goal. The sentence would not restore her years, nor reverse the trauma, but she did not remain a victim. I can only say that she has a great spirit and is very brave. I hope Carol and her kids are much happier now and that they will do well in their lives. From today, when many more people have learned about her history, many of them will have her in their hearts. There are people Shaun spoke to, their stories, which remain in my memory, they changed my perception of certain things, opened my eyes and I thank them for it. Shaun's and Jen's interlocutors have a wonderful ability: by exposing darkness, they turn it into light. Thank you Shaun and Jen for this (and many others) podcast 💕

Hi shaun, I'd say it was a great podcast but it was horrific listening to Carol speak, no one should ever be subjected to that abuse its unthinkable. Sorry Carol had to endure a life of this torture its so unfair she seems a genuine funny happy person if we didn't now know what lied beneath..I'm so glad she has survived and now with her children she is making a life for herself she deserves happiness, was nice seeing her at the end smiling while detailing the guilty verdicts and seeing the monster go down. Carol you are one hell of a woman, dont ever let anyone tell you different, well done shaun for sharing this.

And airing it like that.. you then move on to say you have your own story but you will have to leave that for the book!! You taking the piss .. and for me to be embarrassed I would have to value your opinion.. we all have story’s of abuse and violence but this a ring of predators including the police … of course she should speak up it helps other people be strong
