  • Should you build a stockpile? I think everyone should have a stockpile - but probably not for the reasons you think! I am not preparing for the end of the world to come, but here are 6 reasons to build a stockpile. #stockpile #prepper #prepperpantry

    I've always been mindful to keep a stocked pantry, but COVID lockdowns cemented that for me. When I was sick and couldn't leave my home, having everything I needed kept me from worrying about how I'd stay fed.

      I completely agree! Even though inflation is still frustrating, it is easier to handle when you know you have food on the shelves - bought at good prices! 👍

    I raised five kids. There were a lot of sports and activities so I only shopped every two weeks. I learned early on to have a “grocery store” so I didn’t have to run to the local grocery store which is very expensive. Nearest WM or grocery store is 20 minutes away. Now my stockpile is even bigger as we’ve added four spouses, and another next month, and 13 grandchildren (ages 9-1/2 to 3 months). I’m beating inflation to feed my growing family at our get togethers!! 🥰

    All great reasons! My biggest reason outside of the practicality is nostalgia. Both of my Grandmothers would be proud of the food storage (stockpile) that I have for my family of 6. As Depression Era ladies they both instilled a need to never “do without” and they live on in me daily. ❤❤❤

    • @joyfullythriving
      @joyfullythriving  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, yes, and yes! I am ready to stop calling it a stockpile and call it a stocked pantry - just like our Grandmas did. It was SO common sense then, and I am thankful for ladies like you who see the value in making these "old fashioned values" relevant again. What a great legacy to continue! ♥

    My vote is you're SMART!! 😊 I love this video!!!! It's exactly how I keep name stockpile too!! I don't think it's hoarding at all. To me, hoarding would be just buying things because they're on sale even if you don't use them much, and then letting them expire and having to throw them away. That's not at all what you do 😊 We also share the same Christian values ❤ God Bkess you and your family 🙏

    • @joyfullythriving
      @joyfullythriving  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the Christian element is overlooked too often which is why I think it's important to think of the stewardship aspect. I don't stockpile out of fear but faith. I have faith God provides, and I know He expects me to provide for my family too. Thankful to meet other Christian moms who feel the same way! 🥰

    I stock up on things at the lowest prices and then I have enough to plan meals for the next month and continue stocking up on things that are just on the best deal. It has saved my family tons of money and given us all the food we need for the month. I always think it is good to be prepared for anything because we can serve a meal to others without having to run to the store or bring food to a pot luck without any notice. I cook and bake to create more food instead of shopping. Love and agree with all your reasons.

    I just found your channel and subscribed. Love your content and how you present it! It’s just me at home these days and I am on a fixed income. I’ve always had extra in my pantry, even when my kids were little. I seldom ran out of things. 3 years ago, I started slowly building a true stockpile. I also stockpile my personal care and cleaning items. At this point I have close to a year’s worth of canned food put back. I’m trying to stay at $100 or less a month for groceries, and if it’s not on sale I don’t buy it. I bought a bread maker and bread flour so I can start making my own bread. One of my neighbors is working hard but struggling. I’ve been able to help her with groceries a couple of times over the last year. I’m blessed in return simply by being able to help her. I’m looking forward to seeing your next video!

    I think my 2 primary reasons are to save money by buying things I use regularly when they hit their lowest price and to avoid shopping at all if I can in the winter months when I hate to drive in the snow and our many storms. Plus the size of a "stock pile" will vary greatly depending on so many factors like size of family, access to nearby stores, and space for storage. With a family of 6 you would need to have more on hand than I would to last the same amount of time. I thinking the word hoarding is applicable if you are denying access to resources for other people or that you accumulate far more than you can use before things will go bad orr things you will never use. Your pantry has never appear excessive to me given the fact that you have children and store up the things they and you eat.

    • @noreenp.9858
      @noreenp.9858 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I am with you. I really do NOT like driving in the winter when roads are iffy. My shopping goes down in the cold months as a result, too. And like you said, everyone's stockpile SHOULD vary based on their family size. My pantry looks generous to singles but probably downright puny to a family with 10 kids! 😂 It's all a matter of perspective, and why we have to keep customizing to our circumstances.

    That dress looks great on you. Your basement stockpile is awesome. I have watched those videos many times. I live in a small house without a garage, without a basement, without an attic, without a pantry so I stockpile under beds. Thank you so much for mentioning about the Proverbs woman & stockpiling. Some friends & even relatives have criticized me for stockpiling, saying i wasn’t a Christian & no need to stockpile that God would supply our needs. Thank you.

      Thanks, Shelby! As for being a Christian, I really think the reasoning is important. If we do it out of faith, rather than fear, and because we want to be good stewards - then that is exactly what we SHOULD be doing, in my opinion. We don't sit around expecting God to drop our dinner on the table every night. Yes, God will provide for us - but I also believe He expects us to take care of our ourselves, children and families. That is good stewardship. So keep doing what you are doing! I understand what and why you are stockpiling! ♥
