  • Are you tired of the cost of your heating bills in the winter time? Well, if you have a electric cloths dryer this simple DIY project can help you to lower your heating bills every time you do a load of laundry and it also humidifies your place as well. Hold on to your hard earned cash instead of giving it to the rich power company. Warning: I am sorry to say this project can only be used with an electric dryer, not gas. Thank you to Missouriwindandsolar for the inspiration for this video. • DIY How to Cut Electri...

    Put screen on the inside of the lid to cover the holes so no lent can escape.

    I am so thankful for this video. I vent my electric dryer thru the wall and had a makeshift plastic screen contraption on the outside into my patio area. It would knock down the lint, but had to sweep lint up after every dryer use. Based on your video, I made a replica of your design, painted it to match the trim and it looks great. Now the water grabs the lint and since it's already outside, I don't worry about humidity, dust particles, and having to sweep anymore. I guess I'll toss the water once a week....but love the idea. Thank you!! p.s. the air exhaust thru the top holes flows out nicely if anyone has a concern.

    Another winter heating tip: After you bake dinner in the oven, leave the oven door open to vent the heat into your home until it cools down.

      Unless you have an oven whose inside is vented to the outside the heat will make its way into the air in your home whether or not you open the door. It will just be quicker with the door open.

      Growing up dirt poor with no heating oil and absolutely no heat in the house during Pennsylvania winters, I’ve turned the oven on and just sat in front of it with the door open to try and get warm. Do not do this over night because of fire hazards but I have certainly done it for a few hours. Another tip, open you sink cubbies doors to help keep your pipes from freezing

      It's great for tossing out to the birds like when you clean your hair brush. There's a great recipe for making modeling clay, or play dough type stuff.

    So is the water just to collect the lint? After all, most of the moisture comes from the clothes.

    I used to do something similar with an old pantyhose leg and the dryer was in the cellar. I have a gas dryer now so I just vent outside and keep it lint free.

      I think that's what he's got the water in the bucket for. It's the same water-based filtration idea as a rainbow vacuum / steam cleaner.

    I just purchased a New DLEX5000W Dryer. It does not like my long Vent Tubing up the wall about 8 feet to exit out of my basement. My older LG Dryer work just fine... Has anyone used this method with 5 Gallon Bucket on a LG, is it working OK? Does the Water catch everything? I have seen this method used on Wet / Dry Vac's to sand Drywall to keep dust from going all over the place. This looks like this would work for the Dryer as well. Appreciate you comments.

    Running my dryer makes my electric bill go higher and if you're using the dryer to heat your home or a room that's going to make your electric bill go up I dry them first out outside then throw them in the dryer to fluff them up

    • @osco4311
      @osco4311 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I thinks it's meant more as a secondary option to recover the heat already being output, rather than a primary way to heat the room. Line drying is much cheaper, and I like the stiffer feeling it gives to jeans. Not as nice for towels, though. :)

      It matters where you dryer is located. Too much humidity will damage walls & floors.
