They won a Grammy for this. They did this all a cappella. They perform it live frequently, check out the Hollywood Bowl live in 2022 or 2023. I don’t know if you didn’t want to get excited because you didn’t believe their talent or if you are truly like dry toast. Add some butter and jelly to your toast and reactions. Maybe smile and comment before the end. This song is so much beyond their filming it in their apartment and recording the video for $400. If you want to hear Kevin on his own listen to his solo “Down” by Marian Hill. You might like from Pentatonix Mad World, Kiss From A Rose, live VEVO, Can’t Hold Us, Problem, Perfect, New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Bohemian Rhapsody, and originals Love Again and Sing.
Kevin couldn't tolerate the contact lenses, hence the shades. Kevin is a musical genius. They won the Sing Off in 2011 and have been performing ever since - they can sing any genre. Check out their cover if Bohemian Rhapsody, Avi, the Bass singer, left in 2017 on amiable terms and Matt Sallee joined them as the new bass. 90's Dance Medley, Evolution of Michal Jackson, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Havana, Perfect, Say Something, Mad World - keep going, you will be amazed.
Only 1 member changed. The base had to leave for family obligations. They won a grammy for this song. They won 2 others as well. They are the best in the world. They did this video in One of their apartments in a closet and kitchen. They have tons of fantastic videos. They have a star on the walk of fame. You should look at more of their greatness.
Oh, you WILL find out allllll about them!!! LOL. Pentaholics info mode engage...be ready to duck! One of their newest is a Seal cover, Kiss from a Rose, you can see what Kevin can do with a cello. Enjoy the ride.
Baby-tonix! And their 1st Grammy Award! They recorded this in the bass' & beat boxer's closet and kitchen themselves then sent it to a private editor! Imagine that! They've just received their FIFTH Grammy Award nomination for their 2022 Christmas album! Well deserved. And they're the only a capella group to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Check out their 3 holiday choices from 2023. O Holy Night and Kiss From A Rose will blow you away! ❤ I just subbed in hopes of more Pentatonix reactions! 😊
The 2011 program, The Sing Off, is when they added Avi Kaplan (the bass) and Kevin Olusula (the cello/beatboxer). Pentatonix was actually IN Pitch Perfect! They switched out one member, Avi, in 2017 due to his family issues and wanting to start his own music journey. Matt Sallee joined them as bass at that time. They do a lot of music that is not "elevator music!" What you're seeing is their first Grammy winning performance. They also won Grammys for "The Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy" and "Jolene" with Dolly Parton. Their latest performance of "Kiss From A Rose", just shows you how far they have come. In that video, you can also see Kevin play his electric cello - and beatbox. Their "Evolution" series of videos showcases Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Rihanna. You may enjoy the 90's Dance Medley, which features their new bass, Matt. I urge you to explore and enjoy Pentatonix!
I appreciated your comments about the formation of the group, your recognition that pentatonix helped popularize a capella by making it more modern and engaging. You were quite still and intense during the video watch, but I understand that because I also get still and focused when I'm listening intently. And being professional and still isn't an insult. But it may help your channel to explain your demeanor, so it can't be misinterpreted. A capella fans are very loud, and very faithful, but also easily defensive since our preferred genre often gets looked down upon as not mainstream enough. And I am absolutely sure that they would be loud and faithful supporters of your channel if you let them know where you're coming from and continue to react to a capella.
So check out PTX covers of "Hallelujah" (over half-a-BILLION views!), "Bohemian Rhapsody:, "The Prayer" and "Sound of Silence" for starters. ALL of their Christmas songs are amazing! You guys have just begun a wonderful journey. Enjoy.
If you enjoy Bass singer's then you've got to watch The Crystal River Boy's singing Rainbow of Love. Especially the 2nd half. Never heard a Bass singer go sub bass before...
Apology for the essay. Avi (the base guy with a beard ) have left the group for personal reason and have been doing his own solo ever since. There only one person in the group that have been change, Which is Avi. But overall, all of the original members that you’ve see in the video are still part of the group and still singing together. Some of the member have their own solo music on their own channel, but still part of the group. So when/if you continue reacting to them. Just know that if a video came out before 2017, the original base singer will be in the group, and after 2017 is where the new bass singer come in. And the name of the singer is: Avi Kaplan, the bass guy and no longer part of the group Scott Hoying (the white hair guy that you see in the video) which he is blonde, he is baritone/bass. Kevin Olusola (as you already know) is a beatboxer, he sometime sing in a tenor voice, and play the cello. Kirstin Maldonado (the girl), she is soprano/mezzo Soprano, sometimes she sing in Spanish. Mitch Grassi (the dude with black hair in the video), he is a tenor/counter tenor. And Matt Sallee who have replace Avi for bass, but he sometime use tenor or baritone depending on which part that he is singing. Mitch and Kirstin have known for changing their look in every video, so the fan nicknames them a chameleons because of it. I think that all, but someone will prob explain it better or more anyway, or you can do some research if you want to know more. And if that the case, there is a video called “Beginner guide to Pentatonix” which explain/show the beginning and to present of the group, which the video is 3 year old. And show you the range from each group etc. keep in mind it doesn’t show everything of what the member can do and will show clip of the music video, so unless you want to watch their video blind, then don’t watch this guide. An easy way to say Pentatonix is PTX for short. So I think that all I can explain or think off, def miss something. Hope you guys will continue reacting to them or enjoy them. They are mostly pop style of group. So you will get some pop feel from their cover or original music. And yes you are correct about them being the first a cappella group that got famous and pick up from media. Homefree and voiceplay, which other amazing a cappella groups have follow in Pentatonix footsteps.
Hey guys. Thanks for checking out the best Acapella group out there; in my opinion. My fellow Pentaholics have told you a lot of information in the comments. That's cool, but if you really want to know the group well, I suggest you react to "the Beginner's Guide to Pentatonix" video. It covers the start of the group, its history, the early years and the later times, the famous artists they've performed with, their 3 Grammys, clips of some of their classic videos, and lots of other info that you'll find interesting.. Check out the "Beginner's Guide to Pentatonix" video please.. you won't regret it.😊👍
It's cool, you've found Pentatonix (PTX). The followers are Pentaholics. You'll be one of us, as well. The rabbit hole is addictive. I suggest, you continue with Hallelujah and Bohemian Rhapsody. Leonard Cohen, before he passed, said their version was the best. Brian Mays, from Queen also shared their version of Bohemian Rhapsody. The woman is Kirstin Maldonado (Kirsti like thirsty) mezzo-sopranno that bounces off Mitch Grassi, the counter tenor. The black gentleman is Kevin Olusola ( singer, classically trained cellist and beat boxer). Avi (Ah-vee) Kaplin is a bass but he and the tall blonde bounce off each other while the other sings. Scott Hoying is the tall blonde and is mostly singer, baritone and bass. Avi was replaced in 2017 by the other black gentleman named Matt Sallee. Avi went to start a different solo career. Check out Scott and his solo called MARS. Check out Kevin's Fifth to get a taste of Kevin's cello skills. No matter what...there's no u-turn on this fantastic journey involving this a Capella group. If you would like to see them making their magic, Check out Recording of Evergreen. Enjoy your ride, gentleman
Start their journey on how they started. The Sing Off was an acapella competition show which they won. The three you mentioned are friends (Scott, Mitch, Kirstie) found Avi (base) and Kevin (beat boxer) for the show so they only had a short amount of time to practice. Kevin does celloboxing, he does some with the group, he also has his own channel where he does more. Avi left on good terms as their schedule was very demanding and he couldnt keep up. Matt replaced him.
Loved your reaction and just subbed for more PTX reactions! Also they came out about the same time and Pentatonix was actually in their second movie at the international competition. I guess when the crowd goes wild during the scene backstage, that was authentic bc it’s when Pentatonix went onstage. Happy New Years!!
They had $400 and made a music video in an apartment: Subsequently, It was good enough to win them a Grammy. Got to really appreciate creativity that mashes a few songs into one and make visual artistry to match it. Question:Why don’t you research Pentatonix Sing-off season 3 and see where that leads you? It will certainly give you more evidence of facts.
The no blinking is what you’re impressed by?!? … come on guys!! We watch these reactions for YOUR Reactions!!! And you had ZERO!!! Or you kept them to yourselves, Either way … I suggest you listen again ( keeping in mind they can do this live) but this time, react to what you’re hearing!!! 🤦♀️
If merch is ordered today 12/28/2023 you will recieve it before Christmas 2024. just saying. Just because: Looks Tag Name Last AKA Main Vocal Scale Range From To Tall Blonde Eargasm Scott Hoying cutie Baritone low 4 + octaves 2011 Now Chameleon Slapped Mitch Grassi Messer Counter tenor 6 + octaves 2011 Now female Kissed Kirsten Maldonado Kirsty Mezzo-soprano 5 + octaves 2011 Now Big dude K.O.ed Kevin Olusola K.O. Beatboxer, tenor, cello 4+ octaves 2011 Now bearded Rumbled Avi Kaplan Kaplan Basso Profundo 5+ octaves 2011 2017 Tall dude Balmed Matt Sallee smooth Bass 3.5 octaves 2017 Now IMHO, and from the limited things I find on various searches. Now my challenge is to after looking at the catalog of PTX releases choose the song you truly think could not be done better than your favorite version and the song that you really do not like the original version. After listening to each, you will be a Pentaholix.
Great reaction and hope you check out more PTX. Btw, you mentioned the movie Pitch Perfect and Pentatonix made an appearance in Pitch Perfect 2 as one of the competitors. They are still coming out with new material and still performing at sold out concerts globally. They actually just this year were awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and have been nominated for their 5th Grammy for 2024 (they currently have been awarded 3 Grammy's). Really hoping you both check out more. Everything they do is awesome!
I have never watched a PTX reaction with reactors that seem to be attending a funeral. Wow.....Good luck gentlemen.
Agreed. No emotion
You guys seem so indifferent! They won a Grammy for this incredible music!!
@@bonniedecuir2083 and they were kinda making fun of Mitch which peeved me.
They are in shock 😂😂
😂😂😂😂 love your comment..👍🏼 🤗💋🥰
The Sing Off was an a capella contest that started the whole thing. this video was done in their apartment, cost $400 and won them their first grammy
The most reaction I’ve seen was a little chuckle from the blue shirt guy💀
I know it’s past Christmas, but you need to listen to their new video, O Holy Night. Terrific.
have watched dozens of reactions to this video and first time I have seen so little reaction...how are you not boppin to this energy? loosen up. geesh

Maybe they didn't blink because they are covering a Daft Punk song; and Daft Punk performs as robots, the non-blinking kind.

you guys should check for a pulse

They have done this live - and it's on TH-cam - doing great guys

You're right, the beat boxer couldn't handle the contacts, hence the shades. Good research on their origins.

If y'all aren't into this talent, don't do it for views. Your lack of impression means you might not need to do reactions.
Upon further watch, there is not a single genre of music that isn't repped in this video unless trap is all u vibe on. As said before, good luck gents

I've never seen blocks of stone review Pentatonix before. Totally soulless.
Wow. Were you actually reacting to a video or watching someone read a book? You both looked so bored.
AWFUL reactors😤😠😡🤬not subscribing‼️
Love PTX❤you guys not so much. In fact not at all‼️⁉️no sub
