He sang for over four hours and if memory serves me right, 31 songs ( one of them twice due to some technical difficulties.) The End of the Beginning was the LAST song. He held nothing back on each song, but his voice got only stronger as the night went on. So impressive. I’m still in awe of what I saw that night, 16 years ago this month, and I can’t watch this recording without thinking about that.

I heard David sing this for the first time when he first came out with the song. He was singing with the GVB at a coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. Aside from the amazing lyrics, he blew the roof off that place, and I've been a fan ever since. It was the first time I had seen GVB live. I was also privileged to meet and talk to David at his table afterward. He is genuinely a down-to-earth guy.
When my son was 2 he would sit in front of the TV with his microphone, drum sticks and guitar and do that entire concert with David. Some of my favorite memories.

I love this song. It's also my mom's favorite. David is just incredible. Have you done "Already There"? It was one of the ones in the intro of this video, made me think of it... hard to keep track of which ones you've done and haven't done. Love it! Oh, I know it's early, but time is FLYING as you said, for Christmas you should do David's "Mary Did You Know"... not sure if there's a live performance on the tube, but his recorded version on his first Christmas album "Joy, Joy" is very powerful.
