RM turned 28 in September. Korean age is different than international age.
RM didn't serve in the military yet, actually no BTS member went to the military yet. They all will release their own solo projects before enlisting in the military. He isn't the oldest in BTS, he is the in the middle in terms of age in BTS There's 3 members older than him, and 3 members younger than him.
The oldest is Jin, he turned 30 yesterday, and will enlist first next week. (Jin kinda looks like he is in his early 20s tho he doesn't look or act like a 30 year old man, so for non fans it feels weird to say he is in his 30s now lmao)
We don't know when the others will go yet, so far only Jin, RM, and J-hope released their solo projects. Suga is probably next since he is turning 30 the in the first half of 2023 , he hasn't released his album yet, but his solo project will probably be announced soon before he goes. (He already has 2 solo mixtapes tho, one in 2016 and one in 2020 but not as suga, he did it as Agust D, an alter-ego, kinda like Eminem and slim shady.
Btw, BTS music is also like this. It doesn't sound like BTS but does sound like BTS at the same time. Like BTS has many songs with soul, hip-hop and RnB elements to it. It's literally THEIR BASE, their main music genre isn't even pop. Aside from the few successful commerical pop tracks like the one you've heard, they don't represent their musicality at all. RM IS the main songwriter in BTS after alongside with suga and j-hope. (Both have solo albums too, suga has 2 mixtapes, jhope has one mixtape and a hip-hop album release this year)
If you wanna listen to something similar by BTS try Rain by BTS, or even house of Cards, and Still with you by Jungkook from BTS, Singularity by BTS (but it's a V solo, credited under BTS cus it's from a BTS album)
In terms of hip-hop try Strange by Agust D (who is suga from BTS's alter-ego, same person, different stage name, ft RM), the whole jack in the box album by j-hope, like MORE, ARSON, Stop, Pandora's Box are great. He performed in lollapalooza for his solo album and it's absolutely insane so u might check his performance out.

You can turn on the subtitles to see the lyrics which are so important to RM he is a poet. No one is in the military yet. Jin will be the first to serve on 12/13. The rest will be going after they finish releasing there solo albums. The album is amazing you can see RM break down each song on bangtantv there channel.
You might think Rm is old compared to the rest, but he’s actually the middle child of them, the oldest is 32 in Korean age (30) and the youngest is 27 in Korean age (25). Bts’ main genres are actually r&b, rap, and hiphop and every member has their own solo songs or mixtapes. Since it looks like you guys like r&b and possibly rap, here’s some songs you might like:

All three album/singles are so different in genres.
Only bts will ever have that range.
RM is right in the middle in terms of age in BTS, there's 3 older and 3 younger members. He said he's gonna be 30 next month because in Korea age is different, everybody turn a year older on new year; he's 28 yo (international age)
They did build the library for the performance. It's a replica of the actual Tiny Desk space with some added BTS-related stuff
He has a 148 IQ. He Is brilliant and a deep deep thinker.
He is not the oldest member. Its jin. N jin gonna enlist next week. First member to do so. Military usually around 18months. But before that, bts members planned to release solo stuffs first.
RM always known to be deep n smart. He is BTS main songwriter. He is known to be genius with IQ 148. BTS gonna have their own documentary series about their history on disney+ very soon early next year. You can learn more why people love them so much.

I love how RM can go in and out of the Korean and English language, BTS also does this well, as with the Japanese language. with English. They are multilingual. But RM is the only one fluent in English. The other members are getting there though. I love Seoul from his MONO mixtape, He has a love/hate relationship with that city. Other songs I love from MONO are Moonchild and Forever Rain. Yeah, and all BTS members will be enlisted in the Military by mid-2023, Jin will be reporting for duty in a week. I'm going to list their ages right now. Korean age is different, RM says he's turning 30 next month, he actually just turned 28 on September 12, 2022. In Korea, when you are born, you are automatically 1 year old, then every new years day January 1st, you turn 1 year older. Actual Birthdays only count for their Global (biological) birth date. so here are their Global ages in order of Oldest to Youngest.

You askedfor more...literally...J-hope from BTS released a song called "More" this year! You guys should check it out. It's like you say, "not typically BTS sounding". But then....a lot of BTS songs are not typical BTS sounding as they experiment a lot and try new things all the time.

RM is exactly in the middle between BTS' members ages, not the oldest hahaha there are 3 members older than him, he didn't serve yet, none of them did, they'll still go.
BTS also does lots of stripped down performances… yes, they can do heavily produced stuff but they also can and always have done lots of stripped down performances. Everything else I wanted to say has been covered here already.
glad y’all enjoyed! RM is such a genius!! His album is incredible. fans love the switch between english, Korean, and even other languages in their music. Regardless of language the lyrics are just as good, and the way they switch is so impressive. Their lyrics are beautiful. I think the best thing to watch next from bts to get a general idea of their group vibe would be their Proof Live performance! Anderson Paak, who is actually featured on still life, plays drums for one of the songs and it’s so fun 😭It’s a sit down performance like this one, and they also have a full group tiny desk that you could watch too ! and if you’d like to see the lyrics these both have captions :)

RM's whole Indigo album is amazing and definitely not the usual KPop songs you would usually hear. His first song, Seoul, was produced by Honne, an English electronic music duo from the UK. The 2nd song which is the first track in the Indigo album is titled Yun and RM collaborated with Erykah Badu. The 3rd song, Still Life, is the 2nd track in his album and you're right, Anderson Paak is featured in it too. Thanks for checking it out 😊.

I don't recall if RM mentioned that he did 'Still Life' with Anderson .Paak. The official music video is out now, but only Anderson's voice is heard in it. It would have been crazy if he appeared in the video. Anderson recently directed and sang in 2 videos with H.E.R 'Where I Go' and Hailee Steinfeld, 'Coast'.
We're definitely going to check out that video!

Just an FYI - some of BTS's best songs are their B sides. Their "big hits" in America will be there English hits, which are amazing also, but those are mainly English pop songs. You said you reacted to DNA, that one was big too, but they do not get a lot of radio play on thier Korean language songs. So songs like Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance (BTS's only 3 fully English pop songs) got more radio play. Those are good songs, but please do a reaction to the introduction Taylor video I linked in my other comment first. It may be a long video, but ARMY's will watch it with you. and I will link you the medley, Please use the link I'm sharing, because many times the originals don't have full English subtitles, or any at all.

lyrics are the reason bts are so big cause they write them themselves based on their lives and they go deep into social issues, mental health, self love etc theyre not typical boyband they have few songs that are but 10 years worth of diversity in their music different genres, topics,etc plus ALL members have solo music and will release more solo music. they will come back as a group in 2025 after they all complete military service.
BTS make literally every genre of music - the "joke" among BTS and ARMY is that "BTS is the genre" - so rather than an individual song, I'd recommend watching the linked below performance from last year where they do a live medley of different songs across their catalogue (which is well over 250 songs, BTW, so I'm sure if you delved deep enough you'd find something you'd love, LOL).

so yeah, all of them have solos. even if this is RM's first official album, it's his third projec as a solo: mono in 2018 and RM in 2015. Suga has two mixtapes as well: D2 in 2020 and AgustD in 2016. J-Hope has a solo album, Jack in the box from 2022 and And misxtape Hope world from 2018. The vocalists have many singles, too many to write them all

So, RM was about 16 when he was signed by his label (Bog Hit) and he joined their trainee program. He did some underground rap before that, but all of his official solo songs/projects have been released since BTS debuted. All of the BTS members have been given the flexibility to do that, but the more popular they got the less time they actually had to focus on their solo projects - that's part of the reason for their current hiatus (in addition to them all serving in the military for 18 months). RM is the leader, but as others have mentioned he is not the oldest.
The last song that you liked so much has a feature by Anderson .Paak. RM just released a music video for it. I highly recommend this entire new album - 10 songs, 10 different music genres and all of excellent quality. Also, always check for subtitles - there were subtitles for this Tiny Desk concert released just a few hours after it dropped. For anything RM has written, reading the lyrics is essential because he almost always gets DEEP.
