    Most major tech channels aren’t covering this phone. I’m an iPhone user but I do appreciate how well android has evolved the last few years. I am considering the a13 5g as my backup phone to view content on and just game or do social media on. I like all that Samsung managed to include on this device for its price. I had a Moto G Power 2020 and while it was an ok device, it left a lot to be desired. The phone part of that smartphone was awful and I couldn’t hear calls on it, the processor was sometimes sluggish, and overall it wasn’t a good value since it only got 1 android update on it. This a13 is promised to get at least 2 OS updates and 3 or 4 security patch updates. It a much better deal and from all I’ve watched and read about Samsung phones, they all have strong phone reception which is a must for me. Doesn’t matter how smart the phone is, it isn’t complete without the phone part of it functioning correctly.

      I'm considering this phone as a backup phone too. I have an iPhone 12 Pro as my daily use phone, but like to keep an Android phone around as well. I currently have Pixel 3 which is still working great, but Google has stopped supporting it with security updates. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a phone that I won't be using a lot, and the price is right for this phone. Sure, there are compromises, but at this price they can be overlooked.

      @@egreene59 android devices have come a long way in the last few years. I even briefly considered getting the Pixel 4XL when it was brand new as my primary phone. But it’s hard to compare to an iPhone so I have the XR as my primary phone now. Android does have certain features that iPhones do not and the budget segment for android just keeps offering tons of features for little money. This a13 5g seems to be close to the top of that list.

      @@DWtechfan I was an Android user for several years. I've owned phones by Samsung, Sony and LG, as well as Samsung tablets. I liked all of them. I made the switch to iPhones in 2017 with the iPhone 8 Plus. No particular reason why. I just wanted to give iPhones a try. I'm now on my third iPhone (12 Pro). I own two Mac computers and an iPad Pro, and really like how the devices work together. I still enjoy dabbling in the Android world, however, which is why I've owned a Pixel 2, and now a Pixel 3. The Pixel 3 has been a great phone. It's still working as well as it did the day I bought it, but now that Google gave it its last security update in January, I have to think about getting another Android phone. It's a shame, really, to have to part with a perfectly good phone. Apple phones are pricey, but they support their phones way longer than most Android manufacturers. I could get the Pixel 6, which supposedly will be supported for up to 5 years, but it costs way more than I want to spend on a phone I'll only use as a backup. That's why the A13 appeals to me. The price is low, and the compromises can be overlooked at this price. 720p screen resolution, for example, is no big deal to me. I can live with that, especially for a phone that costs $249 (actually $199 if I trade in my Pixel 3). Plus it will get at least one OS update and 4 years of security updates. That's reasonable for a budget Android phone.

    • @DWtechfan

      @@egreene59 it’s kinda the same deal here. I got a brand new iPhone 6S Plus and have been firmly invested in iPhones since then. I briefly owned the 2020 Moto G Power because I wanted a long lasting battery but I found out pretty quickly that Motorola does excellent on battery life and that’s about it. The Snapdragon 665 on it started out strong but winded up lagging a lot towards the end and the call quality outright sucked. It was just ok on speaker phone but if I used it at work as a regular to the ear phone, it sounded awful. Then I noticed firsthand that Motorola is very slow to update just the security patches and usually only get maybe one or two OS updates total. Before I ever owned an iPhone, I bought cheap android phones and had numerous brands that were very unstable and had issues such as overheating and constant crashing and I will say Motorola was much better. iOS is still the superior brand of smartphone just on quality build, OS updates, and general reliability. That said, there are many things I miss from android and it’s just little things that android gets right that iPhone still doesn’t do. Moto actions were great and had the chop motion for the flashlight, twist to activate camera mode, flip over for do not disturb, and an awesome feature where you could use volume up/down to skip tracks while playing music. Another android feature I miss is when you set an alarm, it automatically displays how long in hours/minutes/seconds you have until it goes off which is a minor thing but it’s something you miss once you have it. Android also has the always on display which iPhone has never had in any phones. I like the pixel phones from Google but those get very mixed reviews and my brother has owned many phones and had issues with his pixels. Samsung seems to be the best android on the market and they get many great reviews for call quality which is something most phones forget. They give you the smart part but never deliver the phone part of “smartphone”. Still, iPhone is the king of phones because they get so many updates and offer quality for many years. Android has also come a long way since it began and they get many things right. I’m still heavily considering the a13 5g because it’s a great android device that seems to offer much value for its price.

      @@DWtechfan I ended up getting the A32 5G. It was only slightly more expensive, and has a bit better build quality, to include Gorilla Glass for the screen. But, I think I would have been satisfied with the A13.

    I swear, I just watched a Samsung ad.
    This was so informative, as I'm having an A13 shipped to me by a friend who bought it when it first released (she converted to Apple), so I wanted to get to know the A13 a little better.
    When she first bought it, it was VERY lightly used she said, and only really used it for taking photos.
    I'm very excited with these specs, AMAZING and INFORMATIVE video!

    Had this model for a month now. I really enjoy it, especially as it is an upgrade to my 2018 Galaxy J3 Luna. Love the battery life, although really was disappointed by not having a wall wart included with it, as this cord is USB C on both ends, and I had to go back for a way to charge it. The fast charge is amazing. Cameras, they are all upgrades as compared to my old J3 Luna, but I can see how people who upgrade more often might be disappointed.

    UPDATE: My Samsung A13 5G received the February 2024 software update only to become way slower and the battery charge lasts half the time it used to last before this update. Question: is Samsung doing it to push users to buy a newer Samsung phone? To me it looks like Samsung is tricking us to buy a new phone. I was happy with Samsung phones before, I am not anymore. Actually, I am thinking my next phone will not be Samsung, definitely.

    I got the boost version of the A13 5G and it's pretty good. I had to go through the settings and turned off Battery Optimization for almost every app service or feature on it. Everything works better now even though the battery lasts less but finger print reading, navigation gestures, wifi connectivity, everything runs amazing now. You're able to make it so that apps can use RAM unchecked which is good for large, 3D, or game applications as well. The best game I think to play that uses the 90hz display to it's full advantage is Critical Ops which has a setting to make it so it'll try to reach 90fps. Overall I think it's a complete budget friendly phone that lives up to expectations.

    • @itznever887
      @itznever887 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude I just go it I good internet and My wifi is 4g but my game has lag fps is fine tho idk how apps can used ram unchecked please explain

    • @manuel12ox
      @manuel12ox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@itznever887 it's in the settings under battery and device care. You go to memory it'll scan what's going on and after you click on excluded apps and you add all the apps you want excluded from their ram usage being reset. I suggest adding all the apps it allows you for some reason the phone works better like this. Another thing you can do is go to the display tab then full screen apps and set every app to show the camera cutout. If it's only a few or one or when you download a new app that's not set to show the camera cutout it'll feel like the phone doesn't sit well with the display. It's weird but trust me.

    • @manuel12ox
      @manuel12ox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@itznever887 another handful of tips are to keep your apps updated the phone starts lagging when there's an update pending. Install Google files and let it scans for whatever junk files need to be deleted the phone physically feels lighter after it's crazy. Enable developer options and enabling both Force x4 MSAA and Disable HW Overlays it makes it so that the processors made for graphics are in fact used for graphics and the other ones a filter to make things look sharper. Enabling Graphic Drivers and setting every apps graphics drivers to system graphics rather than default. I also recommend setting the home screen so every app is on the homescreen and theres no app drawer. The last one I think is to restart your phone every few hours to let the processors reset and to enable the Force x4 MSAA/Disable HW Overlays again every time you turn it back on. It's a really good phone imo.

    • @manuel12ox
      @manuel12ox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@itznever887 another others tips are that a lot of things are turned on by default like NFC and Scanning for Nearby Device or something like that. You get edit your buttons order at the top and see what's on by setting them all on your notifications panel. You should also make a Samsung account and install Game Plugins. It's a set of apps to help you make your games run better and get information like fps and CPU/GPU/RAM usage. You can also go to settings then apps and set whatever app you want to use battery either unrestricted/optimized/restricted. I've personally set every app to use battery unrestricted which makes it perform better even though it probably doesn't last as longer but I can't notice I think it runs great.

    • @itznever887
      @itznever887 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the developer options but I recently got his phone so I dont know if the memory will go up if I exclude the apps. And I think I'll change some more later on if you phone gets lagyy .only one particular game that lags

The similarly priced $250-$350 Poco X4 Pro 5G has a 1080p 120hz AMOLED Screen, a fairly new Mid-Range SnapDragon 695 5G Processor, a Punch Hole Notch, Glass Back and Premium Construction, 108MP Camera Lens with an Ultra-Wide Lens, and a Unique Design.

      @@lordludicrous3781 I guess I'm skeptical because Samsung has been a mess in the budget and mid-range categories. Like for example, they stopped selling their popular Tab S6 Lite when there was no Tablet to replace it, and they offered an Ultra-Wide Camera on the 4G A13 but not the more expensive 5G A13. Not to mention using the same Exynos Processor in both their $300+ A33 and $450 A53, which means that the A53 is not a good value since it has the same Chipset as the A33 but is more expensive.

      Also consider the A15 or A05s. My A13 is holding up strong in terms of battery life but it has slowed down a bit. A14 will give you an extra year of software updates and security patches.

    I got recently A13, and while its nice phone, lack of charger is problematic. It came with cabel that have two C port usbs, but no standard USB, that was bummer because my old phone Redmi Note 7 had normal cabel that had one C-usb port and one standard usb and of course came with charger. So in order to charge the phone, i got to invest additionaly and to get a universal C-usb charger (nope i dont inted to get original samsung one), but since its on wrranty i would probably return it and get Redmi Note 11 instead.

    Got mine from Spectrum. Pure rubbish. They don't know how to fix it because they're incompetent. Samsung expects me to drive 20 miles across a metropolitan area to have it diagnosed. Doesn't work on T-Mobile, either. Wifi disconnects. 4G and 5G won't connect with -60dbm signal. Had it 30 days. Not the most expensive doorstop ever, but close.

    Great review. I need your opinion or anyone's opinion. I currently have an A20. But I need to get a new phone. I'm going to buy used( or in the case of this pre-owned) . So I could get this with a Tab A 8" tablet for $430 CAD, an S20FE for $400 or an A52(8 GB RAM 128 GB storage) for $370. I'm torn between the 3 even though there is also the option of an A32 in that price range or lower. There are some options I believe for this device in the 200 range along with the A32. I've never owned a flagship other than an S7 that was old when I had it. Anyway....what are your thoughts? I'm going back and forth. The bundle deal of this device and the tablet has me favoring that. I know any if these devices is quite a step up from my A20. I'm not a huge mobile gamer, don't take as many photos as I would like and like most, I use for most everyday things. Storage is very important, battery life, camera is as I would like to take good photos when I have the opportunity and something that is faster and can handle multi-tasking way better than my A20 . Sorry for the long paragraph.
