I've been using GenErase for a few days and I have found that it is sometimes necessary to repeat the masking and erase process 2 or 3 times to get the intended result. In your coffee cup example, it replaced the cup with a bowl. If you had repeated the process, it would eventually have given you a clear surface as you were looking to do. Likewise , where you had slight shadow artifacts after running erase, if you repeat the mask and erase , it will eventually remove them completely giving you a seemless effect that you wanted. Perseverance is required and it will also help if you remove individual objects one at a time rather than groups of objects.
Thanks for the tip. I did suspect that it would do better after a few tries or by changing the size of the brush. However generase was pretty slow on my end and didn't want to make the video too long. Neverthless it does work. Hope luminar makes genswap just as useful.
Watching the video, the software is impressive. On a second look, it actually does not erase the highlighted object, it replaces it with a stock photo patch. The first example with the lion is a give away. If the AI came up with the stone pattern by only analyzing the surrounding, than we are closer to I, Robot than I thought. It works in this case, since that lion has been photographed millions of time in ever angle possible. Not so much the paradise picture with the rocky island. The branch was replaced with another rocky island that does not even have the same geological structure. The best example is the glass on the table. Not erased but replaced with a bowl. The software title is misleading since it should be called Genareplaced. Properly great for vacation iPhone photos to remove other tourist in front the Lincoln memorial but definitely not your picture anymore.

To be fair, the only other editor which has this is Adobe Photoshop which actually did all these photos better replacing just the background without unnecessarily putting new objects as luminar too often does. That being said Generase is still better than any erase tool in my opinion. With regards to "not your photo anymore" that is the issue/problem with all these generative AI technologies-- practically anything can be manipulated, swapped or even moved artificially looking still very authentic. This is actually just the beginning unfortunately.
I don’t understand why they should release a working tool that is still raw. They are in a hurry and will only make people laugh. Luminar's AI performance is no good. Firefly works incomparably better. Imho.
Generase is ok but genswap certainly needs work. Yes Firefly is the best though magic studio was also pretty good. Not sure where luminar is getting their AI service maybe they should switch to magic studio.

Does this come with standard Luminar Neo or is it a paid plugin?
It comes when you subscribe to Luminar Neo. If you are a perpetual license holder you can get the extension pack.
Horrible results if you ask me.
