    I plugged the chromecast to hdmi input on my harman kardon receiver, works amazing. I can cast all I want, even music from my samsung smartphone through Smart View.

    I connected my Chromecast to ARC Extractor and this extractor to Khadas Tone Board I (DAC). The sound is amazing due to DAC (Khadas) and Edifier 1280 speakers.

    Can I use this setup to stream the picture from the splitter back to the TV and simultaneously the audio to my stereo system?

    Pete, can you stream e.g spotify to stereo amplifier system even without any monitor attached. Handphone is used for navigating.
    Monitor is needed only at the begining setup. Pls reply.

      You can cast Spotify to a Chromecast, no problem so this should work. The only thing you can't do is set up a multi-room group.

    In bought a similar product and the audio quality was very poor. I assume it's because you cannot really expect the dac of the 6 dollar audio extractor to be any good

    • @xbmcnut
      @xbmcnut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure you're using one of the digital outputs if you can. The DAC inside this unit if you rely on analogue audio will be rubbish.

    Thanks for the video, I have some old 1st gen Chromecasts kicking around somewhere and have been looking to breathe new life into them. Question though - do you know if you are able to turn this into a whole home audio setup just like the original Chromecast audio?
    Meaning Can I group these in the google home app and say to the google assistant "Play Spotify on the living room group" and have multiple setups sync audio together ? Or say to the google assistant "Movie the audio to the bedroom group" Something like this ?
    Again thanks for the video

      @@xbmcnut Thanks I appreciate it ! I also did some research I think the whole home Audio may only work on Gen 2&3 chromecasts. Problem is there are plenty of videos showing a setup similar to yours with the HDMI audio extractor but none of them showing the multiroom audio. I can still buy Chromecast Audios here but given there are certain apps that wont cast to them and the fact they are obsolete now I am wondering if I should just buy some used gen 2 or 3 standard chromecasts instead. Anyway thanks for the reply - if you have a chance to test let me know how it goes !

    If I cast from Spotify to an ordinary chromecast, will the sound quality be affected after it passes through the splitter? (Considering that I want to use optical signal)

  • @MuslinTree
    @MuslinTree 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder how is audio extracted from HDMI? Since the splitter needs current I assume it's not as simple. Does anyone know?

      @@xbmcnutAfter seeing your video I have ordered all the necessary parts and it came out way cheaper than ordering a second-hand Chromecast Audio.
      The last one I have bought already costet 82€ on eBay like on most online marketplaces here in Germany.
      The solution like in this video has costet me only 27,84€. 👌🏼 (7,89€ HDMI Audio Splitter,
      15,50€ second-hand Chromecast 2nd Gen, 4,45€ AUX cable and two power adapters I had lying around)
      And using this solution in a Google Home speaker group works just flawlessly. You don't even have to adjust a delay.
      The only two things that prevent it from being the perfect replacement for a Chromecast Audio are the slight downgrade in bass and treble (which is only slightly noticeable on better speakers) and it doesn't have the ability to adjust the balance of treble and bass.
      So I will use this solution for a not so high-end speaker that doesn't suffer from the difference in audio quality too much but is mostly balanced and doesn't need an EQ as well.
      So it's nice being able to add another room to my multiroom soundsystem for relatively cheap. 👌🏼
