GOD BLESS IT, THIS IS PAINFUL to watch. Arsenio is likable enough but God, what an amateur. Why the heck were they even BOOKED on his show? If I were interviewing Elton John I'd spend about a month preparing for it and wouldn't make myself look like an ass. Ugh.
It seems strange that Arsenio is asking Elton and Bernie such uninformed, basic questions. He had them on the show in January '90, which seemed to go better and was actually funny. Seems Arsenio knows Elton is getting pissed and things just get more awkward.
This host - Arsenio Hall - is so annoying that I gave up trying to listen to what Bernie had to say; why does he have to keep sniggering at everything, what is the point?
I'm glad that Arsenio Hall had Elton and Bernie on the show. But, Arsenio, please don't talk over your guests when you're interviewing them. Arsenio is also a very ill-prepared interviewer. He often asks very cliche, tired questions.
What was the point of the interview? Anyone who hasn't lived in a cave knows how they met, how they write, Yada Yada yada.... why not ask questions about his rehab, how his life has changed, the sell-off of his costumes?
I think Arsenio got off on the wrong foot with Elton when he got into the "which comes first, the lyrics or music" topic that has already been discussed and documented ad nauseam before. It's at that point that Elton seems to get distracted and lose interest in the conversation. EJ/BT Fan Since 1974!
Marty Mitchell Elton fan since 1973 for me. It's so nice to see another honest Elton fan like me & not pseudo fans after they saw ROCKETMAN! Thank you, my Friend!
don't mean to sound ignorant ,but were they not in a romantic relationship as a couple also as well as song writing team, at least I always assumed, I must know.
Tough crowd. I thought Arsenio did fine. If Letterman or Leno interviewed Dr. Dre or Run DMC, that wouldn't be in their wheelhouse either. That doesn't mean they should throw their hands up and not do it.
Yeah, those might be tough interviews, totally dependent upon the guest and how well they jived with Letterman or Leno or whomever that wasn't into Hip Hop. Still, I think Leno would at least have some good questions and is smart and quick enough to roll with whatever came up.
Really...?? I thought Arsenio sucked.... we Americans; are so juvenile and crass about money. to be fair; I think the crowd was not too much into Elton or Bernie, either.
It's okay to put the shutters up occasionally. Being a public figure is not easy, believe me. My wall goes up everyday. It's a mechanism that protects me from what might happen. So, it's okay.
Peter Mensing, That is what I was going to say, too, about Arsinio Hall. What a disrespectful ass toward Elton (Sir Elton John). Arsenio flat out sucked during this interview and so many others.
Elton is Schubert and Bernie is Goethe. Genius, all 4 of them!
Name a more iconic duo than Bernie and Elton
Lennon and McCartney? 🤡 🤦♀️
Legends !!!....If bernie was gay they will be the perfect couple, but they are like brothers so i am happy they found eachother i love them and their songs.
おもしろかったでしたあ
They are adorable
11:42 "that man?" lol Elton is not feeling this
I only wish to have a free meeting with elton and bernie in Atlanta, up high on one's building. You 2, me and whoever I bring :) and time schedule must be flexible :)
Arsenio is an embarrassment! Totally out of his league! Elton & Bernie are LEGENDS always and forever!!!
Your comment is an embarrassment. Produce and promote your own talk show and see if you can outperform Arsenio.
It’s almost like you don’t know Elton is gay and was flirting with Arsenio.
@@MyOneFiftiethOfADollar I have always loved Arsenio but Linda’s right. What a terrible interview. I understand the black community, especially back then, was very uncomfortable with gay shit. He’s not interviewing gay dudes though, he’s interviewing legends and doing an absolute shit job. Fuck you.
This is the first time I've ever seen this. Arsenio is an absolute embarrassment.
There's a reason he didn't last!
Arsenio asks some stupid questions and I'm sure that is why Elton is getting pissy. He is not easy to interview and if you ask stupid questions he will let you know it.
Elton John gets pissy if you ask him how he's doing. That is first-hand experience. He's a genius, but he is a dick.
Elton’s attitudes are quite well known. who do you think The Bitch is Back is about?
@@tpowell453 Can you elaborate on your experiance?
Arsenio Hall is not a very good talk-show host.
+ConservativeAnthem - You know someone's a shit interviewer when they ask a "What's your favourite?" question.
LMAO! Maybe Arsenic-o overslept...
is that a Malcolm X hat on Arsenio ?
yes....that's when it was big...in style anyway
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH If not Arsenio then what's your favorite interviewer?
Bernie was so much better looking when he was younger.
Yea, he aged horribly the last decade!
@@paulmor2023 yeah now he looks like an east end gangster! Don't know why he shaved his head when he still has a full head of hair
this is too funny...but i love Elton, Bernie and Arsenio.
I can't even watch this...what a waste of 2 terrific guests.
Have to admit Arsenio had some epic interviews.
Was that Boynie Taupin he said?
Bernie Taupin.
bernie was a good ass lyricist
The highest paid singer in the world,Elton holds number one as the most singles sold for the tribute song to the late Lady Diana.Michael Jackson was a great artist as a singer but Elton is a great musician and singer..I'm not saying that Elton is better than Michael but go and search the facts and stop putting these two unbealiveable artist down, lets thank them for their music.Three of the best were, ET, MJ & EP.It's as simple as that...
I'm sure Elton can't dance or beat box like Michael. He also can't write lyrics like Michael. I love them both, they are both geniuses. I love Bernie too. He's a genius with words
Ugh.
The pain and tears are behind his smiles.
It seems strange that Arsenio is asking Elton and Bernie such uninformed, basic questions. He had them on the show in January '90, which seemed to go better and was actually funny. Seems Arsenio knows Elton is getting pissed and things just get more awkward.
+Quinn Miller I think has was a genuine fan of these guys
Arsenio was such a poor interviewer, just extremely painful to watch.
Good for you........
eh he did ok 👌
Yes he was.
Bullshit,he was great.
I like this style...Bernie and Elton seemed to be enjoying themselves and it was a pleasure to watch...
Bernie Bernie!
Your the man
YOU'RE!!!!!!!!!! 😬
YOU'RE!!!!!! 😬
Wow. Talk about a wasted golden opportunity. I don't think they often did joint interviews -- and that's how Arsenio used it?
Sure Hope Elton & Bernie see the TRIBUTE song I wrote for them
Hey, hey citizen Jane.....
My partner ! that today would signify they were courting !
Their speaking voices are very similar.
Watching this it is not surprising why AH just sort of faded away.
don't mean to sound ignorant ,but were they not in a romantic relationship as a couple also as well as song writing team, at least I always assumed, I must know.
No. I use to think the same thing but Bernie has always been straight
No. That is just stupid.
No Bernie is straight
It's funny how he is overcome with grief because of the passing of Freddie Mercury and Ryan White as he sings the last song for them
Yeah, and his lawn guy dies and he could give a shit less. Don't be a moron. This is TV.
EJ seems a bit miffed..........staring laser beams at the host - Oy
yessssss
Tough crowd. I thought Arsenio did fine. If Letterman or Leno interviewed Dr. Dre or Run DMC, that wouldn't be in their wheelhouse either. That doesn't mean they should throw their hands up and not do it.
brettwurst
I agree. You make good points.
Arsenio incites so many Awkward moments.
It's okay to put the shutters up occasionally. Being a public figure is not easy, believe me. My wall goes up everyday. It's a mechanism that protects me from what might happen. So, it's okay.
I've never heard of you.
And who are you exactly? I'm sorry
Elton John is one of the most successful musicians of all time but without Bernie he would have been nothing
The MOST successful!! And yes, you are right. He needs Bernie much like Michael needed Scottie.
Nobody has ever said the contrary so your remark is totally useless.
I doubt that.
Lino Vassallo Elton had said it! Now your remark is totally useless!!!
Little jeannie was not written by Taupin and was a hit as well as Blue Eyes etc . But credit must go to Taupin he is great
Peter Mensing,
That is what I was going to say, too, about Arsinio Hall. What a disrespectful ass toward Elton (Sir Elton John). I don't know what was going on there with Arsinio but it seemed like a personal vendetta of some type. It was rude and appalling to watch. It would have only happened once between them. I'm surprised Sir Elton John didn't just get up and walk out. He would nowadays. Thumbs down on Arsinio Hall and thumbs up on Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin.
Arsenio doesn't even know anything about these two. Pretty sad
True, and they knew this but were gracious enough to play along anyway.
