- Thank you so much for WATCHing my video and I hope that you check out all my other content.
I release 3 videos per week, all watch related, including reviews, first impressions and general watch related topics.
I try very hard to diversify my content as well and will feature big known watch brands, microbrands as well as Aliexpress watches.
The majority of the watches I feature are in the affordable range but I do try and get some less affordable watches as well.
Most of the watches that I feature I have bought with my own money. I buy them to enjoy and wear but I also to feature them on this channel.
Being a smaller channel it is challenging to cover the cost of all the watches that I buy and partly because of this I have become an affiliate member with a number of companies including Aliexpress, Ashford.com and Jomashop.
If you are looking for watches from well known brands then it is worth checking out:
www.ashford.com
www.jomashop.com
If you are looking for great strap options then definitly check out:
vario.sg/
and
artemstraps.co...
As an affiliate member I may leave affiliate links in the descriptions of videos. These links will direct you to the watches that I’ve experienced, reviewed and would certainly recommend. If you choose to use those links I will earn a very small commission.
Thank you very much if you choose to use those links.
Below are affiliate links for my absolute favorite watches on Aliexpress. Each of them I have owned and had positive experiences with the stores that they are linked to.

I have a 556A and I love it. I get a lot of compliments on it; it's a really great watch
They make great watches
To be exact, you should have purchased the 556 A RS. "A" means arabics at the cardinal points and "RS" means red second. It's got an unobtrusive 4:30 date window. By far the best looking imo.
Thanks for WATCHing
The red second isn't so versatile if you put a colored strap on it
@@TillSwims I'm planning to purchase this model. Still deciding on the A or RS.
Nah! I still stick to my 556i😊
It has been great to get hands on with this one
In answer to your question; I would say should have purchased! Picked one up pre-owned at a brilliant price and is one of my favourite pieces in my collection. Bit of a strap monster and although bracelet is pretty good have had this on a few leather straps and currently have it on a rubber tropic - definitely a keeper 👌
It is a wonderful watch.
The extension does not necessarily have to be for diving use. Can be used as a pilot's watch or a field watch (the German Eyplorer), the watch can also be worn over thick jackets. I would hope that this feature would be viewed as a nice to have. By the way, you can also dive with the watch. when using a dive computer. Thanks for the nice video. I own the 556 A on the bracelet and it is my absolute favorite watch. always fits my life.
It is a really nice watch. I love the brand and have been really impressed by what they have to offer.
People dived with Oyster Peps before the Sub but after the invention of the timing bezel...........Telling the time, and remembering when you entered the water isn't that tricky. Love this Sinn too btw, Explorer style plain "adventure" watch as they used to say in the 70's ads.....remember the Nautalis was advertised on a wetsuit wrist shot in the 70's
I’m a big fan of this style of watch. Very clean looking and just so easy to wear.
Nice watch. Thanks for the nice quick review. It is a very classic design. I've considered it but have never seen it in person.
It is a shame that watches like this one are not more available to see in person.
Great watch and review. Can't hardly wait for the comparo with the Damasko. I love both brands. Cheers!
It is going to be one of the most interesting comparisons I’ve done. Both are great watches.
I would like to see that comparison video too. 🕐⚙️🍸
my favourite watch in the market.
It is very nice
Enjoyed the video! I like Sinn a lot and plan to purchase the 556a sometime this year. Cheers.
They are incredible watches.
Worth also looking into Damasko as an alternative.
Both are fantastic but I’ve ended up liking them a little bit more.
@@WATCHingJames I agree both are wonderful watches. I decided on the 556a due to the size, especially the lug to lug length.
Nice one James. It's been one I have had in my cart many times but I have never pulled the trigger... Maybe one day :)
Thanks mate. It has been great to be able to borrow this one.
This watch, along with almost all Sinn watches have several layers of AR on both sides of the crystal. It almost makes the crystal disappear. However, the AR on the top is a fingerprint magnet & without much effort, can wear off. I have this watch & it's in the top 10 pieces of my collection.
It has been a great watch to get hands on with. I can now see why it is so popular
Yet another watch I haven’t seen in the flesh, it does look a well engineered piece. It is one I would like to try on. I think there is a slightly different version I prefer the look of, but this does look classy for the style of watch it is. 👍
There's one with 3 6 9 and 12 numerals, the 556A, that I like better than this one.
It is very nice. It is a shame that brands like this are not more easily available to get hands on with.
Germany make well made solid watches much like there cars beautifully engineered. Cheers james
They certainly are. I drive an Audi and can just feel the better build quality as you drive. The same as this Sinn as well as my Damasko and Stowa.
Bought the 502 instead! Looked the goods!
A great choice.
The introduction sounds just like me, I've almost bought the 556 many times most recently I ended up with a Sinn 104 instead.
There have been a few watches like this for me. The Sinn was definitely high on that list before I came across my Damasko
That’s not a dive extension, it allows wearing the watch over a jacket for outdoor activities.
Ahhhhhh. That makes more sense.
For me it was between the Sinn 556 and the Damasko DS-30 I went with the DS-30
I did too. It has been interesting to have both watches in hand to see which I like better.
It’s the Damasko 😁
@@WATCHingJames I’m with you the Damasko is the better choice and I did own the SiNN 104
If you see the 556i bracelet in reality...it's nice! Just remove the diver extension then it's perfect
It is very nice.
They do make very well engineered watches. Personally whenever I see a simple black dialled watch I think is Sinn, I do love the dials on Sinn's. I'm more drawn to their divers as I'm more into that genre, not got one as yet but it's a brand I do look at regularly. Thanks James.
I’ve just borrowed one of their divers too and I prefer it as well.
I have a Sinn 556 A and a Damasko DS 30 and the Damasko definitely wins. It wins in terms of look, wearability and accuracy. And the lume on my Sinn is really bad. The 556 I may be better. If one has to go, it will be the Sinn. 🕐⚙️🍸
I have come to the same conclusion. Both are great. But the Damasko is something extra special
@@WATCHingJames 100%!
Hi James. I - and it seems many others on the inter web - have been tossing up between a 556i and a CW C63 Sealander. You’ve had the C60 Trident… any views on CW v Sinn?
I've got both a Sinn 556 ir (red seconds hand) and a CW c63 sealander with bronze case and see through sapphire dial. Love both. Would fight you to give one up.
Only negatives.. On the Sinn the clasp is a bit long and also polished. So it can be a scratch magnet. Should definitely be more refined for that price. I don't mind the extension though, it is solid. On the CW, it is excellent value for the money at about $600 less. The only negative is the sapphire glass is a bit refective at times. Could use more AR coating so you can better explore the movement. Looks great on a distressed brown soft leather strap. Cheers,
That’s a really good question. Both are incredible.
I think I would go for the CW.
But even better is the Damasko. Hahaha
@@WATCHingJames Domasco wasn't on my radar when I purchased the 556. My Sinn is a keeper, it can easily be a daily wearer. Although I've got 7 others in my watchbox that compete for wrist time.😄
I have the Sinn 556i RS. It's a great watch, but the clasp is definitely its weakest feature. If it had on-the-fly microadjust, or more microadjust holes instead of the extension, it could be the perfect everyday gada watch.
Hopefully they improve the clasp. It would take this watch to the next level.
I just removed the divers extension using the extensions pin through the last element of the bracelet. It's doing ok this way :) It's not 100 % perfect, because the pin is a little too thin for the hole of the bracelets element, but it's doing it's job :D
@@BetonBenni I’ve been wearing mine the exact same way. I can’t get a perfect fit with the extension in place.
@@robh.2400 but still it is either a tad too tight or a little loose 😅
try the baltany version. its impressive!!!!
I have the Tandorio. It's my most worn watch.
I will have to check it out. Baltany is turning into one of my favourite AliExpress brands.
OOPS! i meant BERNY. BALTANY is good too. @@WATCHingJames
👍
👍
What are the white dots on the dial?
That’s me not cleaning it enough.
You can’t see it but the Marco lense can.
I’m trying to get better at this but is hard when you can only see it after you record it
How does the lume hold out during the night?
Pretty good. Not as good as some of my divers but I was still impressed
@@WATCHingJames would you say it's legible the whole night?
James, it's pronounced "Zinn" with the "Z" sound, not the "S" sound.
Thank you.
Nope, it's pronounced Sinn, with an "S" :)
It's pronounced like the English word sin, maybe the i is spoken a little faster, I don't know, but it's definitely not Zinn :)
@BetonBenni the Sinn CEO pronounces it "Zinn". My second language is German. Make no mistake, it's pronounced "Zinn".
@@jonirwin7316 Do you have a link, where he does pronounce it Zinn? I mean, my first language is German and it's pronounced Sinn... 😁
I prefer a Damasko. The hands on this Sinn are way to short. A shame really.
Me too
AU$2200 for a Sinn 556 with only 3 microadjusts and a friction lock. Terrible. I think it should be priced about the same as a Christopher Ward diver - perhaps about AU$1400. Sinn need to sort out their clasps and knock a good $500 at least off the price.
They used to be much more affordable. It was only a couple of years ago I was seeing them sell used for $1000.
Not anymore. 😢
