    I'm loving the 24mm lens! I might have to pick one up for an engagement shoot I have planned in April!

    Around 22:30 you mention a tutorial showing how to use your iphone reflection trick to achieve some cool effects on pictures, would you mind telling me which video you were talking about? Can't find it. I've just came to your channel a while ago and can't stop watching, great job!

    When using the spot removal tool you can hit forward slash / and it will have another guess. It's still far from perfect but sometimes it does a much better job with another guess. Thanks for the video mate.

    I know you're using a preset but I'm really curious how you're getting such warm tones. I know it's partly colour temp but is the rest hsl, split toning or a combo of both? I really like your editing style and I need to carve out my own and understand how to construct something like this. Thanks in advance.

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a mix of everything really. To all values mostly in the curves, then HSL, spit toning and colour calibration. A good preset is actually quite complex to get good colours and keep skin tone accurate and pleasant

    Hey Chris, have you noticed any missed focus shots with the a7riii and 24mm 1.4 gm? I'm finding about 10% of my shots with that combo seem to back focus at any aperture 1.4 up to f8. I'm always in continuous focus and usually flexible spot or eye auto focus. Cant seem to replicate the issue with the lens on a7iii and cant replicate the problem on the a7riii with my 55mm 1.8 or my 135mm 1.8.
    Great content, convinced me to get the 24mm gm with that epic beach engagment awhile back. Keep it up!

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey no I don’t notice that at all, if your around F8 you’ll probably notice it not as responsive it definitely focuses best bellow f4 on continuous

      Hi Charles, sorry to jump in but can I ask your thoughts on the 55mm f1.8? I'm considering picking one up - I currently have the tamron 28-75 to cover my "50" equivalent but that f1.8 is tempting! I'm really torn between whether I'd like to stick with the convenience of the zoom or have the benefit of shallower DOF! I also have the 135mm GM which is pretty much a permanent fix on one camera - beauty of a lens!!

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer

      Simon King PPT get the 55, trust me

    • @kingweddingmedia
      @kingweddingmedia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChrisTurnerPhotographer ha ha! Not exactly the answer my head wanted to hear!! I have the sony 35mm f1.8 so also a little concerned that there won't be too much of a difference with those focal lengths, and one of the two lenses would end up collecting dust. But we'll see! Constantly torn between having one prime and one zoom on my two cameras or two primes. I love your colour editing in these shots Chris! Enjoyed this video, would be keen to see more like this, or maybe more talking through your thought process on your compositions etc!

    Great vid Chris, thanks. Maybe a silly question, but why 75% quality on the export? Is it just a matter of file size or is there a different reason for not doing 100%? Also, do you "sharpen for screen" standard on export or something different? Thanks man.

    • @privilegezudaire1239
      @privilegezudaire1239 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      from 75% to 100% export there is not much difference in quality. and reduces weight considerably.

    Any reason you don't use a CPL or Variable-ND to control highlights better, rather than under exposing?

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for the feedback! I could be wrong but I don’t see how that’s going to change anything. An ND darkens the whole exposure not just the highlights. Plus the cameras have such good DR it’s not really needed.

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a dumb question mate, it’s just about being on an angle so there faces are on the same plane. Also it’s easier to shoot at 1.4 on a 24mm

    • @guitardude6464
      @guitardude6464 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisTurnerPhotographer awesome! Thank you! Why does shooting 24mm make it easier?

    • @ChrisTurnerPhotographer
      @ChrisTurnerPhotographer  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just because the compression isn’t as much as say a 35 or 50 so the depth of field isn’t as shallow with the same framing. Gets a little complicated haha but you get used to it. Just think of focus as a sheet of paper. If your facing directly on to the paper everything on the sheet will be in focus
