I have felt the same way for years but didn’t want to say it. How many “ one and done” plays can you go through without hurting the program.

We've had our UK BBALL season tix since 1972. I'm extremely close to letting them go completely. Cal has steadily worn me down to a state of apathy. It's increasingly more difficult to support him. I'll always back our players. But, Cal is not coaching for championships here. He's coaching to get players to the NBA, and that's become tiresome and extremely disappointing. I hate this feeling of disgust. Cal can recruit, but he's become an average coach at best. Sad to see our program's dismal state.

That last play cal called was a terrible call. This team isn’t physical. We got out manned in the paint. 3 straight losses at rupp is unacceptable. Not playing rob more in the second half was unacceptable.

Filling ham was not handling the pick and roll . The only guard that did good job on pick and roll was # 21 who did not play in second half . What’s crazy is all of Kentucky biggest play the pick and roll soft . You’re 7 ft and you allow a 5ft 11 see the pass to big in middle

But that’s not on the players.. In all reality none of them guarded it well.. That’s why the coach should have adjusted and trapped, hedged and recover or went zone.. But cal won’t adjust.. They literally ran the same play the whole game and we never once adjusted our defense..

Zag fan here, Reeves and Sheppard are something special. I hated watching them go crazy against us but wow they are gonna be great at the next level. Also the game definitely wasn’t lost for Kentucky in the first half. I think they won the game half way through the second half but didn’t adjust. I thought for sure we were done for at about 12 mins left

I know that calling up a lob pass for an alley oop at the end of game when your success rate is probably about 10-15 % effective is bad coaching. I know that having your best scorer on the bench at the end of the game is bad coaching. I know that Calipari will get out coached again when we are in another big game that matters. This is Kentucky basketball, we expect excellence. The players are not the problem, it's the used car salesman who cares more about getting them to the pro level than UK basketball.

Seven losses with Seven NBA players! The last 3 seasons you could explain away because of Covid and just being stuck with a bad blend of bad shooters/passers the last two seasons. But this team looks the 1996 Wildcats when theyre rolling (on offense, D, not so much!!!) yet cant stop an NIT team at home. And Cal keeps saying young! Yeah we have 6 freshman, but our two highest minutes per game guys are fifth year seniors. It's hard as hell to win on the road, so you cant just show up and expect to win at Rupp. You gotta protect and respect that home court advantage. And the trio of Orlando, Bruiser, Chin might be the worst assemble of basketball strattegy brain power in all of CBB. Our best assistant coach is an unpaid grad assistant and our second bestt is the individual workout guy!!!!!!!!
Then Cal says UK lost the game in the first half. Yeah they got their asses kicked in the first half, but the score was freaking KENTUCKY 57 Gonzaga 51 with 12:30 to go in the SECOND HALF! If the game was tied or UK had a small lead at Half, Cal wouldve found a way to blow it. UK has one good win to hang their hats on this year. They had UNC down by 14 blew the lead and somehow managed to pull it out. We'd be a bubble team if that one wouldve got away. Cal been going to the grind it out crap in these type of games way too early and blowing win after win! Im rabbling now. Hopefully they can figure it out, unlike the last few seasons, this team has a magic about it but needs to be coached to win a pushed. But they look completely lost on Defense and I alway thought that was was Cal 2nd best coaching strenghth behind recruiting.

So take a few 3-star guys who will play with heart for 3 or 4 seasons and are NOT obsessed with the NBA! Those guys are the heart and soul of a real team anyway.

We definitely lose in the SEC Tournament. Do we go to the NCAA's this year? I don't think we do. And that should be the bell for Calipari. To not make the tournament with this much talent? Cal looks old, slow and burned out. There is nothing wrong with that, it's normal after coaching at a place like UK for 15 seasons. He has been here long enough, it's time for a fresh face and a fresh set of eyes to lead the program.

I hear everyone talking about Gonzaga not having any talent but, don't forget the history of Coach Mark Few. This Kentucky team will improve, coach Cal will get better production from this team. I would not look down on this team because there is still a long way to go, SEC Tournament and, some winnable games. Everyone has always had trouble with Gonzaga, yes Coach Few gets the max out of his teams.

I have said all year, this team can't play a man to man defense. Adjust your defense that this team can win with. Where is the motivation on defense. Our Kentucky teams have always been great on defense. Not this year. Is Cal practicing blocking out. The opponents are getting alot of offensive rebounds. This team better come together defensively or they are going to be a first round out. Some players still playing one on five basketball on offense. Cal, please get this team out of the ditch and get them motivated to play defense. Got to get more stops and block out on the boards.

I am a big Kentucky fan and it no comfort in saying that coach Cal just can’t deliver in a crunch situation. It’s been the norm over the past several years especially in the Tournament. He had way too many “ one and done” players over the years. Seems to me he recruits on the promise of getting them into the Pros before they graduate if they ever graduate.
Honestly, we were better before we got any of our big guys in the lineup. That was the team that had KU on the ropes, dominated UNC, etc. I don't know if that just messed up the chemistry or what, but it has been steadily downhill since. The bottom line is our 3 big guys are not developed and are a huge defensive liability, with apologies to Onyenso who is the most developed IMO. Cal has forgotten more than I'll ever know about basketball but I would go back to playing Mitchel at the 5, and limit playing time for the 3-7 footers. I know he won't but certainly would try that for a game or 2 and see what happens. If we don't shape up, not making the tournament is soon going to be in play.
The media needs to tell Cal in his next presser that no one's blaming the player's.. We're all blaming him.

The problem is not with recruiting top players. The problem is Cal not encouraging them to stay for longer than 1 year! He doesn’t care about what UK stands for, all he cares about is the kids reaching their NBA dream. Yeah they may get drafted, but most end up in D-league or overseas. Encourage these kids to stay for a year or two, and you’d see a HUGE difference. Look at how the Harrison twins were for an example, or Willie Cauley-Stein, or my God think about how much better of a ball player Terrance Jones was the championship year vs the year before. Jesus Christ Coach, encourage these boys to stay!!!
I have read almost all of the 268 comments, and every one of them is negative of Cal and wanting a new coach. That's a huge issue that the local media has so far ignored. But the national media isn't, saying that Cal is burned out, or worse and it's time for him to resign. The fan base, in my non scientific appraisal, is now mostly anti Cal. Whereas a month ago it was maybe 70/30 supporting Cal. Now it seems like 90/10 against him.

Same story as the other losses I looked at. Kentucky's starters: Senior, Sophomore Sophomore, Freshman, Freshman. Gonzaga's starters: Senior, Junior, Junior, Junior, Junior. There will be help when the covid year is gone, but too often, KY's young guys are playing against grown men.

Wooden's run deserves an asterisk because the tournament didn't move teams geographically back then, and west coast college basketball was very underdeveloped. So UCLA had a very easy road to the final four every year. They only had to win two hard games to win a championship every year. By contrast, every other good program was in the East, and they beat each other up.

Out of Edwards' own mouth he said they allowed Gonzaga to seal them off and that they had been focusing on that in practice. Gonzaga killed them all night with that, but someone how it's Cal's fault the players won't do what he's worked with them on?
I love and respect Cal. He is a great recruiter but in my opinion he is not very good at X's and O's on the sideline. His teams biggest weakness is always defense. He's gotta go.
I’ll be honest I was there watching the game live. In the first half it seemed we couldn’t get anything to fall. The second half we were doing great, came out exploding. Later on in the game, I counted 5 walks and they never called a single one. It’s ridiculous. Crowd was very loud and there’s no reason we should’ve lost the game. We should only be a 3 loss team right now and it saddens me to even say that. This teams way too talented.
Cal is not motivated. They should put him on a per win salary When you get the 10 or 20 mil a year whether you win or lose what is your motivation.
