very nice and informative video. however you never mentioned or showed the back of your monitor if it has eARC or ARC function. I have and old TV that has ARC but only passes stereo from external sources eg apple tv, fire tv. I'm wondering if this will solve my issue. Thanks
I was so excited watching this video, but was crushed at the end to find out there is no simultaneous output for both 5.1 and analog outputs. Please, are there any extractors that do this??? Happy to explain my use case…
Just bought one for similar problem. Sony Bravia TV will shut off sound to eARC HDMI when headphone plugged in (for a "Zone B" for sound to another room while watching TV.) Can get headphone jack for zone B use AND fiber optic audio out from the Bravia, BUT FIBER OPTIC DOES NOT SUPPORT ATMOS. Ugh. No eARC HDMI splitters found on my searches split off analog and preserve eARC HDMI features. Heavy sigh. . . Only option is to shell out $2-3K for a multi-function receiver that has mastered the concept. OUCH. Will start to save my pennies.
THANK YOU SO MUCH Steve for reviewing this product with a lot of detail. I am able to get Dolby Atmos now on my soundbar. I have Roku 4K Ultra which I had earlier connected to my 4K Projector (that has Dolby Audio) and from Projector to my Soundbar thru HDMI ARC port but was not to able to get Dolby Atmos. Recently purchased the OREI eARC 4K extractor after watching this video. I have now connected Roku to the OREI extractor (HDMI Input port ) and from the Extractor to Projector (HDMI TV Output port) and from extractor to soundbar earc port. I have chosen 7.1 output and now I can see the Dolby Atmos as sound in Netflix/Prime under Movie titles and also can see Dolby Atmos being displayed on my Soundbar as well. It sounds really great now with Atmos. Same way it works when I connect to my laptop as well I think this might become a competitor to HD Fury Arcana which is priced currently at $249/$299. Thanks again.
The audio extractor is cool... But .. what is the use case for this? As Steve says in 8:35, you need to hook up to a 7.1 AVR, but the 7.1 AVR already supports 7.1 over HDMI, or if you like to use dolby atmos the old 7.1 AVR can receive the data but only skips the atmos metadata, the apple tv is tricked to send atmos but the data is discarded. And if you have and dolby atmos avr to decode the signal, you don't need the audio extractor. What is the edge use case for this product?
Is this still the latest box to buy or is there a newer box with atmos upmix support to mimmic height channels? (I've got panasonic soundslayer soundbar with no upfiring speakers but supports dolby atmos & dts:x) actually it doesn't have earc return only arc so I will never get uncompressed audio regardless with this type of box ? Also only you might know this, if a show only supports 5.1, is my atmos soundbar backwards compatible with 5.1 (dolby digital plus) or would it only play in stereo if the show doesn't support atmos and this box doesn't do the trick either ? Is dolby atmos = 7.1 ch and Dolby digital plus/surround/logic whatever you wanna call it = 5.1ch?
Can this Audio extractor support the following on a TV that supports Arc: -1. Turn off and on with the TV (while retaining settings) -2. HDMI-CEC between sources hooked up to the extractor & the TV hooked up to the extractor (ie. control sources from the TV) -3. Extract/transcode classic Dolby Digital (AC3) audio from a Dolby Digital Plus (EAC3) audio stream & output that extracted classic Dolby Digital (AC3) audio over spdif I ask cause I have two extractor switches from different makers & one of them does #2 but not the others while the other extractor switch does #3 but not the others & i really want one that does atleast #2 & #3

As of this writing, there are 2 reviews on Amazon for this device that say the device isn't actually recognized by their TVs as being a valid eARC device -- just ARC. One of these reviews is from a guy with a professional signal generator. The reviews state that the soundbar, etc. that's connected to the "Soundbar eARC" port is only getting an ARC signal, not the high-bandwidth eARC that the device should be sending. Do you have the equipment (e.g., a soundbar that accepts eARC) to look into this? Thanks for the review!
The sound bar on the video is eARC. Because you have testers doesn’t mean you know what you’re doing. If you need it try it, Amazon has a great policy for unhappy people
Sir, have you try this with your PS5? Do you think this will force Netflix movies with Dolby Atmos to work on the PS5? Steve! I have 3 TVs with HDMI ARC and a soundbar with HDMI ARC. I want to be able to switch the AUDIO between the 3 tvs to the soundbar. It's for football season. We have a mancave with 3 tvs. Usually, we have 1 tv audio on at a time and my husband mutes other tvs, then switches audio between tvs depending on what game he wants to hear. What device switcher could we buy that can do this?
It’s really complicated in that scenario, you would need more of a optical switch and hook up the TVs that way and optical out to the soundbar, HDMI ARC creates a handshake so you are limited plus it more like where is the signal coming from to play football. I would pay an installer because this information needs to be explained to a pro that’s looking at all your equipment.

Could I use this HDMI Audio Extractor so that I'd get the same sound through the soundbar and the ceiling speakers at the same time? Or should I be looking for something else? Thanks!
@@TechSteve Thank you for the reply! We already had the tv and sound bar before moving to this home. So I was just trying to see if there was an easier (cheaper?) workaround than getting a new audio receiver and a set of speakers. My current setup is... a belkin soundform connect to airplay my apple tv to the mini amp, which connects to the ceiling speakers. This mostly works ok since we mainly use the apple tv. I just wondered if there could be other solutions to utilize both the soundbar and ceiling speakers.
Have you tried it on a Nvida shield pro 2019 to a receiver to watch Dolby vision mkv I have to directly plug it to the tv to use earc not tcl took that away to play lossless audio it only plays 5.1 atmos instead of 7.1
Hi, just to clarify: if I connect the extractor at one end with hdmi arc to my tv arc input/ output and at the other side to an old surround receiver with the OPTICAL OUT ( not RCA, like you did!) , would it let me controle the sound of the receiver with my tv- remote? That would make sense since the extractor probably supports CEC. That would really mean I don’t have to through away my old receiver that doesn’t have hdmi inputs or CEC.
I bought the Orei 429 audio extractor and it says on the box that it works with Bose 900 soundbar. And I tried it and it doesn’t work. Are there any products that do work? Sole purpose is to listen to Dolby Atmos.
Hello i have a soundbar Samsung hw990b with Earc and a tv LG55EG910V 2016 with Arc but NOT earc Is it this good product to buy for to convert and have Atmos sound at my sound bar ? Thanks
I have one of these, I wanted to get sound out to my Node streamer. It worked for all of a few hours and quit working. Played around with it, never was able to get the unit to stay on for more than a second or two. It stopped passing sound, and then video, then just shuts itself down. It comes with a 5 volt power supply, so I swapped that out, nothing, unit was dead. Reading a few comments on this device, this is normal, call it a "feature". Mine is going back to Amazon.
So with this device, am I able to connect my Nintendo switch to extract audio from it and connect it directly to my Dolby Atmos sound bar. And still be able to get 7.1.2 channel. The sound bar that I use currently is Hisense U5120GW+
Hello TECH Steve. My Pioneer SC 35 AVR Supports ARC only 5.1 limited. My AVR does supports 7.1 DTS, Dolby Digital to name a few, 2011 AVR no ATMOS, 1080p Only what I am doing now. My XBOX ONE X is connected directly to my TV4k@120 Input. I am using ARC from the TV to the AVR ARC (5.1 only ARC limited). All sound is using my AVR ARC. What I want to do. Extract the XbOX HDMI Audio Before it goes to the tv and USE my AVR Audio Input to get 7.1. Still routing the 4k@120 to my tv
Hi, big question here seeing if this product or any product you know can help me. I have a Samsung tv that only has hdmi arc, no e-arc. I have a brand new Bose 900 sound bar that handles Atmos. I can’t get the soundbar to recognize Atmos. So I’m thinking it’s the tv that can’t handle it. Would this product be able to be in the middle and pass Atmos to my soundbar?
Hey Steve i am new to your channel. I am in a personal dilemma. i do PC gaming, and I fall under the apple eco system. Using this audio extractor, I am assuming I can connect this extractor with an Apple TV and play audio to a pair of Apple Home Pods (through airplay) while using a monitor that doesn’t support hdmi arc/earc. I am trying to play audio from my PC, and I don’t want to invest in a tv. This may sound too specific and if this is too confusing please disregard.
Great review would I still be able to pass Atmos to a sound bar threw the extractor even though my TV doesn't have Arc? it has HDMI inputs but none of them say arc
Will this system take an arc tv and convert to eARC to connect to a dolby Atmos home theatre? I currently have an arc tv and a sound system that uses eARC. Looking to take advantage of the Sony HT-A9 Dolby Atmos but requires eARC.
Hey Steve, great review. This looks like a great audio extractor. I have one question for you, when plug in a 3.5mm wired headset, are you able to adjust the audio volume for in the headset? As I have one other brand now, works great, but I cannot put the volume higher or lower on my headset when using the 3.5mm port on the Audio Extractor. So want to know if this works the same or not. Can you test it and let me know?
I think you can get one of those hdmi splitter that capable 4k hdr10 Dolby vision atmos and another hdmi mirror device that mirrors signal to 2 output and again capable of 4k hdr Dolby atmos vision etc. I have lg oled and an awol projector , this is how my setup is at moment .
Hi Steve, great channel man👍👍!!! I have a question, maybe you can help me. I made the connections as instructed: HDMI cable from my TV eArc to the TV eArc port of the HDA-931; then, another HDMI cable from my A/V processor Arc to the Amp Arc port of the HDA-931. Nothing happens, neither on the screen or in the sound system. I just loose sound completely. Would you please provide some assistance? Thank you.
quick question, I would like to connect 2 sound bars ( both have eARC ) to tv eARC. get the advantage of amplified sound , is it possible with this splitter/extractor Thank you
Steve! Always great content. My denon receiver doesn’t have earc but tv does.. can i plug Xbox into tv for 4k120 and then somehow pass uncompressed audio into my receiver?
What if I use an HDMI splitter where I connect a streaming device on the input and I use the other end, which has 2 outputs and one goes to the TV and the other goes to a Soundbar?
Steve, i have a Sony Muteki KM7 Receiver that has dolby digital, but not dolby atmos, my samsung tv s90c has dolby atmos, is it possible to play dolby atmos sound on my receiver using this product?
I also have a soundbar connected to my PC (a Sony). Although I did it a little different; I bought a audiocard from at least a decade back (was a real B. to find a new one though, because my other 2 or 3 modern ones didn't had those connections), and then I connected it to the soundbar and voila. It works. Although this little device above can be very helpful, with less Hussle then the solution I did, especially because my solution isn't available. Non of the shops sell a Creative Audiocard from more then a decade ago. Ebay if your lucky.
Exist this product with hdmi 2.1 version?, i need this same product with the same ports and funtionality with hdmi 2.1, or alternatives?, greetings from mexico
Hello Steve! I need your expertise and help. I have a Samsung TV Crystal Tisan model 55” with one usb port and two HDMI inputs, one is eArc which I’m using with a Sony soundbar. Please, can this device in the video output the 7.1 ch as 5.1.2 ch? I need the .2 height channels and trying to understand how it supports Dolby Atmos.

Hello, the channel and the information provided are very interesting. I wonder if this device allows me to extract super audio cds on an optical or coaxial cable connection from a Sony Blue Ray. Thank you
does it support QHD@144? in my case i have a laptop with only 1 HDMI and an HT onkyo in the normal way laptop->receiver->monitor its cap to FHD@120/QHD@60/4k@60
Correct me if I'm wrong here! I may in the future upgrade to a 4K projector, which supports HDMI 2.0 and eARC. The problem is my AV receiver is slightly old and only supports standard ARC and maxes out at HDMI 1.4. So routing the PS5 through the receiver, I'd only be able to get 1080p video, or if using the projector's HDMI ARC, I'd only be able to get 2 channel audio. 😕 If I'm not mistaken, this device should in theory allow me to get 4K video to the projector and LPCM 5.1 audio to the receiver?
so if I have a sound bar (5.1 surround) would I somehow be able to add two more speakers so that I can get Dolby Atmos setup? I'm hoping to run it through my Xbox series X or even just my tv
My TV has eARC functionality (Sony A80K) and it is connected to my AVR which only supports ARC (Denon AVR-E400). Can I use this extractor to allow me to get the higher quality of audio (Atmos, DTS-HD, etc...) sent down to my AVR that cannot go through normal ARC?
Hey Steve I've got earc tv and soundbar, atmos enabled devices and typically play on series x. All my devices show Atmos enabled and it sounds good. I was just wondering if this could improve input lag for sound. Atmos for gaming is horrendous and there is no way to reduce sound delay. Not sure where the processing delay is coming from.
Hi Steve, can I check with some setup as the video doesn't show detail setup. I have a laptop connecting to my gaming monitor thru type-C port. So i still have 1 HDMI port is free from using. At the same time I have Sonos Beam Gen 2 which only 1x eARC HDMI port on board. So will this work if i use my HDMI from laptop connect to this device and output to Sonos Beam Gen 2 eARC HDMI port? Cuz Laptop HDMI does not support ARC which it can't connect to the soundbar directly since it can't recognize. Thanks in advance
Hi Steve, will this push VRR and auto low latency from the series x including 1440 to my tv while sending Atmos to the receiver? I have an EZCOO that dose 4k@60 and 1080@120.

Look on offer up, people are almost giving them away
Steve does this hdmi audio extractor allow for 120hz in 4k,and does it also allow for Dolby atmos with a gaming headset.
trying to find that out, i dont think it does
Yeah same here. It looks like he glossed over this.
The volume can only be controlled with HDMI so the sound bar i used has HDMI eARC you can’t control sound with fiber or analog
Watch this as well th-cam.com/video/1KZKk6u1i6s/w-d-xo.html
I bought the Orei 429 audio extractor and it says on the box that it works with Bose 900 soundbar. And I tried it and it doesn’t work. Are there any products that do work? Sole purpose is to listen to Dolby Atmos.
Hello
i have a soundbar Samsung hw990b with Earc and a tv LG55EG910V 2016 with Arc but NOT earc
Is it this good product to buy for to convert and have Atmos sound at my sound bar ?
Mine is going back to Amazon.
when you used 2 speakers, the one speaker have a sound delay?
is this an optical output that i can connect my sonos soundbar, projector and firestick to?
I showed the product on the video including the ports
What about Apple TV + Homepods + External speakers possible?
So with this device, am I able to connect my Nintendo switch to extract audio from it and connect it directly to my Dolby Atmos sound bar. And still be able to get 7.1.2 channel. The sound bar that I use currently is Hisense U5120GW+
Can the analog audio output be used to send audio signal to Stereo or integrated amplifier and is the audio quality good through the aux output
I showed an example and the audio is good
Hello TECH Steve.
My Pioneer SC 35 AVR Supports ARC only 5.1 limited. My AVR does supports 7.1 DTS, Dolby Digital to name a few, 2011 AVR no ATMOS, 1080p Only
what I am doing now.
I showed demos but you need an external source like a 4k Apple TV
Will this pass through dolby vision as well then?
is this model on Amaxon been trying to find this idea ?...
I showed on the video
Will this system take an arc tv and convert to eARC to connect to a dolby Atmos home theatre? I currently have an arc tv and a sound system that uses eARC. Looking to take advantage of the Sony HT-A9 Dolby Atmos but requires eARC.
Kindly please how can I connect an hdmi eARC from my tv to TWO soundbars at the same time with only two hdmi out
Hey Steve, great review.
The 3.5mm isn’t for headphones unless they have a amp
@@TechSteve Ok clear. Then I will have to skip this. Thanks for your reply 👍
Finally! However, is it possible to find one with two Outputs? I want to connect my projector AND my TV with my SONOS devices with ARC.
It doesn’t support Sonos ARC only eARC and I don’t have a suggestion for you
I think you can get one of those hdmi splitter that capable 4k hdr10 Dolby vision atmos and another hdmi mirror device that mirrors signal to 2 output and again capable of 4k hdr Dolby atmos vision etc. I have lg oled and an awol projector , this is how my setup is at moment .
@@moo5248 Hmmm. Can you give me links/recs? Appreciate the feedback!
If you connect a ps5 with a 7.1 source, can you still run a stereo amplifier? Will down scale the 7.1 to a full stereo signal? Hope you can help
Thank you.
I only showed analog out hooked up this way, it’s designed to extract from external devices like shown in the video
@@TechSteve . Thanks
Can this device be used to forward the sound from the TV's eARC output to the Auido Input HDMI of a receiver?
You have to look at the examples in the video
Will this device let me get 5.1 Dolby Digital? (New LG TV using Arc HDMI through the Orei Optical out into my 2005 AV Receiver)
quick question, I would like to connect 2 sound bars ( both have eARC ) to tv eARC.
get the advantage of amplified sound , is it possible with this splitter/extractor
Thank you
Nope
Steve! Always great content. My denon receiver doesn’t have earc but tv does.. can i plug Xbox into tv for 4k120 and then somehow pass uncompressed audio into my receiver?
Nope this is 60Hz adapter that only transfers eARC
Hello is it possible to connect to the input of the device my Samsung tv and split the sound to 2 earc Dolby Atmos q990c sound bars
No, earc creates a hand shake between devices
What if I use an HDMI splitter where I connect a streaming device on the input and I use the other end, which has 2 outputs and one goes to the TV and the other goes to a Soundbar?
Steve, i have a Sony Muteki KM7 Receiver that has dolby digital, but not dolby atmos, my samsung tv s90c has dolby atmos, is it possible to play dolby atmos sound on my receiver using this product?
Nope
A great job of explaining how this audio extractor works , I Will be buying it ASAP thanks Steve .
This was exactly what I needed for my PC...but it's no longer available. 😢
Any alternative device that can be used instead? Thanks

Thanks Steve! 👍
I also seen the HDA-935, which has 3 inputs , compared to the 1 input on the HDA-931.
Good deal. Subscribed! ✌
I also have a roku box and a chromecast Google tv. I’m trying to use a HDMI switch to connect the two devices, but for some reason when I switch from roku to chromecast, the tv displays a message about the power missing connection. My HDMI cables are 2.0, but I’m still unknown why this happened. Any idea?
No idea
Bose soundbar 900.
I have only ARC on the Tv. But it shows me Dolby Atmos on the Dr. Strange Movie.
Do i get a better Dolby Atmos with the converter? Or do i need a TV with E-ARC?
Or is it good as it is, with just ARC on the Tv?
A new TV with E ARC because it’s 48gbps connection with HDMI 2.1 instead of 18Gbps with HDMI 2.0, this unlocks to full sound
Will it work with a projector n bose 900 bar ? Also connected to a fire stick too all together
Nose are tricky, haven’t tried
Did It convert DD+ (from Netflix) and send it via toslink to logitech Z906?
Please, can this device in the video output the 7.1 ch as 5.1.2 ch? I need the .2 height channels and trying to understand how it supports Dolby Atmos.
Nope
Steve, i bought new samsung 4k crystal. I downloaded movies that have DTS audio. When i play the movie the screen of the monitor says AUDIO UNSUPPORTED. But i have a denon receiver that can play dts format. I can’t make it work.
Download? Why not just stream it. Plus if you have a receiver you may have to bypass the hdmi outputs. Unfortunately it’s more complicated then you think
Hello Steve - thank you for this video. I just bought a SONOS Arc Atmos home theater system but have been struggling to get the best out of it. Looks like there are very few audio extractors in the market. I tried a HD Fury product ( Arcana?) , borrowed from a friend for a couple of days but its expensive. The one you have demoed looks like a good one but could you confirm if this will work Google TV as the input source? Thank you
did you get one and how did it work with the Sonos Arc?
Excellent stuff Steve
Do you think an additional powered subwoofer can be added using this device? I'm guessing there might be timing issues if it would work at all.
No, it’s not ment for subwoofer and if it did adjusting the volume would drive anyone insane
@@TechSteve I appreciate the response to such an old video.

Hello bro, if i connect orei HDA131 directly to Sony TV. Can i use amplifier and soundbar at the same time or any button to switch using either soundbar or amplifier
Thanks
Why would you do that? I haven’t tried
Hello, the channel and the information provided are very interesting. I wonder if this device allows me to extract super audio cds on an optical or coaxial cable connection from a Sony Blue Ray. Thank you
I doubt it, it’s designed for formats mentioned on video
does it support QHD@144?
in my case i have a laptop with only 1 HDMI
and an HT onkyo
in the normal way laptop->receiver->monitor its cap to FHD@120/QHD@60/4k@60
Correct me if I'm wrong here! I may in the future upgrade to a 4K projector, which supports HDMI 2.0 and eARC.
The problem is my AV receiver is slightly old and only supports standard ARC and maxes out at HDMI 1.4. So routing the PS5 through the receiver, I'd only be able to get 1080p video, or if using the projector's HDMI ARC, I'd only be able to get 2 channel audio. 😕
If I'm not mistaken, this device should in theory allow me to get 4K video to the projector and LPCM 5.1 audio to the receiver?
Sometimes you just have to buy and try, I haven’t test every scenario
so if I have a sound bar (5.1 surround) would I somehow be able to add two more speakers so that I can get Dolby Atmos setup? I'm hoping to run it through my Xbox series X or even just my tv
Nope
I love your content brother keep it up
Thanks Jay 👍🏽
My TV has eARC functionality (Sony A80K) and it is connected to my AVR which only supports ARC (Denon AVR-E400). Can I use this extractor to allow me to get the higher quality of audio (Atmos, DTS-HD, etc...) sent down to my AVR that cannot go through normal ARC?
No, you need to have all compatible equipment
Does with work with Bose Smart sound bar 600 (with eARC) ?
I don’t own one to test
So if I have a TV with just ARC, may I use the extractor to get Dolby Atmos true hd on the soundbar?
Only if you have a streaming device that supports Dolby Atmos. I showed examples on how to hook up, your TV is only needed for the picture
I don’t know anything that can do that
There is an audio option on my LG C1 that let you match or delay the sound and it works for me
Sir, can i fix this audio extractor in projector and a dolby atmos sound bar?
Hope I will get reply soon. Thank you sir for the informative video.❤
I showed examples on how it works as long if it’s a scenario I used
I just wish this had multiple (2 - 4) HDMI sources you can plug in at once…
This may work th-cam.com/video/MEszTEwT8gE/w-d-xo.html
Are you still using it with the computer? If so is it reliable?
Does the hdmi have to be high-speed in order for it to work? I've plugged everything in correctly and no audio is being produced.
I don’t have a sonos but I heard that they aren’t compatible with some adapters
@techsteve will this work on my soundbar 7.1.4 dolby atmos soundbar samsung hw-n950
Hi Steve, will this push VRR and auto low latency from the series x including 1440 to my tv while sending Atmos to the receiver? I have an EZCOO that dose 4k@60 and 1080@120.
I’ll have to test it more when I get time, i was focusing on the audio
@@TechSteve Thanks man, looking forward to the results!!
I don’t have time and probably want remember, you can remind me in about a week. It’s back in the box and in storage
