Orchestral Game Music Concert, entitled "Symphonic Fantasies", featuring arrangements of some of Square's greatest hits. Conducted by Arnie Roth, and performed by the WDR Radio Orchestra at Cologne, Germany (2009-09-12). Yoko Shimomura, Hiroki Kikuta, Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu were in attendance.

I was there when the four warriors of light crossed the bridge to Corneria after defeating the evil Garland.
I was there when Cloud and Barret fought their way into the Mako reactor.
I was there when Sephiroth entered the very life force of the planet.
I was there when Cecil rode the chocobo back from Mount Ordeals with Tellah, Palom and Porom in tow, after forever abandoning his dark sword outside the shrine at it's peak.
I was there when Cyan, Sabin, and Shadow fled from Doma Castle through the Phantom Forest on the train to the afterlife.
I was there when Bartz dueled courageously against the mighty yet eccentrically odd Gilgamesh at the Big Bridge.
I was there through every moment of joy, grief, hope, despair, desperation, and determination against impossible odds that each song in this medley calls to mind. I could never expect another human being to understand the intensity of the thrill of adventure and the call to heroism that these songs bring to mind every single time I hear them, but I followed each of these heroes to their ultimate destinies, walked with them through their trials and hardships, endured their sorrows, learned their life lessons, celebrated their victories great and small, and saved their worlds armed only with a d-pad controller and their aid. I WAS THERE!

The intro is one of the most beautiful pieces ever put to paper. An absolute masterpiece.........then people discover it is from a video game and dismiss it as drivel.

That harp at the very beginning gave me chills. I love it
First that intro music just made me emotional, then the FF7 battle music was so damn powerful, beautiful and emotional! Listening to that song makes me remember the first time I used the Limit Break and I was like " shit what hell is this power?! Some kind of temporary super sayin?"

It was wonderful wasn't it. that feeling. my childhood. wonderful memories the music was full of emotion, I didn't mind the graphics it actually helped since I filled in the gaps... wow. best game I ever played.
* continued* music combined with images or what you are doing in the game is utterly astounding! This man not only did this for the games themselves. But to perform like this, and with his group The Black Mages, just shows his soul and passion for his creation. I love all the music in the games. I replay the games all the time because of this. May this man continue for a long time to bring us music. Arigato Uematsu-san.

i grew up on ff in 1989 and in the yrs of playing i always loved the music. seeing this orchestrated my be the greatest thing I've ever seen. i remember trying to talk to kids at school about ff and of course no one else cared for it but it really made my childhood great!

Nobuo Uematsu is amazing! It's so incredible how he is able to create such passion and emotion in his music. When I hear music form the FF series I can't help but be transported back to when I first played some of these games, and the feeling is awesome!

This guy is and will always be a legendary composer of our time. This man has made all the Final Fantasy games so much fun to play. A story can only do so much, with music that is so beautiful and captures the feeling of the game throughout. Battles, dreadful/boss battles, ultimate/final boss battles, overworld, underworld, characters (both sides), area music, sad/loss, town, castle, bridge (FFV), 2 worlds, (V and VI), the ever staple CHOCOBO!, symphonic OWA, Kefka, and ENDING (IV V VI)*more*

Arnie Roth is a fantastic conductor, I had the opportunity to see him perform a Final Fantasy concert in St. Louis, he played some really great medleys. It was also a great bonus that Mr. Uematsu played Dark World with Mr. Roth.

Final Fantasy VII Battle Theme was true epic with the choir.
I was there and I couldn't believe my ears. It was truely amazing.
Listened for about 2 min and was already in love with this, SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

I was supposed to watch the highlights from yesterdays NBA games and ended up watching this instead.. Im NOT disappointed, i love my old childhood memories from FF!
FFVII was particularly memorable for it's soundtrack and the breakthrough into 3D from the usual 2D FF games. The production put into FFVII was amazing and it showed!
Sure, it may have been my first real exposure into the FF world, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I am currently getting into the previous FF games on my iphone. I certainly see the praise they also deserve. But that nostalgia in my heart will always go to FFVII. Chrono Trigger is also a big fave of mine.

Dayum, we had a symphonic concert with Kenichi Shimura as a conductor. He along with his crew performed the 2-hour medley that represented the whole plot of the game. That was really hype. I just wanted to thank god for gifting me with this performance
That chocobo theme busted in that about four times but it's so far still the best medley i've ever heard

There's VI music in this medley; starting at 6:34. The Phantom Forest starts here, and it sounds like there's some bits of Phantom Train and the Opera as well! VI isn't ignored at all! It takes up the latter third of the video, until the last few seconds, where Battle on the Big Bridge starts to cut in. Perhaps you couldn't hear it over the sound of hatred in your own head.

wow its really amazing how just a performance can convey so many different feelings at once... the beginning sounds like ur walking in some kind of white place... and some how different things began to come up (like the harp starts to play and then other instruments began to play..) and then when the chorus began's u c a bright but beautiful light.. O.o

So beautiful.
I wonder what all the people in the audience who didn't know anything about Final Fantasy were thinking when they heard that this came from a video game franchise.

The music made for the final fantasy is simply the best music ever. Even better than any music from movies or musicals or w/e.
Im not a fan of Arnie Roth's conducting style, but I do admire the fact that he's the only conductor that is pretty much solely devoting his time to video game music. Bravo Maestro!

I have never seen that! A music of video games which reproduces in orchestra! It is incredible! It is a revolution! Final Fantasy reached summits and I think that that is going to last even a lot of time, but I hope for it!
