Right there with you on the Mini GT IMSA cars. I mean the hot wheels versions are cool...but the car shines with all the proper sponsorship and other deco. So well done. I went to a lot of IMSA races last year (the 24 at Daytona is an event I suggest anyone go to at least once...this next one will be my 11th!) and the Mini GT just captures the beauty of these cars.
Transformers and hotwheels was the ultimate collaboration for me. So much nostalgia and surprise at the fast both mattel and Hasbro teamed up. Loved it so much.
My fav Soup was the 180sx, the blue spectraflame with white rims was fire. The reg hunt was the bone shaker for me...the white with all the detail and white trimmed wheels was also fire.
@lamley during covid lock down I turned to Your channel and Phil from @peaktimeracing ....needless to day in the last five years this hobby has blown up for me. I now have over 3,000 diecast and love hunting every free moment. Keep the content coming.
Lamley I think thanks to this video you finally convinced me to look into kaido house and mini GT. Since I have a wall section for my stancenation casting and some of those models have excellent Fitment
The dark horse doesn’t surprise me. I cannot be mad at the Mazda super treasure. If you do a sun check on it. It’s absolutely beautiful as well as the Mercedes. However, I’d love love the 77 Pontiac Firebird. For me that was the super of the year. Because I’m a new collector and low budget, one as well some of these other brands are so new to me I just don’t know much about them. However, some of them are very Kool. Thanks for doing the models of the year. I have been looking for Rexy and Roxy have not been able to find any of them. And now worry that I won’t because of how they finished. And I will not pay reseller price for them!!! Happy New Year’s to all and happy hunting !!!!

The Hyundai is definitely one of my favorite Mini GT of 2024 and the Civic and the NSX from Kaido House. Fun fact is that im actually missing the first NSX release. I just got the other two in this red 😅 need to get this first release somehow to make a comparison with all the variants

Did the tournament include Auto World, Tarmac Works, or (manufactured by MiniGT) BBR? Both top 10 lists are great and both winners are great. There is a lot of quality in the 1/64 space.
@@IdontKnow-jt2oz stock in stores was non-existent too. Other than the PEG WARMING Nissan Zs and mustang shelbys, I ahvent seen one new model on pegs lol
HW: Subaru Forester STi - we knew we were getting a MC Forester, which would be Gen 1 or 2. Gen 1 would of been amazing as well, but more of a MBX side. HW giving us the STi trim is just the icing on top, and of course the proper first color release. Just wish they went with gold 6 spokes (Volk TE-37 look), however, the grey spokes do look OEM as well.
Race track replica rubber mat for the race cars, just saying. And I really wish kaido would’ve built the nsx right hand drive. If it was an Acura nsx Lhd would be fine but since it’s a Honda nsx it should technically be rhd. Loved the video John! Manifest radness!
Great one. Personally the kicker for me was the Aston Martin, could pick it up everytime i see it .But what about some love for fantasy? Rly cool cars in there to, like the Ravenger, Dwagon or Drift'n Break.
Lots of great fantasy models but I like to keep things licensed for consistency in the Lamley Awards. Someone should do a Lamley Style tournament for fantasy castings. All that said we did discuss putting the Small Bloc on the list.
@@lamleygroup Fair enough. Yeah, someone should do that kind of apprais for these castings. With all that down talk or dismissal on the newer ones, i sometimes read, i'm in a bit of a fear for the future of them. It would have been interessting to see what the Small Bloc could have achived between all the licensed models.
For the roxy and rexy I wasn’t interested in those, but what was strange, for premium that Forester was SO well done, but man is it a peg warmer in my area. The Pandem only touched the pegs for about a sec, but that forester is still there 🤷♂️ Mainline of the year I agree with, though the fave was 67 Lotus Type 49 for me. Lastly Kaido’s square bodies are on point. My only critique is while the tailgates do open, they don’t like to stay closed all the way
Auto World there wasn't enough output this year, but that will change in 2025. For Tarmac it was a little more complicated. Trying to differentiate their Global and Hobby lines is tough, so we decided to add them into the 64 car tournament. That could change next year.
I still wish there was a section for each of the main brands. Tarmac can be put together hobby and global, but AW still should have had something despite whatever issues they dealt with in 24. Also Greenlight and M2 deserve their own categories and I’m not sure why they are ghosted, they are major contributor’s to the space.
IIRC, MiniGT & Sparky had Rexy in the works before HW, thanks to the IMSA & Le Mans licenses respectively. And Rexy has been a fan favourite in both IMSA/WEC since early 2023. Btw personally, I’m waiting for Spike to complete the trio. MiniGT, are you listening???
Kaidohouse is my new favourite 1:64 scale tuner brand which features slammed cars in never before seen Liberty Walk/ Pandem/ Rocket Bunny style...and it's affordable as well... What do you think about MicroTurbo? I think they got awesome, beautiful slammed JDM, like a recently released black & sky blue 180SX with lots of tuner stuff put on...also Mazda MR2's and Miiata versions with pop-up front lights like Kaidohouse's... They even got a Dekotora truck with customizable traditional Ukiyoe decal designs... Btw, what's your opinion on Ignition Model and it's pricing? Is it justified? Happy New Year to U !!!

The fact that the hideously designed Mustang Dark Horse casting won the "best HW basic licensed new model" over other much better castings seriously make me concerned about the state of collecting culture...

They were included in the 64 car tournament this year. Each year we decide what brands get their own tournament.

Just curious how you figure out what tournaments you run and why no Tarmac tournament or Auto World tournament?
