    Yo! Thanks for watching my review on the Yokkao Matrix Muay Thai Shin Guards. Lemme know who you think provides the best muay thai gear!

    I just received my new pair of yokkao shin guards today, feel so nice, been using the hayabusa t3’s for couple years now, and the difference in padding and stability is crazy. Hayabusa a are so much thinner compared to Yokkaos. No more bruised shins from sparring anymore. Thanks for the review

      How are you guys finding the matrix vs others, I started with the fairtex sp5 and then to in fight style guards. I actually felt maybe the fairtex had better protection which is funny because that was early in my journey. It could also possibly be I kick harder now so sometimes if someone checks well it can slightly hurt. I'm still skeptical of the infightstye ones. Have used them solid 9 months.
      Thinking of the matrix since they got awesome colours!

    Very easy to make them on your own for super cheap and save thousands of dollars if you have large gym/studio.
    But I will say that Yakkao makes good training gear. Only problem is their website and ordering process is not the best unless it improved recently.
    If you are training boxing, do not overuse shin guards! If you do, you will not properly train shins and you might as well go train something else like kickboxing, ballet or no touch Yellow Bamboo martial art. Cannot stress that enough. No overuse shin guards.

      Thanks man! For all the social media presence of YOKKAO, I'm surprised that people don't put up more vids. I don't own top king ones, but some members of my gym do and they seem to like them. tbh I don't expect yokkao ones to be that much better, but I got them anyways cause I'm a fanboy and people generally compliment me on them (which makes me happy).

    Thanks for this video man.
    So you've never had any issues with the fitting / size (M) ? I was worried M might be too big.
    Also, have you tried out their Ankle Supports and Wrist wraps?

      I haven’t gotten their ankle support yet, but I do have 2 of their wraps. I love them actually and if you hang them after every practice, they’ll be good to go. I actually have a review up on my channel if you wanna check it out!

    Hey Izzy, thanks for this review. I am around 5'7, 155lbs (70kg), and I purchased this in small size after reading that it fits large. The length is fine (maybe even slightly long for my liking), but I found that the shin part near the knee does not fit my leg for some reason. My shins seem to be too big to fit inside the small and narrow shin compartment. I was wondering whether you had the same problem, and if that area expands naturally?

    • @izzyr__
      @izzyr__  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mmmm this isn’t a problem for me. I would reach out to yokkao to ask how to get your knee in there. I think I got mine in medium as a 5’5” guy. Hope you can get it sorted out. Keep me updated!

  • @markreid2877

    Thank you for the review. I'm 5" 5 also. (68) kgs. I've 2 pair's of Yokkao shin pads, both are Medium. Found them quite stiff and heavy to begin with, but once I used them a couple of times, they're much more comfortable. Only thing is the top strap is up to the crease in the back of my knees. It doesn't prevent me from bending my knees for checking or anything. Being 5"5 as well, do you ever find the top strap going into the crease of your knees when you're bending your knee or checking kicks??

    • @izzyr__
      @izzyr__  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No it doesn’t get in there often. I find them to be very comfortable actually. I just don’t like how they shift sometimes, but I feel all shin guards do that.

    • @izzyr__

      Yo! My knee to ankle measurement is 15 inches so medium works for me. If your measurement is larger (sounds like it would be), then large is probably your best bet. What did the sizing chart recommend? I would follow that because they’ve sold so much gear in the last 5 years without changing it, so they must be accurate. I have the combat corner, and they do look similar but there is very few differences in the foot part. I think and is just my opinion by looks because I have never hold the yokkao shin guards, but looks like the combat corner provides better protection in the foot area. I have thicc calves (ahem, quarantine) and the medium just arrived to my door... they fit my height (I'm 5'3") ok... but they are SO firm... it's like I want to be nestled in a larger size but shorten the length by like an inch. Any thoughts or advice?

    • @izzyr__
      @izzyr__  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also have thicc thighs haha.
      In terms of firmness do you mean that they don’t flex when you try to velcro the straps on and it causes it to be a bit tight? I’d say that for this style of shin guard, they provide the max level of protection when you kick and so are more firm. As you go more flexible in material, the more you’ll feel the other person’s kicks. At the lowest level of protection, I think there are shin guards that slip on more like socks. I do remember them feeling clunky at first, but after using them, I may have gotten used to it or they could have broken in a little. Maybe slip them on and kick the heavy bag or pads for a bit. They may loosen up. Lemme know how they go!

    • @cuevasheather
      @cuevasheather 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      They dont cradle my shins. I can velcro them but there is this awkward space between the guard and my shin when they are strapped. It's as if I need something wider. I'm afraid to go larger due to length. I wonder if I should seek out another brand? But they match my gloves too 😩

      Do you feel your shin guards are too big? I got a medium, based off the size chart, but overall they felt too big. In relation to my question about the foot strap, it seems so weird to me that they would design the foot strap to go over the ball of the foot when that’s a point of contact to the ground and instead could have it cover the arch area of the foot.
