I am in Zimbabwe. There truly has been a drought, but Baobab trees are only found in drier and more arid parts of the country. Therefore, if the selling of the fruit has somewhat helped people, it has only helped a small fraction of the population in the drought-stricken parts of Zimbabwean rural areas.

What market in Zimbabwe would be able to buy enough Cream of Tartar (Boabab Fruit) to sustain any family economically. Me thinks this is a European reporting on stuff that he knows nothing about.
Yes. Though that’s only part true. The West has tried to make an example of Zim for taking its land back. And then the politicians and their greed made bad worse. Ofcourse many of them send their kids to SA and UK schools. They get healthcare there as well. And then they’re ruthless. Such that Zimbabweans of working age are outside of Zim. Leaving thieves to loot unabated. Of course SA caused a disaster by claiming Mugabe vs Tsvangirai we’re free and fair when they were not. But Zim’s brain power needs to return if they want to win the country back from thugs.

Don't pity them. The majority of these rural areas voted for a government that failed to prepare for a drought, despite being in power for 45 years and going through multiple droughts. Let them reap what they have sown, maybe next time those that survive will vote with their heads.
If there was an organisation (uncorrupted and not wastefully spending, with huge salaries) we could donate and help them along. We wouldn't get poorer...

There are over 10,000 bamboo processing enterprises, and the output value of the bamboo industry has increased from 82 billion yuan ($11.26 million) in 2010 to 415.3 billion yuan in 2022, with an average annual growth rate of over 30 percent.
Bamboo shoots are a good source of nutrition. They are consumed as a delicacy in certain areas of India. India is the second-largest producer of Bamboo in the world whereas China is the first largest producer. The country's estimated annual production of Bamboo is around 3.23 million tons. Ethiopia with about 1 million hectares of indigenous bamboo, is the biggest bamboo grower in Africa. It is home to 67% of all African bamboo.
Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment. Having a bigger population in any country than the country can support makes no sense. Access to food, water, shelter, energy and jobs should guide population levels. The worlds population is still expected to add another billion people to feed, clothe and produce pollution. Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Education and birth control are key to reducing poverty and hunger. Having a child that you can not provide for yourself is cruel and irresponsible. We need solutions not just sympathy. Endless population growth is not sustainable on a finite planet. Every country needs to "TRY" to be more self sufficient. When there are not enough resources to sustain a population something has to give. Countries need to focus on quality of life for their citizens and not just quantity of life for cheap labor. Why import fossil fuels when wind and solar energy can be produced locally and solar energy can power electric vehicles. We need solutions not just sympathy.
The problem is how does a society reign in population growth? What is a humane method that doesn't involve gross abuse of human rights or outright violence? How do you tell somebody who is pregnant that they're not allowed to have their child? You cannot force someone to be on birth control and many religious people are opposed to it. Rural communities often rely on having a lot of kids as a safety net for the older family members and to create a communal work force for everyone to survive. I'm not saying it's right, but that's what happens. We've already seen how much an aging population (in the west) relies on infrastructure to care for its elderly. The fewer kids are born, the lower the odds *anyone* will be there to care for their parents when they are sick or elderly. Again, not saying it's right. I don't see any answer to this. Education alone isn't enough. Not everyone on the planet can work in a white-collar office job, producing nothing. Someone still has to grow the food and dig the ditches. Aging populations have a problem of great demand and no supply for certain kinds of jobs. They solve this problem by importing from other population groups, but that's not a permanent solution if those other population groups eventually become aging populations themselves. Every country should try to be self-sufficient, but the current economic system is not designed to do this, but rather the opposite. It would require a complete global collapse or similar apocalyptic event to shift perspectives and the direction of world economies. We saw some countries move away from globalism in response to the Ukraine war, but only in very small ways.
@@TheSamuraiGoomba Education and birth control are key to reducing poverty and hunger. Having a child that you can not provide for yourself is cruel and irresponsible.
