    That’s certainly quicker than putting a 3 point A frame carrier on each time you wanna move a trailer. Great video

    Thanks for sharing. Welded this up today with some 1/4 scrap I had laying around. Should be thick enough.

    Now that is certainly a slick design. I like it a lot. Quick, simple and well thought out man. Thanks for the link sir. I couldn't quite read the number, but was that an SU 3000 or was it a 4000?? I sold two SU 3000's a couple years ago and then a '70 2000 found its way here along with a bush hog, plows, blade and 6' tandem disc. Three cylinder gasser.

      Tractorman44 thanks. The tractor is a ‘72 5000 diesel. Just the right size for my setup and small enough to maneuver in the woods. My family grew up on and still run the fords. 600 up to tw20. Uncles always said we couldn’t afford the green and red so blue will do!

    Great idea. I've been looking for a way to pull a trailer from the drawbar. One question I have though is about clearance in tight turns. Since the drawbar doesn't stick out from the back of the tractor much, do you ever find yourself getting the back tires into the tongue of the trailer in a tight turn? That might be more of a problem when trying to back up and turn at the same time.

    • @garny3766
      @garny3766  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s been fine. My setup ain’t much different than a pickup for clearance but with the added benefit of tractor brakes. You can steer a trailer right in backing up. I do keep drawbars raised though

    I kinda did the same thing except I butchered a hitch off a pickup truck put pins on end for 3 point hitch and an upright for top link so now I have the framework for 3 point with receiver tube accepts all the same features plus i can pick trailer up without cranking up jack move and set down with out getting off tractor unless you are going longer distance lock latch and crank up jack

    • @garny3766
      @garny3766  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      M Y yeah I have built some of those 3 point hitches too. They do work well. The niche i was going for was just the drawbar and something small and compact. This fit the bill perfect. I can keep this in the toolbox and install at the drop of a hat. In my other videos my log rack I use like you stated where you can drop under a ball hitch, lift up, and pull.

    Any idea why tractors dont come with drawbars on the front of the tractor? Sometimes I want to hook up something and pull backwards a short distance and dont want to turn around or cant. Dont want to run a strap to the bucket but would rather pull from the body.

    • @garny3766
      @garny3766  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      bigal25938 I think because they were designed after the horse🤔😆...always pulling forward. Nah, not sure. But I see the bigger tractors are now coming with a 3 point in front. And nowadays almost all these tractors have a loader or subframe that allow operators much more versatility. But yeah, I’ve used them ol fords with a combination grill and hitch that was attached to the front axle. Sure work nice when you want to push-steer a wagon into a tight spot

    • @crpth1
      @crpth1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing to do with horses, is just basic engineering. The vast majority of tractor designs are made to pull heavy loads from the back section. The name of the equipment itself, already provide an important clue! Tractor---traction---pull. ;-)
      In most case scenarios the front half of the tractor is being held in place by no more than 6 bolts! Yep! The ones that are undone to separate the two halves, to replace a clutch for example. ;-)
      Take a look at those videos of "tractor fails" and you'll see them, literally, breaking apart precisely on that bolted junction! It's no big surprise really.
      It's a simple design option where the gear box and huge wheels are located!
      Modern 4x4 option improved a lot regarding this issue. But traction is still mostly done by the back side! People just need/must understand, what to do and most important what NOT to do! ;-)
      Example: Pulling tree stumps with the front is a really bad idea. In fact any heavy traction... Use the back of the tractor that's what it's made for anyway!

    If someone would make one to fit a massey ferguson drawbar, I'd be a customer. I need one of these but don't have the welding skills. Although I guess the need might be incentive for me to go out and buy a good welder.

    • @martin-vv9lf
      @martin-vv9lf 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've made a few for my own tractors, they all have the same inch pin size so they're interchangeable with some side to side play. I'd never sell them though, insurance would claim against me in the event of an accident. Any engineering company would be able to make you one. You could mark on an iron plate where you want the holes drilled and not say what it's for.
