**CW for a philosophical mention of death**
When you think about it, our attention span gives us the key to make literally anything interesting. Whether it be a class that seems boring at the surface, or some album with a song that seems like a lower point, or some dead TV show no one talks about anymore, or a family reunion you feel disconnected to, or even your own life & death, when you don't have much else on your mind, and you throw yourself into a situation, noticing absolutely everything about it with your undivided attention, you become way less caught up in asking for more. You don't ask for a different song, you don't ask for another class, you don't ask for another season, you don't ask for different people, and you don't ask for immortality. You remain content where you are, making every situation work, being happy with what you have instead of resentful for what you don't. That constant appetite for bigger & better is replaced by a deep, somatic satisfaction.

Well Amy, to fix attention spam and focus more and also do the hard things more easily, people can try dopamine detox. Dopamine detox is a very effective way to focus. And instead of trying to focus for 5 hours the day you started try to increase your focus everyday (compound effect) I would love to see you post about some very effective books like deep work, focus, ect. 📖📕💀

I'm so glad I came across this video and discovered your channel and podcast in the process!! I was actually slacking in class today and thinking about classical music instead of focusing, but the points that you've mentioned in the video make SO much sense and I can actually see myself using those tips to fix my attention span :)). Especially closing all my dynamic tabs, keeping discipline with my new and improved no phone zones and being curious about things around me. I find that the last one REALLY resonates with me, I see people everywhere (including myself😭😭) using our phones whenever we get the chance... but keeping ourselves preoccupied with curiosity instead of whatever monstrosity is on our phones, is definitely one of the things I agree most to. Thank you so much for this!!! :)

i would try my best to apply "no phone zones", "i will do it later" and if possible "consume to absorb" habits in my daily life for a week. i swear this video was so great as it gave some real solutions, it was as if Amy was talking to me with how she actually guessed what i was about to do. i felt validated and listened in this video, while also calling out the problems. i literally feel that i have adhd but belonging to an asian household where these things are only going to be used to taunt the person. i was scared to openly accept this, thanks for this video it made me feel that i can actually fight this thing without anyone's help that seemed impossible for me. every rule was if made for me to improve and have a great life and get my dream college and live with full potential. Hi Amy,
I want to thank you for your content! I found your videos a week ago during a low point in my studies. The pressure of the workload was overwhelming, and I started making excuses to avoid it. Your videos about "stop watching study videos" and your personal stories on your second channel really resonated with me. They reminded me of my teenage years when I worked hard to get into university with full funding, and I did it! Back then, studying was my top priority. My parents are Asian and sacrificed a lot to get me where I am now. Living in Asia is hard without funding, and no one would have paid for my university otherwise.
Over the years, studying became difficult, and I started thinking that maybe something was wrong with me because I didn't enjoy it anymore. Thank you for helping me bring back my mindset and reminding me of what I've accomplished ❤❤❤
As for the video, I definitely use the tips ❤

But still, if I had to choose at least for me, would be my college graduation. By that moment, I'll make sure that my attention span is really good. And thanks to this video!! Now we know how. Thank you so much. You are truly a gem in this community, Amy. You probably have realised that by know. I honestly really appreciate this video ! Recently, I've been getting indulged in so much short-form content that it's eaten my attention span. At first, I didn't have TikTok and I didn't enjoy short-form content as a whole. I think that, it was my friends who tempted me to download these apps. I don't really have the fear of "missing out" because what am I missing out on? Brainrot and stupid slang terms that make my vocabulary worst??
I hate the fact that my attention span has gotten shorter. I try my best to focus but in the end I get dragged in these stupid short form videos. I will try to be better after watching this video!
Although I'm still young, (13-14 years old) I have learned so many things at such a young age and it's honestly really disturbing. Things I shouldn't know at that age. I think that's what exposure to these apps and to everything that just distracts you, can do to you
One thing I don't wanna miss out on is my teenage years. I don't want to waste them behind a screen, just to grow up and sulk about not having a good teenage life. That's definitely something I'd like to not miss out on.
I want to be present when doing small tasks. Without having to put on music or daydreaming just to avoid it. These small tasks become so much better when you're fully present in them.
I will work on myself, especially after finding your channel, i've loved every second of it! Thank you for your work. ♡︎♡︎♡︎♡︎

For example, when I decide to do something, I keep my phone in another room to avoid distractions. I also postpone talking to my friends until after I finish my studies. Hey Amy,
I just executed this method "I'll do it after [x]". My problem: While working, I used to get distracted with my own thoughts or less important work which used to get into my mind. So, Instead of procrastinating my important work, this time, I procrastinated my thoughts by writing it down on blank paper. The moment I did so, my brain became empty and was able to focus on my current task efficiently.
Thanx Amy for your valuable video. It's literally working. Love from India ❤You are osm.
A request: Can you make a video on communication skill - How to speak clearly and articulately?

After watching this video, I want to commit to no phone zones and long form content. I love listening to long youtube videos or a good book it just feels like i never have time to watch through all of it in a day which is why I have a bad habit of skimming through the video and as result not absorb as much like you said in the video. But I am in control of my reactions so that means theres no actual need to skim the video. And because phones are so portable, you can bring them everywhere, it really does stop you from being in the present. Thank you Amy, i will definitely be listening your podcast to level up my listening skills for lessons in class this school holidays ❤💕💕

I just understood how worse I became through the years . I was not able to wait ... And when u told about the short videos and long content things... I understood... I am addicted to watch the shorter videos for hours and hours together and that actually changed my focus soo much . I actually sorted out the most crucial mistake . Thank you soo much . I was a 90% or more student just not long ago 2 yrs back and now I am not able to motivate myself to even study . Things have really gotten down . I was depressed maybe I would say . I feel like I don't want to do anything. Now i think I should end that state of mine and start again . I am going to do well again for my university entrance . The situation in my country has become worse. I was enthusiastic till the results and when I got to know the result that was a horrific thing. I guess I should be back on track . I should prevent myself from hurting further more and increase my attention and concentration ❤ thanks a lot Sissy... ❤❤❤❤❤

Hello, so before even watching this video I was already building most of these habits, like reading a book, using the bathroom with a phone, etc etc. and some I’ve had like when on road trips I usually play music and star out the window and or I would read a book and occasionally look up at the window and zone out or daydream lol. I am introverted but I do want to improve my hold habits like, reading more and being more observant in my reality than my phone. I do keep struggling with keeping consistency but like you said in the video to basically take it like baby steps on thing at a time and I will take that and put in my practice, Thank you for making this video!!

I think, this is a safe space to spill out something I've been struggling lately. Recently, I'm cutting out social media, thinking that it cooked my brain and slowly shortens my focus. I keep on going back and doing the same thing everyday and I always say "I'll restart tomorrow". whenever the new day comes, nothing's new. I've been craving for change but I can't pull out the proper discipline. I opened youtube and saw this video of yours. I felt attacked girlllll and I'm happy that you called out all of my (let's say wrong process), I'm really happy to learn, these steps. I'm gonna try these slowly and intensive. God bless youuuu

Though this may not have been one of your tip for like the last few videos, I write notes, just like you would for school, i especially do this as I know that out of all of school subjects I'm not as good at English and if you'd be able to make tips for English class/ AP English and note taking that'd be helpful
I also noticed that when I was watching the video usually I just listen but I actually decided to fully watch and pay attention (with my eyes) as well, yet I went crossed eye so I'll have to work on that.

I just got done reading a book on how to read books. Interestingly enough it recommended listening to podcasts! The purpose is to increase my lexicon (my little library of vocabulary words in my head). The more words you know, the less bumpy the road is to learning, I.e., lectures, reading, etc.! I look forward to checking out your podcast :)
