Bull king swaps Perfect dodge for tenacity which lets you tank attacks while still getting your attacks out. Then the black iron staff gives you 5 attack per 30 defense boosting your attack to over 250 easily.
Common Wukong Armor + Dark Iron Staff + 3x Gold Spikeplate + Amber Prayer Beads + Auspicious Lantern + Weaver's Needle + Non-Able spirit is where I'm at on NG+++, all stats and celestial medicines maxed. High armor, high attack, throw in some pills if needed on a boss. A charged heavy attack coming out of cloud step is devastating.
Well, we are about to test this theory out on the Great Sage’s Broken Shell NG ++. I have appreciated your build guides for a long time with Div2 and glad to see you playing Wukong!
This is the same in God of war ragnorok with the survival armor. The armor with no perks have the best stats. Soon as I watched your video I switched from the bull king armor and had a defense of almost 800 I been using it ever since to finish my 2nd ng+ run
I’m in love with Spellbinder and I’m looking forward to trying this build in NG+++ Currently I’m getting around 330 attack with the Centipede set. I expect with the Dark Iron staff I should get close to 350 but just be MUCH beefier. It’s really cool Spellbinder just changes the game feel completely
I've got my defense up to 916. I'm using that armor you find in a chest in chapter 6. It scales with every relic perk. I've got all 18 relic perks (so I played through the game 3 times). My spirit is Top Takes Bottom. I'm using the dark iron staff. I'm using 3 gold spikeplates and 2 agate jars as my curios.
Yes I would believe you because I tested it out myself in NG+3. I used a crit build in NG+2 and it obliterated everything but in NG+3 it was struggling so I started testing stuff out and tried the bull set with wandering wight, x3 gold spikeplate, X2 agate jar, weevers needle and x3 tiger relic soaks and a fully upgraded Spellbinder along with dark iron staff... It melted everything, still was getting a lot of crits too. Just saying I noticed a massive difference, I won't be going past NG+3 though as I got my platinum trophy and am done with the game.
I use the same curio combination with the armor you get from a chest in chapter 6. By your 3rd playthrough that armor becomes better than the bull armor IMO.
King bull along with spellbinder is my fav. Build atm in the higher new game+ im a button smasher i luv that i wont be interrupted on my combos and i feel its easier to activate "see thro"(that red glow is beautiful with the extra damage ❤) For hard bosses example, erlang and sage i use resurrection pill along with "life strands " i pretty much just beat them down
When I found this common armor set. I automatically used the fan and the dark staff. I got my defense up to 888 with my attack being 270+, I'm sure both can get higher I just have tried just yet. I wish the game had load-outs. Hopefully they place that in the DLC or patch
you can boost the defense to 923 with spikeplates, agate jar and waterward orb but this only works if the battle is some shallow water body otherwise it's around 870
Not at all a fan of thrust stance (because you must stand still to charge heavies, which is a huge disadvantage IMO) but yes, from NG+++ on, you first of all NEED crazy defense because bosses hit very hard - harder each time through - and have more HP - which means you need to have more durability to survive longer unless you're able to perfectly dodge everything which, let's be honest, you WIll get hit - and IF you have, say, 4 golden spike plates, all relics unlocked, etc, you SHOUlD be able to hit 900+ defense (also, everyone, REMEMBER, meds are there for a reason - USE the damage mitigation meds, USE the attack meds, USE the meds to give you might so you can transform more - I see so many videos where people struggle so much and lose over and over and seem to 100% forget you CAN use them). Maybe it's a pride thing, I don't know, but swallow the pride and USE them. An extra 10% damage reduction is a GOOD thing. USE it. AlSO, you can raise your defense permanently further in the transformations part of the menu - I thought initially it meant that transformed FORM would get the boost, but no, it gets added to your BASE defense. Now, defense doesn't DO much in this game sadly and need a ton to do much, but hey, 900 vs 700 defense, you're looking at, on a big hit, maybe 40 or 50 less damage, so maybe 5% to 7% less of your HP bar taken, which adds up if you take 10 hits like that, AND at the same time - unlike the moon rabbit / sun crow combo - that damage reduction AlSO has the bonus of raising your attack more with the dark iron staff.
Thrust stance is a matter of adjusting to flow, smash is my favorite. For fun equip the tri point spear and travel to thunderclap temple for durable targets. As long as you have that stance maxed this is a great place for it since people have trouble perfect dodging the monks
More dodging and less charging, and you'll get better at dodging and probably get hit less 😂😂😂 but on a more serious note, you focus too much on heavy attacks that you probably neglected the varied combo and the benefits of it. Smash stance - good for close quarter combat or if youre a button masher (theres a reason why you start off with this. Its not bad but, its not a one all be all solution). Varied combo triggers resolute strike which is pretty good but weaving heavy attack after a light combo is cluncky and oftern time miss. Pillar - is good for defensive play but not as good if the enemy has range attacks. Varied combo has aoe effect (one of my favorite ) Trust - is good for mobility. 4 charge heavy is instance and the varied combo give you tactical retreat which triggers invulnerability also you have two option to choose after tactical retreat (a lot smoother game play but again, depends on the fight ) Def and dmg is great but if your combo is crap or focus too much on heavy dmg, you'll be missing out on a lot of mechanics
Idk if you’ll see this but I’m on Cycle 4 and even w this build Im getting one shot, I swapped to a straight up crit build to try and kill before I get killed but man a defensive build that can survive the later cycles would be awesome
What is your overall level? I'm just going to max everything I can slowly through my first playthrough. Currently level 88 and starting chapter 4, I've only been working on foundation and martial arts but been having a fairly easy time without powers leveled up.
Maybe you should add that this only really becomes relevant after completing your third run. Of course it works before that as well but to get its full value you need to complete the game three times with beating Erlang. I’m on my fourth run and I have 883 Defense and 302base attack. I’m using 3 agate jars and 2 gold spikeplates. I’m currently playing to get the third one from chapter three because I didn’t know I should get it again on my 2nd run
@@vicmacky1504 yes that’s a great idea… But remember I mentioned that I purposely put myself in a bad situation to demonstrate the dominance & formidable nature of the build

Yeah it great for Defense when you have done NG+++ and have all Relic perks selected. The downside is you don't benefit from the armor perks the others have. ......BTW, you'd benefit much better in Thrust stance with the Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear: "Integrate spear techniques into Light Attack Combo and increases the Damage dealt by Thrust Stance moves. ------>Upon performing Forceful Thrust shoots swords from the staff to attack".
Nice, there is a spirit that gives more defense +45 , hits harder than the wandering wight but reduces attack by 10 i think it's the top takes bottom, i need to check if the -10 damage are compensated by the 15 extra defence from the iron staff that would make it worth it

Yeah it is already known but pretty useless until a late new game plus 2 if not 3 to beat the bull king one. I believe that the bull king is a must for new game plus 2 because of the difficulty that enemies increase. And of course as soon as the original Sun WuKong armor defense passes bull king set you should use it. But most players will never put in that much commentmint to use it. I am still wondering if I will beat new game plus. On the 3rd chapter right now, and my game is going slow because it just isn't that exciting. And killing everything now has become a chore rather than fun. Two new game plus competitions including the secret boss Erlang. Is really lame for a one minute WuKong stance. They really should have just kept stacking the upgrades like health and magic and increasing spirits with new power. But converting all the things I get into will is just depressing 😕 since I have 3 million or more 😔 useless. Pointless really. But every few days I play a bit maybe in a week I will finish chapter 3.

Note to self: Don't go over NG+2
Tbf I think it’s better with a spellbinder build, you can boost your stats way higher
It is, at the sacrifice of your other abilities. Though you need to upgrade it all the way for it to be worth it.
Tenacity your mean EB bluff
U are not lieing i got this set realized it in ng+3 and with all the curos giving more defesnse i have currently now 827 defense and using the dark staff nothing is better now the look i do prefer the the bull king armor look but the defense difference at my current lvl btw these to is just 60 points and i have 4 spike plates and 2 jars all boosting defense and it made no enemy a problem except the really end game bosses and it still aint that bad oh my lvl is 316
@@givemeverything I’m jealous! I need this Curios, didn’t realize they were a thing until NG+++. Maybe I’ll go past 6 NG+ but I’m not sure if I want to do that
@iDentityUS i didnt kbow neithe but my main goal was to nake my defense higher i went to the merchant redid my attributes and max my defense health and mana then I kept going to that tall dude in the snow when ur doing the spell binder quest right next to when udo the ring of fire and got one each run now i got 4spike plates and 2 jars then the bull king armor and dark staff have npcs and some bosses looking like fouls even bodying the broken shell and Lang but I'm still playing and waiting for a challenge also fight the tiger at the hub gave me 5 slots
Oh my set up is immobilize shadow step and transformation and the iron ball but I also noticed if u use spell binder shit u are really maxing out damage then
@@iDentityUSu should maneee it’s interesting/highly entertaining and ain nun hotter then this game rn but I love the content brudda 🖤
You get 888 def with the common Working set, curio, and top takes bottom, bottom takes top spirit.
Im not getting more spike plates to drop and I'm on Ng+5😢
Lol this my bulid but just with full king build
r1 spam build
Man just talk da loud whisper is annoying
I have two of the gold spikeplates and im only on my second playthrough
