Maple Syrup Season | That's A Wrap

2024 Maple Syrup Season is in the books. Another short season, but it sure was nice to have a bit less snow to plow through. All of the food, supplies and equipment are taken out of the sugar shack to be stored away during the off season or cleaned. One of the final steps is to take all of the buckets and taps off the trees and clean/sterilize them. Because the sap has a tiny amount of sugar in it, everything needs a good cleaning or it will start to get moldy after a few days.

I don't understand. Why did you discard that sap? It was clear. You didn't taste it for fouling. Why? It would be interesting to know.

Thanks for watching. When this video was filmed we had already collected the last batch of syrup and boiled it down. The evaporator had been removed from the sugar shack for cleaning. We left the last 10 buckets on the tree so we could do a wrap up video.
