Conducted by Arnie Roth, and performed by the WDR Radio Orchestra at Cologne, Germany (2009-09-12). Yoko Shimomura, Hiroki Kikuta, Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu were in attendance.
A fantastic orchestral medley of the Kingdom Hearts series, which includes:
- Dearly Beloved
- Sora
- Hand in Hand
- Kairi
- The Other Promise
- Happy Holidays!
- A Fight to the Death
Glad to see Benjamin Franklin alive and kicking
he's dead
youre dead
in your dreams xoxo
xoxo
judging by the video, he was probably still alive when this was filmed
That part with Roxas, wow so beautiful 4:37-7:20
Richard Hernandez yessss! And the flute solo was spot on! 👍🏽💕
its always been my dream to be part of one of those orchestras
Are you learning an instrument?
+Sirichanh -_- yeah I play violin
+BurnBabyyByrne Yay! Keep practicing! You'll be up there in no time.
+Sirichanh -_- I literally just got home from playing in a concert lol but thank you!!
+BurnBabyyByrne Yup! How was your concert?
5:07 Roxasのテーマ
フルートの音色で涙が…
I appreciate orchestra more after Kingdom Hearts and FF saga
+Kartha Mala Aletnuiq Same here! I'm going to a Strauss concert this evening, which some years ago would've been unthinkable... but Shimomura and Uematsu really managed to get me into classical music with their beautiful compositions. Many people don't realize how sophisticated video games can be as art, thinking they're just children games
Kingdom Hearts: *has a wast array of interesting and brilliant tracks significant to the story*
Composer: You know what song just HAS to be in the medley? That one bonus Christmas track.
I was just watching the Kingdom Hearts I, and Kingdom Hearts II intro when I came across this. Such an amazing performance. It's been years since I've played the games, but there will always be a piece of my heart that has been touched by not only the games themselves, but the music itself.
They actually made Sora's theme sound... good. I'm so impressed! As much as I love Sora as a character, his theme was my least favourite out of all of the other characters' themes. This truly did the piece justice!
Definitely agree!
I hope you get this comment notification so you can revisit and see your old comment from 4 years ago :)
@@111Gtfo Haha, what a trip to the past! Thanks for that, and I'm glad you agree. 😊
That moment when the piano guy starts crying while playing The Other Promise. @6:00
Yes, I would have done the same thing T_T
isn't that Roxas's theme?
+Hanna Booklover The Other Promise, yes!!! :'(
that's true passion right there
I know, right!?!?!? I mean, when I play piano at home, sometimes I get emotional...... but damn, this guy KILLED IT!!
フルートがいい仕事しすぎてロクサスのとこ思い出して自然と涙でた
すごすぎ
6:16 Holding back manly tears.
I'm A MAN! I'm A Man! I'm A Man!
I cried so bad at Roxas's theme >.
Absolutely beautiful. Wow
Ditto Man!
I would've cried if I was there
Me too
I am trying to get tickets for the World tour. I know I will cry xD
Stunning performance, extremely moved.
This is actually one of the videos I get Goosebumps and not lie about :O
This broke my heart man...
I see all these videos of orchestras performing VG music, and I'm asking myself:
Have we, at last, arrived at the point where "serious musicians" have realized that VG music has long evolved from its "Tetris" days?
Are composers such as Uematsu, Mitsuda, Shimomura, Kikuta, Otani, Hisaishi & co. finally getting recognition and respect which was long overdue?
Well, we're getting closer to that at the very least.
Arnie Roth (the conductor), thank you so much for promoting VG music.
DAT PIANIST. FEELIN THE KH VIBE.
I can't stop crying tears of happiness when the Sora Theme starts, it's so beautiful...
凄いの一言。生で聴きたい
The day when I see names like Nobou Uematsu next to names like Beethoven and Mozart in history books, and pictures of Kefka spreading his darkness over a world of hope in museums, I´ll be a very happy man.
There´s no reason for the world to miss this. I admire musicians who pass it further.
Roxas theme got me them feels!!!!!
I would like to ask All These people playing the Songs, that probably never played or seen a kingdom hearts game ever before, what they think of the work Nomura has done.
アクセル、ロクサス、シオンの3人がやっと再会出来て泣けました。
さ、4まであと何年かかるんだろーか
O.O ......there are no words...NO WORDS! that can do these songs justice.....it is just that awesome!
Such good memories!
The Sora theme is just so damn BEAUTIFUL !
7:14 ROCK THAT OBOE MAN! Oboes are freaking hard to play.
I started crying when the piano dude started playing Roxas theme alone.... and Then it just got more beautiful and I DIED.
Kingdom Hearts has the most amazing music I've ever heard.
I wish something like this would on tour and go to different countries and cities so that all kingdom hearts fans can rejoice!
The delicate piano opening seriously brought tears to my eyes. Music has such an amazing effect.
I think the person playing the grand piano was actualy crying during the roxas part
Being a musician, most often you will use peripheral vision to watch the conductor and be able to read the music simultaneously.
*explodes from feels*
Oh em gee.... The hand on hand
Did you finish yet
No.... Not yet..
Hurry up you loser
T-th-that ending *curls up in to a ball*
Best music medley/ symphony orchestral music ever.
can't wait for the world tour!!
I fangirl screamed when they played Roxas's theme. In the game Ventus's is the most beautiful while Roxas's is the saddest sounding but when it's played in an orchestra like this Roxas's is both
Is this the one coming in 2017 March?
Yeah but what month depends on where you live, the only U.S. places that i know of are Los Angeles and New York
Hanna Booklover I'm in the UK, and I bought my ticket last night! They're coming to London in March 24/25th...
Cannot wait! It will be my first ever Orchestra too, unless I go the the Symphonic Fantasies concert (Also in London) on October the 6th haha xD
Luckies, i live in Texas 😠😠
これ実際に目の前で見たいなぁ。動画で見る以上に最高なんだろうなぁ
This is so kick ass that an orchestra like this, which has no connection to the game in many senses, can still connect to it through it's beautiful soundtrack. More and more every day, video games are gaining ground by proving how versatile they are, and how they offer everyone something. :)
Man the tears just started slipping when Roxas' theme came up like omG I caN'T
The piano player for this orchestra is divine
I miss my childhood memories
Why? Have you lost them? haha
listening to all those songs makes me remeùber all those hours spent playing through all thoses wonderful games.. Kingdom Hearts, a story, a game and some wonderful musics to remember!!
6分辺りからのピアノソロ、ロクサスの悲しみがとても伝わってきて泣ける
。゚(゚´Д`゚)゚。
俺は俺だ!俺なんだ!!
i love how this isn't played by some young teenagers, but old men and women who love music just as much as we do
simplesmente fantástico
Dammit, every time I hear this I cry. Even in the game. EVEN WHEN I PLAYED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME-the game I mean. Created this magical, glimmery, emotional, feeling in my heart. That sounds so cheesy but it's entirely true.
ロクサスのとこで泣いた人👍
ヨハネ推しゆーと 俺は俺だ!俺なんだ!
God bless you Yoko Shimomura. You have carried on the torch of Uematsu proudly.
Amazing
I was watching the "Final Boss Encore," and I was thrilled to hear Destati. I started thinking, "Man, these guys need to do a whole piece on Kingdom Hearts."
=D
i crie everehteim
damn you roxas and your powerful music
that last part almost got me crying..... manly tears were almost shed....
I bet if they Knew the Story of the game, they would´ve cried at Roxas theme ... (srry bad english lol)
+Madam Red Your statement was actually grammatically flawless hahaha
Ouch.
+Parker Hallof Bar a few capital letters, yes.
it's kind of ironic how most people that say "srry bad english" manage to actually do better than those that have it as their first language
Well for a fact, the guy playing the Piano probably does, wanna guess why?
I´m sure Kingdom Hearts fans are very happy to see this.
So beautifully arranged, It´s a wonderful medley :D
Kingdom Hearts wouldn´t be the same without Yoko Shimomura... how can she create songs like that? PERFECT! They sure make us travel through other worlds!
I love KH!
4:30-7:19 ROXAS' THEME :)
Itara I thought it was soras them
E
I swear, I think I've probably pressed the "Add to Favorites" button a bajillion times by now to make sure that it stays in my fave list..... Just too beautiful. Especially when they're playing Roxas' theme.... It game me chills down my spine, and made my heart wrench for how much feeling it has.
i wonder if they have played the game before lol
ScarletFierce Most likely not. Musicians tend to be able to play music without having listened to them before
***** would have been cool though haha
***** noice
The guy playing the piano obviously played the game. He was crying because he knew what happened to Roxas 💀
I AM GETTING SO MANY FEELS AND SO HYPED FOR KH3 NOW
omg omg omg omg.....
LeyKH1 I read that in Ven's voice
Video game music is like music you hear in a store or in a movie soundtrack, there's no clear separation of it's elements aside from the fact that it is used in a video game. A lot of games use classical instruments, techno, opera, country and even a fusion of these. I get what you're saying, the nostalgia and joy of video games music is something precious to those of us growing up with it. I wouldn't have as much fun in a classical Opera, but then again Opera wasn't a part of my childhood.
2:02 is just a good part
I have so much respect for all of them
ROXAAAAAAAS!!!!
This is so beautiful. I am so... in awe right now.
I swear, I can't die until I've attended one of these concerts.
Not enough love for Happy Holidays :(
Makes me glad I play the flute in band. It may be awkward being the only guy but in the end it is worth it to get to listen and play music
Roxas
"The Other Promise" segment always gets me. My eyes water up, and augh, just so good. Such an emotionally charged arrangement of music.
who is the young boy who play the piano?
Benjamin Nuss.
He and the orchestra gave another concert this Saturday with only Final Fantasy X
oooo wow thankyou ... great
the guy on the piano kinda looks like he's going to cry himself from the beauty of this!
ahhh this was so wonderful :(
I wonder if the old people know what they are playing...
Does it matter?
Wow, I guess beautiful music really makes the time pass quickly. I just realized I've been listening to various Symphonic Fantasies medleys nonstop for the past hour!
I was expecting a bunch of Asians playing, not old white people.
Same!
Its in Germany not Japan and of course there would be more older people. It would be pretty expansive traveling with one orchestra to give concerts, when other countries also have talented people
Beautiful....Simply....
It's music like this that makes kingdom hearts proud
Couldn't tell if it was from my room being cold or what,
but literal chills ran down my spine when I heard The Other Promise starting to be played.
Manly tears were shed....
This is the song I will listen to when I actually make it to that paradise island, and sit on that palm tree, watching the endless ocean bring waves of distant memories onto the white sand beach. And I'll remember and thank what started it all.
chills, chills everywhere.
This could not be the best game ever, but is the best soundtrack ever!
Without video games, I would not have developed the interest in Orchestra music.
this is so awesome I like how they changed it up
@theflorianmanflorian
Indeed! It is called "Benyamin Nuss plays Uematsu" and it will be released by Universal Music on September 17, 2010. It features music from Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon etc... and! Benyamin Nuss will go on tour with those arrangements! 20 stops all over Germany this September. Just check for his name on Eventim.
the nostalgia is overwhelming, i cant even words, pure awsome
This gives me chills.
Just beautiful
as they play the music that all of us love, and it brings us to tears and brings so many memories. I wish I could play this music with them!
5:58 made me shudder (: this collection of songs is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
thank you ...you wake up my feelings... you make me cry...you make me remind of who i am... i thank the good that you exist...well done very good work...thanks for everything...
Damn right!! Who could hold those tears back?? Whoever did, HEARTLESS!!
omg. when it hit 5:20ish... my skin got the chills. love it.
Happy Holidays is my favorite out of this. It sounds so happy with the flutes
Beautiful.
This is amazing. I could listen to it forever... 3:45 is the best!
Congratulations! You are one of the very few people who make sense on TH-cam! Knowing that, how does that make you feel?
Man, when it cuts to the solo piano in the The Other Promise...
MANLY TEARS
the other promise is freakin awesome! im-im speechless!
I notice lately more orchestras are playing more game music. The hidden gems we've always known
I had the privilege to see a high school band perform an arrangement of several compositions from video games a couple months ago...they performed hikari and...it was GREAT
no other words... just beautiful~
