@@goGothitaLOL The perfect example of a game with some wokeism that sold well because they focused on the gameplay rather than shoving a message in their customer's faces
I definitely agree with you. But big budgets are only a small issue along with many others that accumulate into the mess that we have of not only games, but entertainment as a whole. These big gaming companies have just become too big, that they just chuck money at anything and everything someone convinces the big wigs is a money making machine. Yet numbers say otherwise, and they still don't do anything about it, as profit is the most important thing when it comes to keeping a business alive, you'd think they would've done something before irreparable damage occurred. As @jkitty542 said, the gaming technology is reaching that point of the tail end of realistic graphics with less invasive means of achieving it. Believing that to be the most important thing, alongside going down the wrong path persuing less profitable, but highly costive models. Unqualified people as usual, given all the power to wield on projects simply because they say the right things and cosy up to those that hold even more power than them, and the cycle repeats. And I think probably the most talked about and devise issue, politics. As it is no secret a clear agenda is being pushed at the expense of these games' quality. And what do you get when the political message is deemed more important than the medium it is told through? Propaganda. Which I think ties in to the "unqualified who say the right thing getting the powerful jobs" aspect. So I personally would have to disagree agree with you slightly about some of these games not failing because they are "woke". As the politic landscape within these development companies bread the work environment that lead to these games being made in the first place. As they say, "Rome didn't fall in day" it had alot of helping hands over a long period of time. Loved the video, well edited and concise. Always enjoy hearing peoples takes on current affairs of their passions. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for leaving such a detailed comment. I understand what your saying about the political aspect of these games and even agree with the point about the agendas in some of these games. The main point I was making was more focused on the "big budget = big money" mentality that seems to be such a popular mantra amongst publishers these days. The reason why I said that these games aren't failing because they're woke is because the games I mentioned failed on a fundamental level with monotonous gameplay, bland open worlds and unispired loot/customization. It is possible for a game to be technologically sound with great gameplay and game design while being woke. The Last Of Us 2 being a perfect example. I think the story in that game is terrible with bad writing and a hyprocritical narrative that focuses more on politics than telling a good story. BUT that game is very fun to play and the gameplay, level design, sound design and environments are all top tier. The reason I focused on these big budget games is because they fail at being good games first and also have poor narratives. Hopefully that cleared up my opinion in the vid a bit more. I think we probably agree generally but in the vid I didn't really touch on this subject so I can understand you thinking otherwise. Thanks for watching!
@@BadTakeRisan I get exactly what you're saying now, thank you for the reply. Even as someone who didn't play the first game, (as I'm not a fan of zombie games) the last of us 2 even made me feel disappointed along with the fans. Waiting years for a sequel to such a beloved game that is an example of what the industry can be at their best; only for it to be a let down that brought out the worst in those that defended it and those that didn't, is such a shame. It really showed that even with such great gameplay just like the first as you said; they were on the right track to being as big as their predecessor, and even more so. Hopefully in an alternate universe, we got a better version. Thankfully the only part of the gaming industry that is "dying" is AAA. The indie scene has been flourishing, aswell as up-and-coming companies like those who made Black Myth Wukong, and well established folks such as From Software. If it wasn't obvious already with my essay comment! I'm quite passionate about games just like you, except you put hours of effort into making videos, and I just nod my head in agreement instead!
It's nice to see someone talk about the industries failures without bringing politics into the mix, even though my comment would tell you otherwise! Thanks again!
