The UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship aims to enable and encourage international students from low income backgrounds to pursue full-time Undergraduate degree studies at UCL.
Scholarship Benefits
This scholarship program offers:
- 10 awards of full tuition fees & maintenance
- and 20 awards of full tuition fees
The scholarship is tenable for the normal duration of the programme
The undergraduate tuition fees of UCL is about £24,000 to £32,100 per year.
The average cost of living is about £11,349 per year, so the maintenance allowance is around that value.
Eligibility
Candidates can be from any country outside the UK but must fulfil all of the following criteria:
- Be eligible to pay the overseas fee rate
- Come from a low income background
- AND have submitted an admission application for a full-time Undergraduate degree at UCL
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and upon the recommendation of the Student Funding Office.
Deadline
The deadline for applications to this scholarship will be at 5pm BST, Friday 29 April 2022.
Required information
- Personal details: your name, age, title and gender.
- Contact and residency details: address, email, telephone and where you live
- Education: qualifications and periods of study.
- Employment: you can enter details of up to 5 paid jobs, full time or part time. Include company names, addresses, job descriptions, start & finish dates. Any unpaid or voluntary work shouldn’t be included here - mention that in your personal statement. If you’ve not had any paid work experience, just leave this section blank, and mark it as complete.
- Nationality details: your birthplace and nationalities
- Supporting information so that providers know how to support you during your studies.
- English language skills
- Finance and funding: how you will fund your study
- Personal statement: Why do you want to study this subjects?
- And details of your references
Personal statement is very important because it is the only part of the application where you can write in your own style. It’s your chance to tell universities and colleges why you’d like to study with them, and what skills and experience you have.
A reference is a written recommendation from a teacher, adviser or professional who knows you academically. You need a reference unless you get permission from your chosen universities and colleges. You must have a completed reference on your application before it is sent to UCAS.
You pay application fee of £22 for a single choice or £26.50 for more than one choice. You will then need to read and agree to the declaration before submitting your application.
Top things admission teams will look for when reviewing your application are
- Qualifications
- Content of written personal statement displaying passion for the subject area, while demonstrating motivation, enthusiasm, and the skills and experiences that will enable you to succeed at university
- Content of reference
- Knowledge of, and commitment to, the subject discipline
- Good attitude to learning and personal development
- Ability to articulate yourself fluently and accurately in writing

Thanks Maria for your great feedback. If you come from a non-English speaking country, you will have to take English tests (IELTS or TOEFL), rather than that I don't see any specific requirements about any other exams. Important aspects for your application are: very good academic results (of high school), personal statements (to tell universities and colleges why you’d like to study with them, and what skills and experience you have) and reference letter (from a teacher, adviser or professional who knows you academically), any extra activities/awards/achievements or leadership experience also good.

Many thanks. Your positive feedback is a great motivation for me to make more videos like this. It does take a long time to do research & prepare the videos because I want the information as accurate as possible and the whole application guide as clear as possible for you guys to understand and follow.
It seems to be an annual scholarship program but it will depend on the university's budget (same as with other scholarship programs). Only offer 10 fully funded one and 20 tuition fees covered for international students from any countries. Therefore it will be highly competitive to get. Fully funded scholarships for undergraduate students like these are hard to find like diamond :D. I have list of many fully funded masters or PhD by research; can give you the list easily, but really hard to find a fully funded one for undergraduate level.
Many universities offer about 50% tuition fees. Some other programs offer full scholarships like GKS (mostly pass the deadline already, new announcement around September), Australia Awards (open until 29th April this year). You can try to apply as many as possible to increase your chance.

hello, im happy to say that I’ve been offered a partial award for this scholarship !! However, I would like to ask whether you know about the « normal duration of the program » : does it mean they will pay for all 3 / 4 years of the undergraduate program, or whether they will only pay for the year 2022-23 ? Wow, big congratulations to you. It should be in your scholarship offer for how long you can get it. In the scholarship website, normal duration of the program generally means for the whole duration of your study.

ucl terminates much of their scholarship to only Home fee based, which means only for home students(UK).

For the scholarship scheme bases on financial need, students who have not yet had the opportunity to study for an undergraduate degree will be given preference to those who already have an undergraduate degree.

hello, I have a couple of questions. While filling out my personal info, in nationality, there is a question that says "Please tell us your date of first entry to the UK". What should I put there if I never went to the UK as it is a mandatory field? Also in the part of education, it says "Please state the highest level of quealification you expect to have before you start your course" I actually, don´t get the question and the options, can you please explain them? How can I get the full scholarship for dental degree
You can try to apply for dental degree. General, medicine/doctor/dental degree fees are very high compare to other fields, scholarships in these fields are harder to get.
I was reading about the Japanese scholarships yesterday that they provide medicine study scholarships, but I haven't had a firm idea about the whole process yet because normally the process is via Japanese Embassy in each country. I'm trying to generalize them and make a video about it.
