Your videos always make me feel a lot wiser. Yesterday my teacher talked about this for hours, but I didn't understand that much. But now I do! Thank you! :)
After watching your video on exponential growth, to this. I want to thank you. i loved the way you explained this. it really helped me with my ecology course. thank you so much :)
thank you so much, I'm actually doing my AP bio summer hw right now (ch 51-55 on campbell AP bio) and I didnt really understand the logistic growth model on the book but thanks to you it got so much easier.
How does a growth rate of 1 make 4 rabbits become 8? 1:25 I'm thinking 1x4=4, or is it more growth rate duplicates the existing set/population? So if a growth rate was 2 it would be 12 rabbits? Brain fried but enjoying learning more from YT than my university lecturer!
Not math savvy here at all, and my mind is still frying over this formula... No matter how many different ways I hear it explained, I'm still confused...
I don't get why you say the R selected species your example frogs are going to over populated and die from using up all resources. Isn't it the R species have little parent supervision there for the offspring have to raise themselves and they will die from predators while the k species are protected and taught survival skills. Also what about all the other factors that would limit growth like genetic and parasitic diseases and even change in diet is that taken into account for logistic growth?
I am in class 12 CBSE India, all the equations in our bio book are same except the value of r! its given that r=(b-d) where b is the no. of births and d is the no. of deaths. Also if if we put the value of r as said by u sir (b-d)/N in the exponential equation wouldn't the N cancel out?
r=(b-d) gives the increase in population in number of individuals, whereas r=(b-d)/N gives a proportional change (if you multiply that value by 100, you have a percentage). I hope maybe this alleviates some of your confusion :)
Well Mr.Anderson, here I am, watching your videos on Exponential and Logistic Growth, while drinking coffee... Test tomorrow, and this was the one thing I didnt get in ecology D: Thank you very much, cleared it up for me quite a bit :D (Lol going to watch these again tomorrow at 5 in the morning just to be sure xD)
I wish I could transfer my lecturer's salary to his account
Agree this guy is amazing
I learned almost nothing from class on this particular topic. However, this 10:55 video is so helpful.
No problem. Best of luck on the exam. Only three weeks to go.

Great to get lessons like this. Even useful for a third year university student!
Your a very good teacher because you carry us through each logical step, seemingly without making too many assumptions about your audience.
thanks

Lol, 17 and living at home, thats normal and I've heard of people being ALLOWED to move out before 18!
I’m glad one of them used Minecraft for science.
Bruh those minecraft kids are GOATED
I feel so smart after seeing the Exponential video and this one XD
Thanks for investing the time to touch us, o ignorant bio students haha
*INDIA* 💪
Thanks! - I have my Biology Exam tommorrow, wish me luck!
Fuck wenger
How did it go?
You are so helpful. I'm in a College Math class and watching your tutorial about Logistic Growth helps me to understand it and reinforce it so much!
...and I heard my fan come on my computer because its really taxing on the screen...
I still dont get it... what was the logistic per capita growth ?
I freaked out when he started talking about Minecraft
Your videos always make me feel a lot wiser. Yesterday my teacher talked about this for hours, but I didn't understand that much. But now I do! Thank you! :)
you've no idea how many times your videos have saved my ass!
Simplicity is the highest form of complexity. You reach that simplicity level prof.
University lecturers and professors wish they could be as good at explaining things as Mr. Andersen.
University?! I’m doing this stuff in my freshman year of high school 😀😒
@@aimbot.mobile7009 best of luck to you then
Elephants live to be 90 if they're not hunted to extinction for their ivory.

Didn’t expect minecraft to show up
Paul Anderson, you rock! Awesome knowledge about how these things work. Seriously, thank you for getting into education.
So how can we find dN/dt for x time without having to keep adding the previous dN/dt?
This is one of the best online lecture i have had...and the sound quality with a perfect pause makes it a song to the ear...P:S. use headphones
thank you so much, I'm actually doing my AP bio summer hw right now (ch 51-55 on campbell AP bio) and I didnt really understand the logistic growth model on the book but thanks to you it got so much easier.
MRW (my reaction when) there are too many rabbits on the screen, and it is taxing for the computer.
hi, thanks for a great explanation! if you can explain why the grass population is lower than the rabbit population at the model?

a growth rate of 1 means 100%. So basically it would be 4 +4=8
Khan Academy thumbnail for this video is cuter
Ethan and David are really smart kids
Taking the ap tomorrow, this helped.
Why logistic growth takes place in wild?
Thanks for all the videos! I'm in the UK doing a biology course before my degree and they have helped a lot.

Question: What if you don't have K, how would you find it?
Great vid! Missed my lecture today and this really got me back on track!
That Minecraft model is so unbelievably creative and cool it blows my mind.
thanks for the video
Can you do this backwoods . Like what is the least amount needed to have population growth because 2.1 is blow the point of no return.
Thank you!!! I'm also doing ap bio and I didn't get it until now. You're a life saver!!! :D
I know a kase where K is deklining rapidly and the species is likely to krash before reaching a karrying kapacity.
Isn't "r" a growth FACTOR rather than a rate? dN/dt would be the rate, correct?
I just wanted to say you are like the greatest professor I have ever watched for bio. Life saving!
Thank you!! This is great prep for the upcoming ap exam :)
What is the difference between Leslie and Logistic model of population?
Spent many hours on this reading text and didn't get it, but now I do. Thank you!
which program you are using for the animation for
logistic curve
i am so proud of these kids for using Minecraft for an experiment.
awesome thanks so much!
Excellent explanation!!! Thank you so much sir.
So how can we find dN/dt for x time without having to keep adding the previous dN/dt?
I had 3 2h lectures that couldn't explain K and r that well.
I don't get why you say the R selected species your example frogs are going to over populated and die from using up all resources.

small nit...(excellent work btw)....the (K-N/K) in your column heading should be
((K-N)/K)
please be my teacher you explain everything so much easier
Well explained I am now ready to go .
Thank you

You are the greatest teacher ever my man i finally understand it
Really helpful
On the AP Biology equation sheet, it uses r max. Is there a difference between r and r max?
