  • How To Belt Without Strain | Belting Vocal Exercise // Hi Singers! Belting can be so much fun and can sound really impressive when you do it right. But often times singers tend to scream these high notes rather than sing them with proper belting technique. So today I have a vocal exercise that will help you belt without straining your voice and sing high belt songs like Chandelier by Sia! Remember to check in with yourself... how did that feel? it should feel effortless in your throat!

    One thing I don't understand. If I'm supporting, is my belly meant to be firm or soft? Do I have to contract my abs?

      You should be breathing from your belly. Your chest shouldn’t move when singing :)

    Are you belting or mix belting here!?

    • @VoxTapeStudios
      @VoxTapeStudios  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Great question! Most of this is a true chest belt... the "like a bird" at the very end goes more into a mix belt :)

    I really want to belt high like I used to. But it's becoming more and more difficult...

      Did you stopped practicing? Or were you belting in an unhealthy way that may have damaged your voice?
      You should not loose vocal abilities.. 🌷

      @Kayzblog ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sofilaticher Actually now that you've mentioned it, I used to belt in an unhealthy way that damaged my voice. I wanted to sing notes that were wayyy out of my rage and now my voice is broken 😢.

    • @sofilaticher
      @sofilaticher ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Kayzblog I used to do that too but there is a way to make those notes that seem out of range without harming yourself. Maybe you could take a 1 month break from singing and talking and then start training to learn how to mix and then how to belt properly and see what happens. Allow your body time to heal.

    • @Kayzblog
      @Kayzblog ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@sofilaticher That sounds splendid! I'll do it and see the results. I guess I'll have to start relearning how to sing from scratch afterwards. Thanks a lot!

    • @sofilaticher
      @sofilaticher ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Kayzblog Anytime! Believe it or not, sometimes learning from scratch is way quicker than trying to sneak the “right” way in a bad habit.
      It’s like a house with a bad foundation that you spend tons and tons of money to fix instead of building another from scratch.
      I went through that! 8 years of “vocal training” didn’t do much for me. Then I discovered way better techniques and in a year I was asked to start teaching others! (This was after studying music as a career). 10 years as a vocal coach and I still can’t believe it! Ha
      Well. That was before taking a long break from teaching when I moved to USA and lost all support, studio, childcare, etc.
      But hopefully will go back online to my passion this year. (I hated online lessons 😅)
      Fingers crossed!
      Don’t give up! Give your body time to heal and learn!
