just ordered these on line, and caught a mole within 24 hours! Great video, although at first I found it very hard to set the traps without them going off and taking my fingers off!
That looks familiar! I think we have a small village of moles living in our front yard. Very annoying creatures! This sounds like something we should try. Best wishes from Tennessee.💕
I'll give you a tip. Cut the hole the correct length of the trap. Tamp the run bottom with a T shaped tamper eg like a spade handle. push pieces of soil and roots along edge of trap firmly so it doesn't move easily, then finally , sprinkle 1/2 inch of loose soil over the top. Works for me.
Hardly ever use these Duffuss traps ad they take too long to set it.digging out an area for a big trap like this, and to mush. room error.puts a good hour onto days trapping.
Thank you for the tip that might exp0lain why we did not catch many moles. Please can you explain what you mean by weather the traps, as we have a lot of moles this year and we are about to order some new mole traps as the old ones are very rusty
While it may work, you have to dig it up to see check it. I prefer the Victor Out Sight trap which you can see from the top if it's sprung. I don't dig though, preferring the find the run with your tent stake method and push it down over the top of the run. That way, it stays completely dark where the jaws are with no digging. I know they work even though these may too. Just got a big o'le nasty one three days ago.
That's because he covered it over with a sod which is wrong, it prevents the mechanism from springing upwards and hides it from sight. You block off any large holes around the trap and sprinkle light crumbled soil over it. That way when you come back you can tell whether it's been triggered or not.
YOU HAVE TO BEND THE CENTRAL WIRES AND CLIP THE EXTRA LENGTH OFF THE TRIGGER TO TWEAK IT SO'S THEY GO OFF WITH THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH... OTHERWISE YOU CATCH ZILCH.
@@lksf9820 I wear gloves but not to keep the scent off . I prefer Putagnes now for a lot of my work, but use Duffus, Scissor, and Talpexes too. I catch for 4 farms locally. The guy in the video is a novice.
No offence, but you've made mistakes, during this presentation, & I don't recommend ANYONE copy's your demonstration here ! (I'm a Professional traditional mole catcher, for 30 years, now)
Agree, I think he’s a domestic opportunist who thinks he can catch a mole. I’m also a professional mole Catcher. The hole was far too big and the trap is just going to wobble about. As for putting the turf back, we’ll that kill loop is not going to spring up in a thousand years! 😂

Shouldn't you weather the traps, before using.
Always yes 👍

Proper job 👏
Thank you 🙏
Does this trap harm the mole?
Absolutely,....& if he actually managed to catch one here (highly doubtful) , it would be an inhumane death !
Yes I'm afraid it does similar to a mouse trap

Thank you for the tips . We are not having much success catching them so will try your suggestions

The triggers not set correctly
Thanks for letting us know it's appreciated
Just out of interest do you ever set traps for rats?.
No not needed to luckily
Scent doesn't bother them mate.
It doesn't matter whether it does or not, put gloves on anyhow.
