job interviews now are done via emails/online with direct questions and answers and no longer any spontaneous face-to-face interaction to build that kind of rapport
I used to think this was hilarious until it happened to me last January. The person being interviewed before me looked like she was having such a great time inside, everyone was laughing. Then it was my turn and I could literally hear the a/c unit.😳

@@rgkong8783 well I guess did enough because I got called back for the next steps. Unfortunately that was January of last year and COVID was about to blow up. A few weeks later the hiring process was put on hold. But fortunately I was able to land something else for the mean time.
@@chrisp9824 what's rougher was the timing as it was merely weeks before everything got shut down by COVID. So in the end the interview process was set aside as the company had to freeze hiring. But I did manage to land something else.

I love how this is set in the 1970's but the actual setting of the era is completely irrelevant to the actual skit itself. It's like they just wanted to wear 70s garb. Love it
Not really, job hunting and the interview process was ONLY done in person in those days and you saw your competition. These days you have thousands of applicants and your interview is usually done in a group, or via some virtual meeting room. I don't think this sketch would have hit the same had they set it in the present

Sure people went job hunting in person before and after that, he ^ said the sketch wouldn't hit as hard if it were "set in PRESENT DAY"...not before the 70's or 2010 onwards. What about 99 and onwards?? ..the 70's and onwards?...Is 2010 when you were born or something? You should really learn to read a comment accurately before you attack it.
@@rowingaway If it was anything other than 2010 onwards the first comment would've been the same, "they did in x time period instead of today just because they wanted to wear the garb", so any time period other then todays is irrelevant. If the sketch would make less sense in a today's setting, then the comment you are replying to still makes sense.

The ocean has no sentience, nor actions, nor can it be held responsible for it simply just existing. So to call the ocean a bitch makes no sense. Exactly what happened to me during my first ever job interview. Guy before me was laughing with his interviewer, it was so loud me and the others waiting to be interviewed heard it from the next room. I didn’t get the job.

Is that the norm in the US to have multiple candidates in a row and they all see each other in waiting room like it's a doctor's visit. I've done about 20 interviews in my life and I've never seen such a situation. Usually it's just me alone and I never ever saw any other candidate.
Edit, come to think of it I do remember such a situation only happening once and that was for a really low end factory job where no real experience was requierd.

@@flybeep1661 More prestigious jobs will have loads of people in waiting. Jobs that require more out of you, such as qualifications, will indeed be more intimidating than what you saw in this video.
But this is how work goes in real life. 2 guys working together doing the same job and the same quality of work with the same good attitude. Management happens to click better with one of the guys personality. That guy is given all the praise and credit while the other guys gets talked down to.

It's bad to cultivate this type of habit, to expand your awareness to trivial things, it might feel good or be harmless for a while but in time you'll see it's actually very excessive and unnecessary to many daily and mundane experiences. You can tell that the secretary’s laugh was real and at Keegan’s laugh in the back.
The guy on the couch playing the foil to Peele was key. Peele repeatedly looking at him in utter disbelief, but not getting any response really added to the sense that Peele was adrift. Great how he gave it the ole college try at the end too! These two produce the funniest skit comedy ever, as usual.

Reminds of an interview I had at Guitar Center once, it was a group interview -me and two other interviewees - however the interview was really me and another guy listening to the other guy brag about his band getting signed and the HR guy reminiscing about his time in the music business and sharing laughs with the guy in the band... me and the other guy would just look at each other like “should we just leave?” Lol
Regular interviews can be bad, but group interviews are the absolute worst
@@forman208 not if you're the guy one getting all the attention. I had classmate in highschool that had a group interview for a job at pizza hut and she got all the attention when they got to a part in her resume that mentions that she took a business class and participated in a DECA program.

I have taken jobs that had no interview, just application and drug test. Amazon was one of them, Uber another. That’s how much I dislike interviews.

I've experienced this twice and had three panels of ppl interview me on the third round of interviews. It lasted for almost three hours. I had them sincerely laughing and everything. Still didn't get the job and traveled out of town got a hotel room and everything just to get there early
