Baal in hebrew means lord/master. Nimrod presented himself as a god/lord over the world at tower of babel, he also established world religion to replacd worship of Father! I agree with you though. Baal is usually associated with false idols. i think there is more to it. My two cents, perhaps david called it baal perizim because God "broke through" Baal aka Nimrod aka the Philippines. Using the Holy Spirit discernment, this tells me the Philistines' god "Dagon" is another form of "Baal" the son of Semiramis/Astarte/Semiramis. Keep digging as the Holy Spirit leads you 😊
