I was thinking about this earlier, what was one of the main driving forces that drove Mayer to such a hard to reach skill level? I think it was from him looking up to/ admiring Stevie Ray Vaughan. SRV was serious about his craft, and you could also see that in his character in interviews, serious about playing the blues right and the blues musicians that came before him. That type of character and his guitar skills rubbed off on Mayer and so he wanted to be like him in a way, but in his own style thankfully (more jazzy tunes but with some blues mixed in). @@yayo2211
