Those last two lines in particular have so much added meaning once you realize that, because Oogway was there to watch over, guide, and nuture kung fu and the Valley of Peace for so many years, the sacred peach tree was in tern able to give Oogway the strength he needed to stop the threat of other wordly demons attacking his home when he was at his weakest. So in this context, Oogway was actually speaking from past experience. Granting the strength & support you need to overcome your own personal demons (which is shown in how Po was able to help Shifu find inner peace and grow past his prior struggles and hardships, the most crushing of which being Tai Lung). Ultimately, the universe has a way of giving back to the selfless and the kind-hearted if you give it a chance, and don't internalize all the pain that life constantly throws at you. Now it makes even more sense why Shifu is constantly angry with Po, who- from his perspective -stumbled in and obtained ultimate power through little to no effort.
It's also evident (if you look closely) that Master Shifu has taught Master Oogway patience in similar fashion to how Po is teaching Shifu to deal with his anger issues. Oogway, before answering Shifu's many questions, often looks frustrated, then remembers something that softens his expression, then says something mysterious instead of insulting him.

Honestly, when I was really/quite young, growing up, I watched the Kung Fu Panda movies and enjoyed them, as funny Kung fun movies. Couple years ago I went back and rewatched them… it was… a deeply enjoyable, beautiful, and somehow meaningful set of films. Each one had a pretty damn good message, with a lot more alluding to major back stories, histories, lore, and more in the world than I had ever caught on to. And when the second film came out? That film really set a tone of kinda… darkness, genuine darkness to the film series that I enjoyed a lot because it juxtaposed the goofy humor really well, and added some great depth. I will say, the main story lines of the three films themselves, taken at face value, are decent, but when you become aware of the backstory and lore, who and what the characters are, etc, it kinda becomes great.
If you seen the holiday Shifu actually said he abandoned his family when he was learning Kung Fu at the time because his family got in the way. Also fun fact do you know Shifu was originally going to be the Dragon Warrior back when he was young but actually became Sensei instead

This is probably a dumb suggestion you don’t have time for, but have you ever thought of going through Master Tigress’ backstory in addition to the backstories of the other members of the Furious Five? I wouldn’t even mind if you did both in one video.
... Wow. This is nice to see Shifu's backstory. And now I understand better why he felt "so much pain" when Po was chosen as the Dragon Warrior, and inner peace!
Just realized that the reason why Po was never "found" as the Dragon Warrior early on is because the only time he had a reason to go there was for the Day Oogway Chose AND because the time he food poisoned Shifu probably solidified that they would never order food from there again. So if Po was acting as the waiter that day rather than a chef, he could've made a delivery or two at the Jade Palace in his youth. Alas, it never came to be. That's also probably why the Five were so surprised by Po's cooking the first time they tasted it because they never got to taste it before as for the time they were first formed was the last time the Jade Palace ever ordered from the place for Shifu and, likely, his students. No accidents indeed. That allowed Po to only come when the world is in need and ready for him rather than way too early on and the Five were still in training. Meaning they're not yet the masters that Po would study and idolize and would one day help solidify his love for Kung Fu.
It really might... its another way for him to grow more. To lose his teacher, his mentor. But I really don't want that. But then again, I dont think there might be anymore Kung Fu Panda movies... sigh
I always thought Shifu was kinda a jerk for not liking Po or thinking he could actually be the Dragon Warrior... But after being reminded of his life story I can completely understand now why he was so Triggered when Po became the Dragon Warrior! 😂
I always loved Shifu and never had anything against him, I mean everyone's personalities and modalities heavily depend on their background especially with the family being raised in such a way

1:27 sounds like something i read in a autobiography of Jackie Chan. when he was still quite young, his father dropped him off at the School of Chinese Opera and just sort of left him there. i guess their training could be brutal to youngsters at that time. admittedly, for Jackie, it led to him becoming something of the powerhouse in ability that would become his trademark. but still... quite a rough thing for a youngster to deal with.
I think the peace came from recognizing that he couldn't stop Po's destiny --- and therefore, he couldn't take some responsibility for _any_ of his students' destinies, even the bad egg. Plus, it never hurts to see your mistakes dealt with, finally, after dreading them for so long.

Indeed, that's good story telling :0
The directors said kung fu panda would have 6 films...I feel like Shifu will die in one of the 3 movies left.
It really might... its another way for him to grow more. To lose his teacher, his mentor. But I really don't want that. But then again, I dont think there might be anymore Kung Fu Panda movies... sigh
Heard Mr. Ping's voice actor is dead
@@gamechanger8908 He is not. He was just in Turning Red.
Surprised Isaac didn't mention Shifu's ex-girlfriend Mei Ling
Where did you learn about her? How old was Shifu?
Katherin Keegan the series Shifu is probably 60 yeard old because Tai lung is about 40 and during the flashback Shifu looked about 20
@@katherinkeegan8601 In the Kung Fu Panda TV series season 3 ep 1 Shifu's Ex
@@s-link9400 Does he ever reunite with her?
@@katherinkeegan8601 yes he does

Shifu suffered from years of ptsd from battles and especially Tai lung. It was good to see him achieve inner peace
Just imagine that if shifu pushed tigress to far she would have probably ended up as Tai Lung not feeling like she was not good enough...
Like this because of Master master oogway.
Everyone gangsta until Shifu grabs the dumplings
Hey Icass, you ever watch the Hotel Transylvania films?
Those would make for fun Discovery videos to do for October.
I think so too.
I always thought Shifu was kinda a jerk for not liking Po or thinking he could actually be the Dragon Warrior...
But after being reminded of his life story I can completely understand now why he was so Triggered when Po became the Dragon Warrior! 😂
Can you do a theory video of Tigress's backstory and who her parents might've been?
Cheetah Pearl Tigress is my favourite Kung Fu Panda character.
Yes
I always loved Shifu and never had anything against him, I mean everyone's personalities and modalities heavily depend on their background especially with the family being raised in such a way
Shifu is Imperfect but that is what is so great about him he is abstract and always learn
Shifu is one of my most loved characters, still is.
ur like, rly good at this. i have kind of a new perspective of shifu
Jade palace: exists
Literally anyone: I wanna take that
Please do Po’s hearthbreaking backstory plz
Well we kinda already know about that
Hello Isaac, I wanted to suggest the origin stories for each of the guardians from rise of the guardians. Toothiana, E. aster bunnymund, Nicholas St north, Karen, and the rest. Very interested to hear what their beginning was like, and I know you can bring it proper justice.
Literally Shifu's dad went "stay here, I'll go get the milk"
Oogway bringing an Owl-Shaped Prison to fight Fenghuang gives me the same energy as Kurapika bringing a shovel to bury Uvogin with.
Shifu is a man with father issues and maybe some self hate and it makes it hard for him to be nice or bond with others.
Were those spirit orbs supposed to look like an atom. And can any find spiritual reference of electron proton and neutron
Isaac Carlson, this another display of hardwork, deep research and articulation. Thank you for another great work.
Do Discovery Videos on the Ice Age films.
And do The Full Story of Sid the Sloth.
Can't help but picture Master Shifu whenever watching a movie starring Dustin Hoffman.
Wouldn't construction of such a prison take years
Steve the Cat I I think the prison was built in a pre-existing cave system, which would cut down construction time considerably
If you enslave a team of animators it cuts down construction time notably
师荣不是一个好的父亲,不过当年没有抛弃师福的话,也不会有这么出色的功夫大师,因为师荣并不能给他一个更好的未来
I’d love to see a prequel film in the kunfu panda series going more in depth on Tailungs backstory before he cracked. Anyone else think that would be interesting?
1:27 sounds like something i read in a autobiography of Jackie Chan. when he was still quite young, his father dropped him off at the School of Chinese Opera and just sort of left him there. i guess their training could be brutal to youngsters at that time. admittedly, for Jackie, it led to him becoming something of the powerhouse in ability that would become his trademark. but still... quite a rough thing for a youngster to deal with.
First, finally a video explaining shifu
Imagine if Shifu betrayed Oogway...
Not happening.
Oogway will always be the better one of the two. Not because of his wisdom or fighting technique(s), but his quotes.
I'm LOVING these Kung Fu Panda video's
Shift was abandoned by her dad.
Ah yes, "Shift", the tritagonist of the critically acclaimed "Tai Chi Elephant" franchise.
That is the saddest backstory I've ever heard.
Shifu must of been a constantly tortured character that all it took was a panda to bring to peace with himself
I think the peace came from recognizing that he couldn't stop Po's destiny --- and therefore, he couldn't take some responsibility for _any_ of his students' destinies, even the bad egg. Plus, it never hurts to see your mistakes dealt with, finally, after dreading them for so long.
I love these Kung Fu Panda videos
Master ( Oogway ) was right ,in the face of danger machines may break but humans can think of other choices to protect themselves and thier loved ones also when a machine is turned-on it's may kill innocent lives but humans will recognize the difference between friends and foes
What kind of videos is this?! THIS IS SO AMAZING AND COOL MAN!!!♥️♥️♥️🔥🔥🔥
That is good. Hope you do more on Kung Fu Panda characters
Now that we know Shifu's drastic backstory, we need to hear about how Po saved him from himself and made him a little bit more fun and less serious lol
Awesome video pal
I couldn't ignore that puple eyeshadow due to his glasses
Thank you
Main Point of the Video
*Shifu had it rough!* 😂🤣
There is a reason why Shifu seems like he's 17 years old and 70 years old at the same time.
Shifu is my favourite character! :)
I really love your hair issac! It looks very nice!😊 I'm glad I found your channel! ❤❤❤😊
I know this is Shifu video but man... Ooguai is so amazing!
**Oogway**
Shifu's dad: "Hey son, if I give you this GOLDEN sword, can I have some food?"
Shifu: "Sure, father. Here you g...HEY! THIS IS A WOODEN SWORD!!!"
Shifu's dad: "NO BACKCIES, SON!!"
Shifu: :,("
Really need one on Tigress, she's my favorite along with Po.
For tigress backstory in on Kung Fu panda Secrets of the furious 5 (i think) u can watch it here kisscartoon.com
That film shows the backstories on each
Furious 5
Yooo, this is brilliant I agree with you this made me cry honestly good work Isaac love you
I am surprised that ppl still make vids about Kung Fu Panda
Its one of the best animated franchises, with 3 more movies possibly coming, what do you expect
@@vld7759 What new videos are you talking about?
Dustin Hoffman himself would LOVE this analysis of his character.
Shifu = Master
Shifu's father naming sense, Lol
Yes than you for doing this what’s so video I’ve asked for this ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💗👍
9:04 made me realize that the Papa Roach song _Scars_would be a good fit for Shifu.
Man this Chu-chieh-liang’s life has been tough first he was abandoned by his father then he makes a mistake in training an orphaned snow leopard making him power hungry, but eventually he found peace with a panda
I can see that even you are a big Kung fu panda fan! You even read the comic books! I also read that comic book about balance. :)
His past was hard but I'm happy he eventually found peace and happines
He’s one of the best Kung fu panda characters ever
I have not seen this movie in a long time I need to watch it again
Family business back in swing on the road so far
Do a theory focused on Tai Lung
Mmmm yes thank you TH-cam algorithm, for blessing me with Kung fu panda lore
