  • Calibration zero point steering angle position sensor on Toyota, Scion and Lexus. This video shows you how to recalibrate the steering angle position sensor. If you have the TRACTION control light and/or VSC light on. The code I had was a C1290. My came on after an alignment and driving over 30 MPH. Make sure your OBD2 port is in the same position as mine in the video and count over 5 pins from right to left, if your OBD2 port is flipped count over 5 pins from left to right and jump both ports on top of each other with a paperclip. As always thank you for watching and hope this video helps.

Thank you very much ! It worked on my 2003 Lexus RX 300. The VSC light came on just by itself. Without this clip, I would have brought it to the dealership and they have to charge a minimum of $269 to reset it!

So thankful for this video! Worked great on my 2009 RAV4. I replaced my intermediate steering shaft and was a little careless with the wheel position. I got it dialed in driving straight but once I hit 15mph the car would throw on the traction control and try to stop the car lol. Not just the light but literally try to stop it too. I assume I messed up the wheel angle and it thinks I’m trying to turn while going straight. Learned about the steering angle sensor, found this video and boom it fixed it. Thanks for the video!!

Worked perfectly on my 2011 Lexus RX350. The light had come on after doing an alignment and really did not feel like driving back to the shop.
For anyone trying this on a RX, count the pins starting from the engine towards the drivers seat. Also first short the pins 4 times while on IGNITION ON, turn everything off, and the proceed as in the video.

@@Mr_Fix_It Do you mean that 'shorting these pins' is the same as clearing ALL codes with an OBD2 tool/reader? And, if jumping these pins ONLY clears codes - why is this also called a 'CALIBRATION'?
I have 3 warnings showing in my instrument cluster (on my 2008 RX350):
      - ABS,
      - VSC OFF(flashing), and,
      - traction control symbol (car with swervy lines behind it).
They just all came on after a gas fill up, I think!
I also have several codes including:
      - U0073 (ABS bus communication off),
      - C0205 (front speed sensor LH circuit), and
      - U0126 (lost communication with steering angle module).
I cleaned the front left ABS speed sensor - it did have some metal clinging to it.
So, now I'm wondering what to do next. I drove the car for 10 minutes - ABS light stays on. Should I use your jump the pins to re calibrate steering angle? (which may reset ALL codes?)
And then should I clear all the codes with the OBD2 scanner?
I also have these codes. Might they all be coming due to ABS error code?:
      U0123, C1223, U0124 (replace YAW rate sensor)
      C2122
What do you suggest I work on next? (THANKS for any help you would offer!)

@@m.n.3490 Sounds like you have a bad ABS/wheel sensor. I would replace it and clear all codes with a scanner. You can get a speed sensor on Rockauto.com. They probably have the best pricing on auto parts .

      @@Mr_Fix_It (I thought I replied, looks like I did not ...)
So,I did look at the sensor, and there was a lot of metal shavings sticking to it. I cleaned it off, thinking the metal shavings was messing up the sensor readings. The sensor line looked good, not cuts or scrapes. I dd not test the sensor line for resistance as I could not find my meter.
What I am not clear on. is, if cleaning the sensor worked, would the ABS light go off after driving the car for a few miles all by itself? Or, would I need to clear the ABS light, drive a few miles, and see if the ABS warning light comes back on?
Since I have so many codes, I'm not sure if they are related to each other in any way. Ex: Like with the BS code of U0073 (control module communic BUS off) and C0205 (Front speed sensor LH circuit). Would cleaning the sensor (or replacing with a new sensor) turn off both U0073 and C0205? Do both need to turn off to clear the ABS light being on?
And do any of the other warning lights relate to ABS? For example do the VSC OFF, or TRAC (swerving car symbol) light up due to ABS light? DO they have their related codes?
      Man, this is complicated stuff.

So, I saw another video on recalibrating the steering angle, but, it looks like they used different pins, since the DLC3 is oriented 180 degrees differently than yours. You seem to be using different pins?
    In YOUR video the pins used look like: // o o o X o o o o \\.
    // o o o X o o o o \\
    In OTHER video pins used look like: \\ o o o o X o o o //.
    \\ o o o o X o o o //
The other video said to use pins 4 and 12 (where 4 = TS, and 12 = CG)
I have a diagram on my google photos, but, when I tried to post a link here, TH-cam deleted my comment.
Anyways, which instruction should I use? Are you sure you put the paper clip in the correct pins in your DLC3 (OBD2) port?

    • @Mr_Fix_It
      @Mr_Fix_It  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

The OBD port is in different positions in different cars. As long as your car is a Toyota or Lexus or Scion, line up your paper clip like in my video and you should be able to do the reset.

Ooops, I messed up the diagram above. (Was getting sleepy, lol).

@@Mr_Fix_It If you're going to publically put yourself and your videos out on the largest video platform that exists on planet Earth, don't get your feelings hurt when someone addresses a legitimate issue they may have with the "quality" of one of those videos. I lost around 75% of my hearing in BOTH of my ears from a horrific accident in 2018 and have to wear hearing amplifiers and the sound coming from the chime in your video makes both of those amplifiers hit a high pitch and then the sound cracks. Have you ever heard the sound a microphone makes when it gets too close to the speaker that it's connected to? That's the same sound I get to hear when watching this video. This video was neither useful nor free for me. Also, if you would've turned the key to the "on" position instead of having it on "accessory," you'd noticed that the chime would've gone away.
