The next time someone tells you frame rates don't matter as long as they're consistent, show them this game.
Yeah, and the caveat always was rates above 30fps

This was released in the same year as Commander Keen. Amazing how much of a difference a couple of clever tricks can make.
LOZ you have some of the best commentary every time you grace the stage.
Love the Sound Blaster OST.
Those extended i-frames are hilarious. I assume that was a concession to the choppy frame rate making it hard to time your inputs. This looks really difficult.
The only *true* way to play Castlevania is on DOS

1 second shy of estimate. I enjoyed mega games for the DOS a long time ago, just something about the quality of them that gives a unusual classic feel to them.
It's kind of amusing as someone who was a gamer back in those days. DOS games were seen as amazing compared to what was on consoles at the time. Now I look back at them with a "Wow, that was relatively state of the art" mentality.
But the PC was really bad for action arcade games.
Simon DOSmont looks like a boy scout troop leader in this version.

Nice run, but omg, this version of the game makes me want to cry...
The C64 version may have had uglier sprites and dirty sounding music, but it played pretty damn well, and against the DOS version there was no contest.

im watching it and im just so fucking angry, cause im pretty sure the GBA version didnt had that many invincibility frames, and this game has been the the bane of my existence as a kid

As a speedrunner of this game myself, the DOS version is definitely much easier than the NES version in my opinion.
