I used this procedure to perform a zero point calibration on a 2004 RAV4. Your paper clip positions worked on my car. The dealer manual showed the wrong positions. Thank you, you saved me $400. That’s what the dealer quoted.

This video has saved me. My 2011 Toyota Camry reset Steering angle sensor and calibrated to zero. All I did was disconnect both battery terminals for 15 mins, making sure to park on level surface and make sure my steering wheel was straight. Didn't even use the paper clips this time as I had no errors.

U didn't do anything but clear the light temporarily! It will come back because the calibration still needs to be done!

FYI - did this in 2024 - It Worked on my 2015 Toyota Sienna - Did not disconnect battery - had to do this after I changed out both struts myself. Similar videos out there however some videos skip the first step (“touch clips together 6x’s”) and only do the 2nd step and it seemed to clear the VSC light for them. Anyway Thank you sir!

Holy crap, this actually worked! You’re awesome 👏
For anyone reading this for future reference, I’ve got a 2017 Corolla…had the lane departure, traction control and vehicle collision system malfunction warnings all come up after new tie rods and an alignment and this fixed it. All of those systems are now working correctly with no warning lights on.
Just be aware that the OBD socket was the other way up on my car (long side at the top) so be careful to make sure you locate the CG and TS pins for your vehicle correctly.

One thing i may add here. When removing battery terminals always remove the negative first then positive. When hooking it bsck up positive first then negative last.

Excellent video, and it solved my problem, which I'll share for others with similar situations: 2006 Sienna with VSC and Trac Off lights on. I didn't know about this problem, because I had another issue that tripped the Check Engine light, which also causes the VSC and Trac Off lights to come on (which I ignored). Once I solved the Check Engine problem and got that light to clear, the VSC and Trac Off light came on by themselves. I believe it must have been related to a rack & pinion boot replacement done a year or more ago. Anyway, performed the procedure above and all lights are off now. Thank you for the great video!

I have a toyota camry 3.5 v6 2010 (start/stop button) and the first steps didn't work, the lights didn't flash... only the final one, when u turn the ignition on with the paper clips together, but in this case, all lights flashed.. not only VSC and ABS but also all the lights (they didn't flash together, with the same speed)! I don't know if it worked.. the lights are off now, but if I simply disconnect the battery, it's normal for the lights to be off for awhile.. I drove for 50 miles and the lights r still off.. I hope they keep it that way.. I live in Brazil and I couldn't find a place to perform zero calibrate point in my car through a scanner, it seems that the car doesn't accept it! Have u seen a car that doesn't accept the first steps but the final one works well?

@proclaimliberty2000 - My ‘08 RAV4 is not displaying the VSC or ABS dash-lights but my FIXD OBD-reader is displaying numerous codes related to steering-angle & ABS - specifically C1223 (lamp brake warning output circuit failure), U0126 (lost communication w/steering angle sensor), C1241 low battery positive voltage ABS), and U0073 (control module communication bus “A” off). Should I recalibrate the steering-angle before the dash-lights show the problems? Thanks.
