I used to think making charges jewellers charge are exorbitant. This makes me rethink. You put a lot of work in that piece.
The craftsmen barely recieve 2 -4 % of the jewellery weight as making charge. The rest 10-12% is pure profit for the jewellery store owner.

I have been closely watching the Jewellery making since my childhood, as my father has been doing it and our ancestors did it. It requires meticulous care and Extraordinary focus and concentration while doing it, a small mistake can cause damage and loss to the gold Smith. That is why you should always buy gold chips and biscuits as you can observe he used Iron or silver to weld joints but when selling they count this added weight as gold
At time of reselling they say that there is 15% impurity etc and at the end , gold seller is earning good both while selling and buying.
But this is there living so no offense, my only suggestion is for investment purpose ,only buy chips and biscuits
