There is no such thing as too long of a video from Aaron & Laura! I loved every moment of it. Thank you both and as always, a big shout out to Paul & Bethany for the amazing work they do
In regards to the pond and dream stream, a couple of things, 1. Do not install that 2nd ion gen. That amount of copper being released is not recommended. One on 10 is fine. Not two on 10. 2. Do not feed the fish again til the algae is gone. It'll make them eat the algae faster. Also, watch the amount you feed them because their waste is part of the balance. 3. Net out what you can daily until it is under control. 4. Pond plants. More pond plants. 5. Go ahead with the Dream stream. The larger the body of water is, the easier it is to control the balance. The smaller, the more difficult. Adding the stream will increase the total volume of water. 6. You need more flow and water movement. The waterfall is supposed to oxygenate the water, but if it's not strong enough, it does not turn up the water enough when it falls into the pond. Your pump should be variable. Try turning it up to the higher setting. Plus, the Dream Stream will be adding another waterfall into the pond, so that'll help. 7. Contact Brian or Ed directly. They can confirm all this for you. I'm sure Chris is a nice fellow. But his idea of adding a second ion gen shows his lack of experience and knowledge. Hang in there. Don't get discouraged. Trust me. It'll all be worth it once the pond finds its stride. Thanks for the long tour. Everything looks gorgeous. ❤
Boy is it ever nice of you to offer advice…….sure beats wondering if things will ever straighten out and not having definitive answers. 30+ years as a Mastergardener but 0 years of large pond experience so no, we don’t have all the answers! Knowledgeable advice is always welcomed!
I agree with the concepts that the fish are more than likely being overfed and also, just like an aquarium, the more water the better as far as balance
I love seeing the cozy coop and tricycle in the background of the tour. IMO, they add such a sweetness! You can imagine the children riding, playing, and bringing laughter. A precious family, what more would one want in life?
Just wanted to say thank you and good job to all of the Garden Answer Staff, the contractors, and everybody that helps out! I feel like we're always showing love to Laura & Family but so many people made this dream happen :)
You 2 crack me up! Caressing the artichokes while “convincing “ Aaron how wonderful they are and letting all of us mourn the loss of the beautiful branch of the climbing rose.
We had to say goodbye to our beloved dog Ranger last night. He was 15. It’s obviously been a really rough morning and I needed a break from all the sadness. Garden Answer to the rescue and a long video at that. It may seem like a small thing but thank you for being such a positive experience. I’ve followed you for years and this video is just the hug I needed.
I love the artichokes. The shape and structure of the foliage and the fact that it is producing is so awesome. How many people ever accomplish that. You just don’t see artichokes growing like that. What is the Ursula type structure/bush at 51.20 (approx.)?
Who would not love to have their house close to the Garden Answer property, bonus!! Don't be discouraged about the pond. It is a good learning experience for everyone involved and watching it progress. It will get there and you will be able to look back on it and remember how far it has come like all of your other successful projects.
Russell wants his talent acknowledged in this video. After all, from his perspective, it’s not all about the garden. 🤣😂🤣 I thoroughly enjoyed Russell and the garden too.
Do they have a trust fund set up for Russell? He is a main character after all. And to those of you without a funny bone, I'm kidding. Have a great day!
Nepeta = catmint = that is why Russell is all beside himself! Online it says catmint can trigger strange behaviors, as we see with the adorable Russell. So cute!
Yes we had a cat that went crazy on it. If we were having drinks in the evening we would give her a twig of it. It was her drug of choice. I have planted it over her burial site. It is doing very well.
Watching your videos is how I start my mornings. Serene and inspirational way to start every single day. I know it's a lot to upkeep but holy smokes your gardens are absolutely beautiful. So much inspiration and ideas that I've been able to incorporate bits and pieces into my own yard. ♥
Don’t ask me if this video made me go buy a couple plants for two specific containers flanking my driveway…don’t do it! 😂😂 of course I did!! It’s my first full season of gardening and I’m absolutely loving anything involving plants. I’m hooked and thanks to you guys I’ve learned so much and have already had so much success. Great tour you two, much love from Tennessee!
Be careful! It made me want a cat, and one showed up! Two years ago. My sweet girl. Then her brother showed up too. We saw another sibling but he didn’t stick around. Then she got pregnant before we could get her in to spay, so now I have three inside too. I get followed around no matter where I am 🤣 I love it!
Russell truly adores Laura ❣️ you can see it especially in her sit down videos. He climbs up by whatever means available and just stares at her lovingly while waiting for his pets ✨❣️✨
It’s only Laura’s video that I’m willing to watch even if it’s more than an hour long. It’s so satisfying and calming while she’s showing their full garden 😊
Watching Laura for 30 mins if fine, but 90 minutes is a treat, and when it's a garden tour.. I couldn't have asked for a better video today. I loved it ❤❤❤ At min 38:00 was that a dog or a fox😳
I really really enjoyed these last 2 garden tour videos. Hearing Laura and Aaron discuss possible plantings and plans is enjoyable. It gives insight to how ideas come about. Then I think of possible ideas for our garden. I really enjoy seeing everything grow. Also gives insight to ideas in my garden.
Suggestion for the steep slope behind the red barn: maybe you can find a native wildflower mix that does well in dry shade. Wouldn't need to maintain it but the wildlife would appreciate it.
Here is what I love about your videos. It’s going to be an hour but it 0-60 all the way through. I try to watch so many videos that the whole first half is the person telling you what they are going to show you , tell you, teach you-then they finally get on with it. Not our Laura. Very briefly - in about three sentences , she says this is todays video and then away we go and you darned well better keep up with her and it’s usually jam packed with ‘pretty’ and informational. Love it. I have never had one boring moment. So glad to see that wonderful hollyhock again. Please please please show it when it’s in bloom. It’s the most beautiful flower.
I totally agree. I find that on other channels I skip ahead to the actual planting or tour. Sometimes I need to skip ahead quite a bit. We don't need an extensive run down on what they are going to do before they do it. Loved this long video Laura & Aaron! 🌿🏵🌿 🐞
I love seeing/hearing Aaron participate more in the videos. Hearing his thoughts and ideas is always welcome!! And…. That is why the two of you make a great team ! 😊
Aaron, I loved the close-ups, right to the flowers and foliage you did at the beginning of the tour when Laura asked you to. That's one amazing camera. Please do that again during the June tour 😊
🌿💗🤣 I agree. I think they are just lovely and am personally happy to see in real life, a beautiful form/motif that has been replicated in stone for so many centuries (i.e., artichoke finials and statuary). Love them!!!! 💗🌿

I am amazed at how you the names of all these beauties just roll off your tongue. Today I could see how much a mom you are to even all these beauties. How adoring you are of them. Thank you so much for sharing your world with all of us.
The huge amount of growth on the evergreens is absolutely wonderful! And seventy more trees coming this week has me very excited to see them filling up your property. In the meantime, I'm here cheering on Aaron's single Bubblegum Petunia. It is going to wow all of us!
I am surprised that there even is a dispute over this. Why don’t they just harvest and eat them? It’s a crop, a vegetable probably. anyway it’s food, so eat it and problem solved 😉
We had a pond SO FULL OF THIS STUFF ( 3 ponds, actually ) so I made up Barley Straw flakes (2 ea) placed in fine mesh onion bags and let them float around gathering the string alage. Within 3 weeks, I removed them and crystal clear ! Keep a few made up in case you see it coming back. Teather them to where you can get to. MUST USE BARLEY STRAW ONLY. They do sell a barley conditioner you can pour into the main filter also. Does not hurt fish. I WAS AMAZED at how quickly it cleared.
I love, love, love watching Laura, Aaron and family in and around the garden. You all have done such a tremendous job. I always have a note pad handy for the plants I want to research for my growing zone of 5b. This morning I wrote down verbascum, hardy geraniums, and lamium! Back to the nursery I go! I also want to thank all the behind the scenes people! It takes a village!
Russell was reacting to the Nepeta. It's like a special treat for cats to smell, roll in & nibble. My cat has the same reaction and also goes crazy over the scent of peppermint!😂 Beautiful tour, as always.😊
Oh Laura I needed this like I need air. You have no idea how much we love your gardens and how comforting they are in these times. You are an answer from God. Thank you and your whole family for supporting and encouraging you. Thank you thank you thank you.❤❤❤
Same. I am continually praying for God’s protection over Aaron and Laura and all the infrastructure that allows them to be a safe space for us to escape.
Your fruit trees get a season of rest and strengthening. Next year should be amazing! Love your grateful attitude. Flexibility and resilience are priceless character traits. Thanks for your example to us all.
Lovvvvve the artichokes! They look so perfectly in keeping with the botanical aesthetic. It makes the Hartley look like a dream estate garden sketch! All great garden structures have some interesting plantings like that; and artichokes are such a classic and ancient symbol of garden hope and bounty and prosperity. The Hartley needs drama and substance or it could quickly dink out and go, “golf course” look. I also applaud keeping the banking, potted evergreens - those and the artichokes or something equally substantial - it makes your greenhouse look like it wasn’t just plunked down there. It’s so incredibly beautiful and watching it evolving is so inspirational!
I do LOVE the artichokes there. They bring dramatic structure to the Hartley. The symbolism of the artichoke has such historical significance ❤ From outside or inside looking out, they're gorgeous!
Russell is reacting to the cats pajamas. It is a mint and that is why they call it cat mint. They adore it and it makes them super friskey ! my cat loves it when I bring some inside for her. She rolls all over it and even eats the leaves.
Thank you SOOO MUCH for sharing your beautiful property and home with this channel. There just are no words to adequately explain the botanical therapy it gives to me!!! The scope of your work is enormous, and so very educational as well. The few plants I have ( due to harsh growing conditions at my home) are all plants you showcased. Also, I purchased the garden hose, the green stalk, some tools, etc. and some other things you recommended , and all of those purchases have served me well. I am a true believer in the wealth of knowledge you share on Garden Answer 🥰
OMG that huge peony!!! Star of the show! And thank you Aaron for getting a close up of the blooms! I live for the bloom close ups during garden tours ❤
What a gift Laura has the eye for design! Here I sit with a notebook and pen about to jot down all the plants I need for my small garden All the 4 season interest, Wine- Ninebark, Nepeta, hydrangeas, roses! Lord a girl can dream😊
I literally laughed out loud when the message came up that you took a moment to mourn over the broken rose. 😂 I do want to also say sorry for your loss. 😢
I ENJOYED WATCHING ON MY 75” TV screen. The quality was super crispy clear. If there was a button on TH-cam that let me pay to not watch ads for a specific video you bet I would have paid. You guys are such a BLESSING. Thank you💚.
You’ve probably considered this, but what about a shade canopy, for a short term solution while working to eradicate the string algae. Like a shade sail to help with the algae( not permanent structure). I have 2 small garden ponds and an acre pond. In the smaller ponds the water lilies definitely help with the sun. In the larger pond , it’s almost 45 yrs old, all the trees around help to stop algae growth. Love your channel, very inspirational, thank you.
If we all could have a giant farm house with beautiful gardens ! A flower shed and gorgeous Hartley full of plants and flowers! So very wonderful for this garden tour! As we all enjoy hearing Laura talk about plant flowers and bushes and trees!!! Now Aaron talks too! As years go on more areas and videos are getting amazing! As mostly every thing they made and designed! Love play area for Benjamin and Samatha!!! 👸🤴🏻Just can not wait till Barn and animals come !!! 🐴🐴
It looks like the back of those new homes are so close to fence. Do they have small back yard? Yes, time for more big evergreens! My Tiger Eye Sumac does show up here and there, but nothing like yours. Wow, I'd have to get rid of it too! Love, the garden tours, all is looking great!
🌿💗 I've never owned nor maintained a pond, but was a biology major and just remember a lot of truths about ecosystems, etc. Moreover, I am very intuitive and just feel that the pond is very new and like we've all been informed, will just take a little time to balance out. Be encouraged, trust the organic route, do what you can manually, and stay on top of the "situation" vs. "problem." We are all often disappointed when the performance or delight we seek/expect is not instant. Otherwise, you have shared a million points of pure bliss during this tour and we are proud of what you accomplish each season and share. 💗🌿
I’m definitely on TEAM ARTICHOKE!!!❤😂 The size of the new properties seems large and overwhelming to plant the new screen borders. Are you tired at all from the size and scale of it all? Or is this exciting and dreams come true?
I would love to be Laura and Aaron's neighbor. They are always worrying about what view their neighbor's will have, and they make it a beautiful one. As we say in the south, "Now they are good folks." Garden Answer is always motivational and gets me in my garden. My new hobby is checking out the garden centers - Thank you, Laura and Aaron's for sharing your life with us!
SUCH A GREAT DAY & THE TIME YOU INVEST IN OUR LIVES WITH THESE TOURS AND ALL THE DETAILS ARE SUPERIOR! GREAT JOB TO AARON AS HE MODERATED THE NEW PROPERTY DETAILS. SO ANALYTICAL....THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH.
I absolutely love it when Laura and Aaron does monthly garden tours. Never , ever to long. I love how Laura gets so excited. They have beautiful stuff and I want to see everything. Thank y'all for sharing this with us. ❤
Love the Russell snippet….he’s getting a buzz from the Nepeta. I once had a cat that use to lay in mine. Just want to say how beautiful the paint job on the house looks at 13:47. Plus the Verbascum & Ginger wine NB is stunning.😊
I absolutely made it to the end! This is such a special, peaceful time of my day. I just love your interactions with Aaron over differences of opinions. Also, your positivity in this world of negativity…you see a problem or disappointment as an opportunity!❤️❤️❤️
Hi Laura, Aaron and GA team, Thank you a lovely garden tour, it gives hope and inspiration to many. Congratulations on reaching 1.9 million subscribers, you deserve that and much more wonderful things ahead.
LOVE the idea of flanking the flagstone path from the house to the Hartley with grass, and then and having the flower beds come after the grass on either side of the path. And framing the Hartley with large trees. EXCELLENT! ❤️
Laura I love how you always like areas of the property to look clean. It’s so nice for the neighbours to look at too and you are always so considerate of them. 💕 Everything is coming along so beautifully!
Hey there...watching your video now, and we are out here in Cincinnati, OH in zone 6a-b. Anyway, many Blue Spruce trees and shrubs in this area are experiencing something called Rhizosphaera needle cast which is a fungal disease. It seemingly starts at the bottom with the loss of needles and proceeds upwards on the tree until there are no needles left. Unfortunately, we found out too late and lost a 20 footer as did our neighbor across the street a couple of years ago. I know u may be in a different zone and hopefully it isn't needle cast, but I thought I'd mention it. Anyway, my wife and I love your show, and your property looks great. Have a wonderful evening.
It's catnip, Laura! Russell in the nepeta, nepeta is catnip, which was why he was acting cra cra 😂 There's a reason it's called The Cat's Pajamas/ The Cat's Meow 🤩
Have you considered getting a soil test for the area where you lost the birch and spruce? The Alaskan cedar is struggling too. Just grab a sample of soil from each area as one sample. Who knows? Could be soil deficiency or soil needs to be heavily amended.
@@elizabethfletcher3530 she did but the reason why I suggested a soil test is that she did not struggle to plant these trees. Hardpan is terrible. I dealt with it at my last house. I could never grow anything in that spot. Not even grass.
I had an Aquascape pond installed in 2020. It took 2-3 years to balance out, and I struggled with string algae. The urge to use algaecide was strong. But I remained patient and it all worked itself out.
I loved your garden tour, but probably not as much as Russell. I had to giggle at his delight and antics with the plants. Also his trying not to look too interested; but following you every step of the way! Whatta guy! It was fun to see Aaron give us a tour, too. I really enjoy when you two describe your vision of things to come.
I loved seeing your thought process as you talked about the hedge. You're going to keep them, then you're not. Just how you talked that whole part out makes me feel good about how long it takes me to make changes. Whatever you choose, it'll be amazing.
Oh my goodness I am totally the same way, I can’t stop watching a garden tour! Sometimes I get interrupted and have to pause but I always come back to finish it! These videos could be as long as you so choose to film and we will watch. I also take notes, open another window and google where to buy certain plants and seeds! I love it, it’s real life, plants do their things and some thrive… tooooo much, some bale and have to be replaced! 😂😂😂🤣
This tour was impressive! At first I thought that the new house in the south garden was much closer to the fence than the others, but I think once it’s shingled and painted it’ll fade into the background as the others have. The addition of a few larger trees will help too. There are so many trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals that everyone watching your videos will easily be inspired for planting on their own property. Sorry Aaron, team artichoke here! The architectural texture of that unique plant adds such a nice touch of whimsy to the formality of the space. Seeing the Persephone garden reminded me of that time after a wild storm when Aaron had to repair that one honey locust tree with bolts. It looks so healthy now. You’re in the thick of the puppy stage of your pond - stick it out, it’ll be so worth it. I say this as someone who doesn’t have a pond, but I have raised several lunatic puppies who turned into absolutely lovely dogs, so take my advice for what it’s worth. 🤣 You both never cease to amaze me with all you accomplish. I hope when you’re on your nightly rounds you take a moment to celebrate it.
Sorry, I can't go out tonight after all, Laura just posted a garden tour 😂🥂💐🩷
THAT PART 🎉
LOL, yes!!🎉
Same here. Lol😂

Pond dye helps control algae, also

@@mapperman999 That's exactly what was happening. So funny!
They should put a go pro on Russell for the day and see the property from his perspective ha! It might just be a video of him following Laura though 😂
I love how both cats hang out in every video. I look forward to watching them. Russell really made me laugh this time.
I'M so happy that both Laura and Aaron are tag teaming the tours now. Keep up the good work . We love it . 🌻💐🏵🌹🌼
It is nice to see a married couple enjoy each other and not trying to one up the other.
Nepeta = catmint = that is why Russell is all beside himself! Online it says catmint can trigger strange behaviors, as we see with the adorable Russell. So cute!
Yes! There’s a stray cat in our neighborhood that likes to sit on my catmint. At least Russell doesn’t damage the plant!

❤😊 AMEN ❤😊
Is it just me and my eyeballs - this video quality is on point so crystal clear and vibrant
Not just you, it’s the first video I can watch in full screen in a long time, the difference in quality is amazing!
Your fruit trees get a season of rest and strengthening. Next year should be amazing! Love your grateful attitude. Flexibility and resilience are priceless character traits. Thanks for your example to us all.
Those artichokes in that location are EVERYTHING
Totally agree!
Nepeta is catmint. That’s why your cat is going nuts in it!
Most cats don't seem to respond to catmint the way they do to catnip. Russell may be an exception!
I do LOVE the artichokes there. They bring dramatic structure to the Hartley. The symbolism of the artichoke has such historical significance ❤ From outside or inside looking out, they're gorgeous!
Artichoke: Hope & Prosperity
Russell was acting as if the salvia was catnip. Maybe they are similar?
Everything is looking beautiful! Love these garden tours! 💚💚💚
That was nepeta or catmint. It’s like a drug to them lol.
Drinking an entire pot of coffee while watching vs one cup!
I felt her heartbreak😢
Me too!!😢
Russle & Douglas always look like they're doing the garden inspections right along with you.🐈🐈⬛
Any time you show how close the development is near you all it stuns me. You have definitely created an oasis on your property ❤
I wouldn’t wanna go on vacation either rather do staycation when ur property looks like GA ❤❤❤❤
I love how Russell follows you round the garden. What a great little buddy 🐱 💕🐱
I love the artichokes. I thinking yummy artichoke dip. You definitely have plenty for it.
The cozy coupe makes it a home …not just a house.😊
Just what I was thinking! Looking back at some of these videos in years to come will make them miss seeing her driving around in that little "coupe".
I miss already....stupid...because it wasn't real anyway...
Woohoo!!! 90 minutes of beauty by GA/Laura and Aaron! It’s gonna be a great day!

Tis sad huh....
It looks like the back of those new homes are so close to fence. Do they have small back yard? Yes, time for more big evergreens! My Tiger Eye Sumac does show up here and there, but nothing like yours. Wow, I'd have to get rid of it too! Love, the garden tours, all is looking great!
Russell living his best life!🐈 ❤
Something about both of your voices is so soothing I just love watching and listening to your channel.
I love seeing Russell and his antics ... he's so precious!
They are always worrying about what view their neighbor's
will have, and they make it a beautiful one. As we say in the south, "Now they are good folks." Garden Answer is always motivational and gets me in my garden. My new hobby is checking out the garden centers - Thank you, Laura and Aaron's for sharing your life with us!
When Laura growls at her excitement with a flower, I get it🌞
Russell is always my favorite part of the videos 😻
And DOUGLAS. ❤❤❤ Love their fur babies
@@vtwlim67 yes and Douglas too when we can spot him! He's always busy ❤️
Is Cheddar still around?
@@nancymartinez257 nope
@@Inaweofgodscreation oh no, what happened to Cheddar?
Russell showing his orange cat energy
Glad to see you include the "losses" like the blue spruce, in your tour. Makes me feel like some of my dead plants, aren't just "user error"!
The best part is you are so yourselves 🙏🏻 Natural educators and leaders. So inspired by you guys and your family. Well raised 💪
You must have the luckiest neighbors. Most of us do not have a beautiful garden area to look at over the fence! 🌺🌷🌻🌲🌳
Except for the neighbours who have a berm getting mounded up against the fence 🙄
Russell is so awesome, he made me laugh out loud ❤
The Yello & black Iris are ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER. Wow, what a beautiful color contrast together. Please leave them!!
Agree !
IKR🥰
Yes! Love the contrast with the black!
Hi Laura, Aaron and GA team,
Thank you a lovely garden tour, it gives hope and inspiration to many. Congratulations on reaching 1.9 million subscribers, you deserve that and much more wonderful things ahead.
I always look at how long the video is before I watch. Thank you for a long video. I love spending time with your wonderful family.
LOVE the idea of flanking the flagstone path
from the house to the Hartley with grass, and then and having the flower beds come after the grass on either side of the path. And framing the Hartley with large trees. EXCELLENT! ❤️
What?!? Almost an hour and a half garden tour!!! Woohoo!!!!😀❤️
I am absolutely Team Artichoke! It looks like a botanical painting brought to life! These tours make my day!
Everything is looking so lovely!!! The evening strolls must be so enchanting!
A dry fountain continues to add a sculptural element to the garden. A stunning spring tour! Thank you
May also add some blue pebble stones for effect of water.
Exactly what I was going to suggest...soil test is so easy and could save future trees.
Laura mentioned there was hardpan nearby. Perhaps it is a drainage issue.
@@elizabethfletcher3530 she did but the reason why I suggested a soil test is that she did not struggle to plant these trees. Hardpan is terrible. I dealt with it at my last house. I could never grow anything in that spot. Not even grass.
They also had a couple of spots in the arbor vitae hedge near by that they had to replace more than once.
😂😂😂😂 The break to mourn. We've all been there. Sometimes you just need a hot minute 😊
Thanks for showing us the reality of your garden, it helps us out here in the real world neighborhoods!
How fortunate your neighbors will be in that new house....they overlook a beautiful "park."
Botanical garden. Stunning
I love the long videos. Love the way Aaron questions Laura about the plant.
I'm with Aaron on the artichokes - they look alienesk!!
